The Card Concept 105

Hey Friends, Sorry this post is late! Lots of Holiday celebrating around here! This week we invite you to share your Christmas tree with us or a favorite card you made in 2018. Easy Peasy right?

I'm sharing one of my favorite cards. It was from February of 2018. I like this card because of the big gold heat embossing sentiment and pretty patterned papers.
I hope you are having a wonderful holiday. See you next time!

Multiple holiday cards

Hey Friends, I've got some random Holiday cards to share today. The first one is a Gina K Designs/Simon Says Stamp Collab. set. The trees, reindeer and sentiment are from that set. The gingham stamp is Simon Says Stamp.
I stamped the trees in green on a kraft base. After stamping the gingham in black on red CS, I die cut a circle, set the silver embossed reindeer on top and added a white embossed sentiment, sequins and a silver bow.

For this one ( I made 2 actually) I stamped some Simon Says Stamp snowflakes on blue CS with ink and heat embossing. Then I sponged on more distress ink around the outside and added a sentiment and sequins.

These 2 sets are Wplus9. The houses and trees are a separate set. The text and banner are a different Wplus9 set. I copic-colored the images to match some patterned paper. I popped the panel up, added a little stamped flower, sequins and twine.

The Card Concept 103

Hey Friends! The Card Concept has a great photo inspiration for you! You can use it anyway you'd like. How about a December birthday?

I chose to use my Avery Elle cupcake stamp set for this clean and layered card. I stamped the 2 piece cupcake. The top and the bottom are separate, some on white card stock and some on patterned paper with ink colors to match the inspiration.

I pulled out a MS holly punch and some puffy stickers from my stash to decorate said cupcakes. As I write this, darned if I know which set the sentiment comes from. Sorry!
A little patterned paper for the background and some rounded corners to complete.

I hope you'll come join us and also take a look at the design team's cards.
See you soon!

The Card Concept 102

Hey Friends, Time sure is flying by! Time to make Christmas cards if you haven't started already! LOL. I'm way behind but will add to handmade cards with pre-made.
The Card Concept Challenge 102 is a pretty one and can be interpreted any way you'd like. I focused on the gingham pillow and tree for my clean and layered card.
I love this Hero Arts set and was happy to use it. It's a color layering stamp so the trees are stamped with 2 colors of ink and another layer was heat embossed in white. I also embossed the deer, star and greeting.
I hope you join us this week.Check out the design team's card too, they are gorgeous!
Hugs, Kim

Lawn Fawn Challenge 40 Color Inspiration

Hey Friends, I wanted to play in the newest challenge at Lawn Fawnatics. I recently picked up the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Christmas paper pad and it was perfect for the challenge. I pulled out my LF Snow Day set for this one. And I used the nice list from the Holiday Helpers set.

I colored the images with Copics and die cut out. The tree and sentiment are from the same Snow Day set.

I laid it all out with the help of Mojo Monday 502 sketch! Yay, they started have sketches again! I even pulled out Spellbinder dies for the scalloped circle and a punch for the scalloped border. Even tho distress ink backgrounds are the modern card norm, I so enjoyed making a card the way I used to.
Thank for stopping by!

The Card Concept 101

Hi Friends, it's time for our 101st challenge at The Card Concept! I went quite literal with this one. I purchased Penny Black's Pumpkin Truck stamp because I have lots of men to make cards for. I really like it too!

I stamped it on watercolor paper with Versafine Ink and colored it with distress inks and a water brush. I then set it on a background of navy and white plaid patterned paper and then onto a navy card base. The sentiment is from Inky Antics.

The card is a cross between mixed media and clean and layered.

We'd love to have you join us for the challenge this week!

The Card Concept 100 Elegant Fall

Hey Friends, Welcome to our 100th challenge for The Card Concept

I have used a retired Flourishes stamp set. If you'd like something similar, head over to the Power Poppy store. I stamped my image in light ink and colored it with Prisma Colored Pencils. I then heat embossed the sentiment with white powder and cut it into a tag shape. I popped that up on foam tape onto my prepared card base. I added gold sequins and bakers twine.

We'd love to have you join us for this challenge and help us celebrate 100 challenges!
I have listed my guest below. Please check out her card and the rest of the guests and team members.
Thank you for joining us!

I have invited my Guest Danielle Vincent of D's Crafty Creations to celebrate with us! You can find a link to her blog by clicking on her name. Here's her Clean and Graphic card.

The Card Concept 99

Hey Friends! Today for The Card Concept Challenge 99 I tried a Mixed Media card for the first time. It certainly isn't in my comfort zone. Hey, I gave it a shot!

I started with a piece of subtle patterned paper and stenciled a striped pattern with clear gel medium and let dry. Then I sponged Oxide Distress in a blue shade around the edges avoiding the center. I stamped a retired Flourishes stamp in black ink then again in white acrylic paint on top.

I added a few pieces of washi tape on the sides to complement the sunflower.
For the Simon Says Stamp sunflower and leaves I stamped with Versafine Black ink on Bristol card stock and sponged on distress ink. I added some colored pencil and some white gel pen accents. Lastly I added some sentiment word strips for Tim Holtz.

I chose these words as a encouragement to myself. I really didn't want to post this card because it was so outside my style but I mustered up courage and did it anyway!
Thanks for visiting,
Kim

The Card Concept 98

Hey Friends, Sorry about the delay in posting this. This week at The Card Concept I made a clean and layered card.

The inspiration photo is super cute and I used my new-to-me Lawn Fawn rainbow die to go with the cute LF Unicorn. I expected my card to be a bit more pastel but it didn't work out that way. I used a sentiment from the LF crayon set, heat embossed in gold powder. The cloud border dies are once again Lawn Fawn.

I hope you all join us this week, it's a fun one!

Lawn Fawnatics #36

Hey Friends, I decided to play in this Lawn Fawn Challenge. I went to a Lawn Fawn Class yesterday with Jenn Shurkus. While there, At Papercraft Clubhouse in Connecticut, I picked up the Caramel Apple stamp set and imagined that it would look cute with the donut and pumpkin latte stamps.

I looked at the mood board, which I found out is designed by Jenn Shurkus, and chose the cup from one inspiration photo and the colors from the bottom right photo.

After coloring everything with Copics, I ink blended some yellow distress in on a square cut from Bristol smooth paper. I can't tell you which ink I used because it was just a mix of TH yellow colors left on the sponge. I use a variety of LF papers from 2 different 6x6 paper pads. I die cut the "scripty sweet die" and stamped the "you are" from the baking set for the sentiment.  Lastly I added sequins from SSS.

Thanks for visiting!
Kim

The Card Concept 97

Hey Friends, Welcome back to the Card Concept Challenge! Summer is not over for me but it's officially the Fall season of The Card Concept.

We've got a pretty inspiration photo for you and we'd love you to join us.
I used the Simon Says Stamp April 2018 Card Kit. The stamp set is Simon's Beautiful Day and the paper is Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow. Following the sketch below, I colored my images with Copics on Copic Express It paper and fussy cut out. I die cut the background paper with an Avery Elle Wonky Stitched die. The stitched square and circle are MFT.  Lastly I added Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins.

Thanks for visiting.

Clouds

Hey Friends, I'm playing in the CASology challenge this week. When I saw the cue card I knew I wanted to use my new-to-me Lawn Fawn Spring Showers dies. This set is not new but it's so versatile that I had to pick it up.

I knew I wanted to make some kind of rainbow so I got out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and scribbled them in a line in ROYGBV order on Bristol paper. Then I spritzed it with lots of water and let it dry. I went to work and came back to this beauty.
You can see the rest, just cut it into a circle and arranged the die cuts on top. I added a Lawn Fawn sentiment and a few hearts.

I am also linking up to Simon Says Stamp Wed. Challenge -Use a die or punch.

Lawn Fawnatics 32

Hey Friends, I'm stopping in real quick to post this card before I miss the deadline. I recently purchased Lawn Fawn's Manatee-rific stamps and dies and the Wavy borders. I thought I could whip this card up but it took 2 hours between the ink blending, Copic coloring and fiddling with placement. It was fun though!

I ink-blended Salty Ocean, Cracked Pistachio, Scattered Straw and Antique Linen Distress inks in the background. I added Copic dot detail to the sandy bottom and colored the sweet Manatees as well. The inside says "Cheers to manatee-rific years together". I tied in the anniversary theme by adding a tiny flower and bow tie (from another set). The sun and clouds are also Lawn Fawn.

Thanks for stopping by!. See you soon! Kim

Baby Flynn is here! & The Color Throw down 500!

Hey Friends, What a coincidence! I was just about to post the card and gift I made for my Daughter and noticed it matched this week's Color Throwdown Challenge #500

My youngest Daughter just had her first baby (girl) and my 2nd grandchild on June 19th! Her name is Flynn Winter. We are all so happy to welcome her to the world.

My daughter loved Kate Spade products and I have loved Keds my whole life so I was giddy when I saw these adorable baby sneakers! (They are rose gold)  I brought them to the hospital when I met Baby Flynn for the first time.

So onto the card and tag! I used the same "My Mind's Eye "Blush" patterned paper that Wanda did in her design team card. I just put together a simple design with the papers, machine stitching around it. I white heat embossed a Verve sentiment stamp on navy card stock and die cut with a circle die.

Then added some white sheer ribbon and clear sequins. I kept it quite simple so I could work on the tag.

The tag is a SSS tag die cut from the MME patterned paper. The baby word die is also SSS cut from Rose Gold Foil paper that came in one of the SSS card kits.
The stamp and die that says "you were born to sparkle" is Sunny Studios. I wrapped the box in white paper and added white sheer ribbon and blue bakers twine.
My daughter loved her gift very much!
Soon I will post of pic of our little Flynn.
Thanks for visiting!

Snail Mail -Several Challenges

Hey Friends, I was inspired by several challenges this week. I guess it started with the Color Throwdown Challenge 499 and the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 31. Since the Color Throw down had green in it, I thought of leaves and flowers and that was the theme of the Lawn Fawn challenge.

So I got out my Gleeful Garden set and colored up my images with Copics, while matching the coloring to the Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid "Chill" blue paper.
The green paper is of unknown origin, something I received in a SSS Easter kit one year.

Following the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches 343 I built my card accordingly. A white heat embossed sentiment and twine bow finish it off. This card can be used for ANY occasion. I'll just stamp an appropriate inside sentiment when the time comes to mail it.

Hope you are enjoying summer, Thanks for visiting! Kim

The Card Concept 96

Hey Friends, I have 2 cards for this challenge! I made the one down below first in an elegant and classy style with a nod to rustic. But then I ordered this Simon Says Stamp "Beautiful Flowers" set and had to use it. I declined to get the card kit subscription in June for this and then kept seeing it and loving it more and more. I guess the style of this is elegant and classy too.
I first colored the image with Zig markers on Bristol paper. There wasn't enough contrast tho so after it was dry, I added colored pencils to parts of it and it popped much better!
I fussy cut around part of it and cut it out with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Square die. I did the same for the wood grain patterned paper. Then added a heat embossed sentiment from the same set and some sequins.
Keep reading below please.

On this card I let the paper do the work. I used this lovely Echo Park patterned paper called Rustic Elegance with is also the style of my card. I beleive the sentiment is from an "Our daily bread" set.
I heat embossed in gold powder and cut it our with oval Spellbinder dies. The scalloped rectangle is from Pretty Pink Posh, cut in gold foil paper and layered on vellum.
I hope you all head over to the The Card Concept blog and see with the team came up with. And please play along!
We'll be back in September!
