The Card Concept 107

Hey Friends, Welcome to The Card Concept 107! We all love a rainbow design, right? I do. I was inspired to make my clean and layered card from the rainbow cupcakes. It made me think of my Lawn Fawn set  Baked with Love. Actually everything on this card is Lawn Fawn including the Really Rainbow paper and the Scalloped Box Die.

I stamped the images on Copic Express It card stock and colored with Copics. I die cut them out and die cut the box die. The dies for the mats on the flaps come with the die set too.
This was fun to put together and is earmarked for a sweet young adult in my family.

I hope you all play with us this week. Don't forget to visit The Card Concept blog and see what the other designers have made!
Until next time,
Kim

The Card Concept 106

Hi Friends! We back from our break and ready to play at The Card Concept 106! I super love this inspiration photo! I did deviate a bit from the pinks in the flowers, not intentional but oh well, it's ok.

I like the black and white accents on the photo so I found some patterned papers that were close. They are much more black in real life but I over-lightened my photo and blacks got washed out a bit.

I stamped a stamp from Newton's Nook, Cocktail Mixer, colored with Copics and die cut it out with a stitched circle. I bundled up a nest of gold thread to put under the die cut and added some gold sequins and a gold clip.
The inside stamp from the same set says "why limit happy to an hour?" So funny!

There are some gorgeous cards from the design team over at The Card Concept Blog so please check them out!
Until next time, Kim

The Card Concept 101

Hi Friends, it's time for our 101st challenge at The Card Concept! I went quite literal with this one. I purchased Penny Black's Pumpkin Truck stamp because I have lots of men to make cards for. I really like it too!

I stamped it on watercolor paper with Versafine Ink and colored it with distress inks and a water brush. I then set it on a background of navy and white plaid patterned paper and then onto a navy card base. The sentiment is from Inky Antics.

The card is a cross between mixed media and clean and layered.

We'd love to have you join us for the challenge this week!

Seize the Birthday Anything Goes

Hi Friends, It's Seize the Birthday time! This week the topping is "Anything Goes"! You can make ANY birthday card and link it up.

This time I made a simple shaker card. I layered some patterned paper on a black card stock mat and die cut a Spellbinder Star. I added foam tape to the back and piled up some pretty SSS sequins in the center.
I white heat-embossed a Newton's Nook Happy Birthday sentiment from the cocktails stamp set on black cs. I set the whole panel on a patterned paper background cut to A2 size.
I have enjoyed my guesting at Seize the Birthday so much!
Thanks for visiting today!

Seize the Birthday Vibrant Colors

Hey Friends, how are you this fine day? It's time for another Seize the Birthday challenge! This time our "topping" is Vibrant Colors! Or you can always choose "anything goes" if you wish.
I had to pick up this cute monster stamp set and dies for cards for my Grandson. This was his card last month.
I colored the adorable MFT monsters with Copic Markers and highlighted them with white gel pen. I coordinated my images with this cute polka dot paper to tie them together. By using a lot of white card stock, the monsters are greatly showcased. It was very fun to make, especially for my favorite boy.

I'm enjoying being a guest for Seize the birthday. Thanks for visiting.

Seize the Birthday -Use a Bird or Birds

Hi There, This time at Seize the Birthday our topping is to use "a bird or birds" on your card. It's the perfect chance for me to use my new Pretty Pink Posh "Hummingbird Thanks" stamps and dies. I also used PPP "Pretty Petunias". The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp "Thoughtful Messages" set, which was white heat embossed on black card stock.

For the bird and flowers I stamped them with Versafine Onyx Black on Bristol CS and colored with Zig watercolor markers. I enhanced them a bit with white gel pen.

The background panel is embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, Birds and Swirls, I believe.
I had a hard time with the bird, just wasn't sure how to color, but worked it out. Next time will be better!

Inspired by all the little things 82

Hi, Friends, It's time for Inspired by all the little things #82. We have a GORGEOUS floral photo to be inspired by this week. I was inspired by the flowers and silverware.

I stamped and die cut the beautiful WPlus9 Summer Southern Florals 2. I used many Momento Inks for that. I also die cut a white CS circle to set them on. I stamped my background with SSS gingham cling background stamp using the Misti for great coverage.

I die cut the sentiment with SSS Sending/Wishing die with silver paper on top and 2 layers of white underneath. Instead of using the minuscule dots for the "i", I used tiny silver half pearl-type embellishments. Then I silver heat embossed the rest of the sentiment on white CS.

Our guest this month is Kelly Lunceford. Come visit the blog and see what she and the rest of the talented team have made!
Thanks for stopping by.

Seize the Birthday-Teal and White

Hey Friends, Seize the Birthday has a great new challenge for us! "The Toppings" is to use the colors Teal and White. Who doesn't love a pretty teal, aqua turquoise-y color? It's my favorite after pink.

I used a Newton's Nook "Newton's Birthday Bash" stamp for this. It only occurred to me after the card was done that I should have put some clouds or ground at the bottom to give him a reference point. Oh well! (Rookie move, haha)

I colored the image with Zig watercolor markers, masked it with masking paper and sponged on some distress ink in an ombre fashion. I then splattered it with water and more distress ink, set it on a teal card base and added some sequins and tiny MS confetti. Lastly I added a healthy dose of glossy accents on the balloon.

I had so much fun with this card esp. pulling the mask off and seeing the image and background together. It never gets old!
Come play with us this week, won't you?
Kim

The Toppings are Teal and White! or you can always use Anything Goes. Your choice.

I'm guesting for March and April! WooHoo!

Seize the Birthday Anything Goes

Hi Friends! Surprise! I'm guesting at Seize the Birthday for the months of March and April! How fun, right? I'm thrilled to be joining the wonderful design team. I always like to make birthday cards so this is perfect.
I started my card by stamping and Copic coloring this adorable Llama image from Newton's Nook. I think it's supposed to be a Holiday set but I think it works for birthdays.
After coloring and highlighting with a white gel pen and die cut it and set on a ink sponged diecut circle. I made the background and card base from MME birthday themed paper and a Lawn Fawn scalloped border die.
It's easy to play along with this challenge. You can make any birthday card you would like!
Thanks for visiting!

Inspired by all the little things #77

Hi all! Happy New Year! We're back to our challenges at Inspired by all the little Things. We're changing the format somewhat and are going to every 2 weeks now.
We've got a cute inspiration for you. Interpret it how ever you'd like! My "little thing", in other words what I took from the inspiration, was the critters!

My Lawn Fawn Party Animals are ready for a birthday party. Sheesh, I had to re-do a few of the animals due to rusty Copic coloring. I hadn't picked them up in weeks and it showed.
After layering this on some patterned paper I cut a banner with the Lawn Fawn banner stamp and dies. I added Glossy Accents to the fox's party hat and gift. You can't tell I stuck my finger in it as usual! Ha.
Our Guest for the month is Linda Snodgrass. Come on by and join us.

Inspired by all the little things 76

Hey Friends, It's time for Inspired by all the little things #76. This inspiration photo is so festive! I was going to create a New years Eve card but I really need birthday cards so that's what I chose.

I started out with some My Minds Eye papers from a SSS card kit last year. I love the gold foiling on it. I inked up another Simon Says Stamp Birthday sentiment and stamped it on a square panel. I fussed for hours (not really! ha!) to get some tails for the balloons tied on to them but gave up. A few gold stars finished it up.

Our guest this week is Joanne James from The Crafty Owl. Stop by the blog and check it out!

This is our last challenge for the year but we'll see you in January!
Merry Everything!

Inspired by all the little Things #59

Hey Friends, Happy June! Can you believe it's June already? We have an oh-so-pretty Inspiration photo for you this week at Inspired by all the little things.

I took out the Wplus9 stamp set again, Ranunculus,  so I could focus on those gorgeous flowers. I heat embossed it in gold and colored with Zigs and water. I splattered with gold paint and machine stitched the white panel. I adhered the white panel on blue card stock and tied blue twine around it. Finally I heat embossed a SSS sentiment on a label die cut.

This week we have the talented Amy Sheffer as our guest and also our talented design team members. We hope you play along!

Until next time,
Kim

Inspired by all the little things #47

Hi Friends, I'm here to share this week's Inspired by all the little things Challenge #47! We have an interesting rainbow photo with a musical flair if you choose to be inspired by that. I pulled out my Tweet, Tweet stamp set by Avery Elle.

It gave me the opportunity to use lots of colors and had some cute little music notes as well. The sentiment on the inside says "a little birdie told me it was your birthday". Too cute!

I colored the birds and tiki-style umbrella with Copics and cut out with the matching dies. A hill was created by sponging some Twisted Citron ink with a curved mask. I then set the panel on a black card base and added twine. I added glossy accents to the birdie's eyes!

Come visit the blog, say hello to our guest, Michelle Lupton and join in the fun.
Hugs, Kim

Inspired by all the little Things 43

Hey Friends, I'm loving this inspiration photo this week at Inspired by all the little Things 43. Home decorating is a passion of mine so I love pics of home decor.

I chose to take the pink flowers, the fabulous black and white print and some silver from the photo for this week's card. I masked the beautiful WPlus9 Ranunculous with a Lawn Fawn jar stamp. The stems are from yet another set. I water colored the image with Zig markers and a water brush. I heat embossed (with Versafine Black Onyx and clear power)  the black sentiment from a SSS stamp designed by Kristina Werner.

I set that on a panel on PTI patterned paper and wrapped some silver twine, made a separate bow from the same, and added a black enamel dot. That panel was set on a dark pink A2 card base. Oh, and of course PPP sparkling clear sequins!

Michele Ferguson is our guest this week! You must go over to the blog and see her take on the challenge as well as the other wonderful cards from the team.

Inspired By All The Little Things #12

Hey Friends, Today I'm sharing a card with you for the Inspired By All The Little Things #12 Challenge. From the inspiration photo I took the shape and color of the blooms, and the fact that the came from the left side.

I mixed Milled Lavender and Spun Sugar Distress inks to get the color and then was delighted to find a piece of matching card stock! I didn't plan it but I love when that happens!

Of course first I heat embossed the pretty flowers on Ranger Water Color Paper. After the painting was done, I heat embossed Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder for the sentiment. This photo does not capture the gorgeous-ness of that color.

Oh how I fussed around with what to do in that top left corner. After pulling out every option of embellishments I had, I settled on a simple twine bow. A few of Lucy's Cards luscious iridescent sequins finish it off.
Thanks for visiting today!

Color Throwdown 388

Hi Friends, When I saw this week's Color Throwdown, I was giddy to play with my Taylored Expression Bloomin Boots Stamp set! You can't tell from the photo but after I stamped the yellow boots I clear embossed them to make them shine.

The Sugar Sketch Challenge 49 gave me a great place to showcase boots and cute matching sentiment. I copic colored the flowers then fussy cut them and the boots out and layered them, popping up one of them with foam tape.

Some other items used were a Cuttlebug Argyle EF, Lawn Fawn Stitched Scalloped border die, MFT Stitched Circle die, some gingham ribbon and a brad.
One more birthday card for my stash with many more to go!

Inspired By All The Little Things #11

Hi Friends, I've got a cute birthday card to share with you today for the Inspired By All The Little Things #11 Challenge.
After debating on which patterned paper to use, I decided to go with Paris Girl by Carta Bella that I hadn't used much. Then my new to me stamp set Cupcakes by Avery Elle came in the mail just in time for this card! I've had this set on my wish list for a long time.
I didn't want to make a black cupcake but needed some high contrast for interest so I went with it. The card stock base is dark gray from Simon Says Stamp. For a nod to the tulle I went with sheer pink ribbon and for the tiara, I added a gem flower. ( I used much restraint because I was trying to use a big gem flourish but it would have overtaken the whole card!!!) Less is more!
I may have strayed a bit far from the inspiration pic but I am happy with the results overall.
Let's see what you come up with.
Ta-Ta for now. :)

Lilac.Beauty

Hi all, I'm back with another Flourishes Challenge! This one is a month long challenge so there is still time to play if you want. It's call the Beauty of Bling. Just include Bling and follow the posted guidelines, easy peasy!

Guess what? My Grandmother is 100 years old tomorrow!

Can you imagine? I made this card with her in mind but I'm not sure I can part with it! It took hours (mainly because I couldn't decide which of the pretty "Pink Paisley" papers to use) and is so pretty IRL....
I used the Lilac set which I won in the scavenger hunt on the Flourish Blog months ago and I hadn't inked it up yet. Love it! I colored it with the Copics below, cut it with an oval spellbinder. I loosely followed a mojo monday sketch from 2010.  I hacked up carefully trimmed a recollections bling swirl from Michaels to fit on the bottom of the card. It's sooooo yummy set off of the the black paper.

Question for you, for all that have one, do you think the Copic Air Brush System is worth having?  I got one for Xmas but I may return it. It seems like alot of trouble. What do you think? I sponged the ink on the above oval. I think you would have to mask every image you color to airbrush it but not sure.

I'm also entering this is a few challenges.

Tootles! Kim
