4D
I grew up in a family where all my family members (including my distant relatives) love to buy 4Ds and gamble.
Somehow, they have this belief that they are going to strike the lottery that Saturday.
Or that Sunday.
And $ is just gonna come easy, like, at the snap of their fingers.
then when I was 18, I was often made to buy 4D.
4 different digits, permutation = $24
2 same digits occuring in the 4 nos, permutation = $12
3 same digits occuring in the 4 nos, permutation = $6.
Then, when news of the Wednesday 4Ds was announced,
most of my family rejoice.
At the part where they can get yet another chance to strike that "first prize".
And I never understood why they rather would spend more than 1/2 of their salary to buy that "sure-win" no. every Wednesday and weekend, than put the $ to better use.
Like, save up and plan for a family tour.
Buy their children a better PC.
Send their children to learn something useful.
And then I see their disappointed faces all the time.
Perhaps what these people really want is to buy that "golden chance" to strike it rich one shot, and make their lives better.
But in the process of pursuing that financial comfort, they gave up other opportunities too...
