Autumn~ness

Autumn, that season of peculiar and inexhaustible influences on the mind of taste and tenderness, that season which has drawn from every poet, worthy of being read, some attempt at description, or some lines of feeling.  She occupied her mind as much as possible in such like musings and quotations…”

~ Jane Austen

~
Autumn has well and truly arrived in our lovely part of the world and my heart swells with joy as I ponder the pleasures of this wonderful season…

....Beautiful crinkly brown and gold hues of the leaves that grace the trees are a happy part of Autumn…don't you think...?

Autumn is a season for cinnamon and spices, for gathering firewood and pinecones to see us through the chilly winter…

...A season for the orange and brown pumpkins that grace the stores and for baking bliss...

A cup of steaming coffee always tastes richer and more comforting in the autumn…especially if honey and cinnamon are added…

Autumn is a time for watching to see when the first oranges and lemons appear on the trees,
and a season for preserving its tangy goodness in jars of beautiful marmalade

Letters are lovely in the autumn…somehow the imagination comes alive with the arrival of cooler weather…what could be pleasanter than taking pen to paper and journaling thoughts for a dear friend to read…?

Autumn is a a season for bringing out cosy knitting and embroidery projects and snuggling up to watch delightful time period movies...

A time for venturing into the garden in search of fresh peas for a hearty meal and a time to sow spring bulbs and flowers…

…Above all, it is a time to thank God for the bounty of summer and the provisions stored in the cupboard and freezer for winter…

Yes...this wonderful season has arrived in all its glory and I delight in its rich beauty!

What do you love most about the season which you are in...?  {{Smiles}}

...Spring

Beautiful and delicate sweet peas are blooming in the hanging baskets...
 ~
Oh, Spring is indeed here and my heart is truly glad....
Spring is my very favourite season, and I am delighted to be digging about
in the brown earth once again, sowing flower and vegetable seeds whilst
listening to the cheerful song of the birds and feeling the gentle, warm spring
breeze blow whisps of hair across my face...
I can understand the happiness the birds feel within, for I do
indeed feel the same way at this time of year...

One Misty Morning...

As I sit and write this today, the beautiful rain that has been replenishing the earth, dry and dusty from lack of water, has ceased pouring for the time being...
A thick mist has settled, and the temperature has risen a little...  It has been so cold these past few days!

The pine cones we picked up in the forest a few weeks ago have certainly come in handy as firelighters, and the wood cut here on the farm means we can feed the fire all day long, if we choose to...

I am truly humbled at how good our God is to us, His precious children...  He always provides for us.

Yes...with the first of June comes the cold, but delightful season of Winter...

It has been raining since Sunday afternoon, and I am glad that I took the dogs for a nice long walk in the forest in the morning, for it seems that the wet weather will be here for a few days...
Perhaps I will be able to venture out in between showers for some fresh air and exercise...

In the meantime, I am hoping to do a little card making for a certain little lady's sixth birthday, as well as some more delightful sewing...
There is also a cake in need of baking, as well as biscuits for the girls to decorate.

I was hoping to share pictures of my finished sewing project yesterday, but such gloomy weather means taking photographs is quite impossible...  I love natural lighting, but if the rain doesn't clear up in the next few days, I will have to take some pictures inside, for I know you are all very interested to see what it is I have been busy with:)

*Photographs of the different views from our patio, and of the flowers in our little garden...

Have a beautiful day in the Lord, dear friends and a very happy June to you!
Thank you so much for stopping by...your visits are always much appreciated!

The Glorious Garden ~ Blessings and Encouragement for the Gardener

Oh, the delights of the garden are gloriously rich indeed!

Surely nothing is quite as thrilling or delightful as stepping out into the garden and gathering luscious lettuce leaves, still moist with dew, or picking bunches of vibrant green and purple basil, fresher than fresh and bursting with flavour…?

...The pungent aroma of different herbs wafting through the air; the buzzing of bees in their never-ending quest for nourishment, and the delicate flitting about of beautiful butterflies to dainty flowers...what could bring more sunshine to the soul?

The garden, boasting its glorious green and brown hues with splashes of yellow, purple and pink dotted here and there, brings so much pleasure and satisfaction to the diligent tender of the soil and worker of the earth…

The garden is a resting place and an eating place – a place to find both contentment and pleasure!

To the gardener, it is the place where he earns his bread by the sweat of his brow and where he feels closest to his creator, the Great Gardener – the Lord of all the earth!
