Bookmark with Important Message

I love bookmarks, I have quite a selection (no e-reader for me yet) and I enjoy giving them away. Today it occurred to me that a bookmark is a great place for an important reminder because you see it every time you open your book.

Stamps: Winnie & Walter (sentiment)
Other: TCW (stencil)

The challenges over at Winnie & Walter for World Cardmaking Day are open for a whole week, hurray! Check them out (there are many more on their website), get inspired, and make something!

More ghosting and some Watercoloring

Check out my new signature at the end of the post that the amazing Loll created for me! The one that I made a few months ago caused a warning to pop up every time I wrote a new post, so sweet Loll offered to design a new one for me! I love it and hope you do, too!

Today I have two cards for you!

This past weekend I spent with my 7Cardologists friends (although one was missing) in the mountains at our annual Stamp Camp. I taught them the Ghosting technique which is the current theme at the CAS Mix Up Challenge. We all used different stencils and colors and had so much fun. I made this card from my background.

Stamps: Happy Little Stampers (sentiment)
Dies: Impression Obsession (tree)
Other: Tree stencil (TCW), Distress Inks

Challenges (click on the links for more information and lots of inspiration):

CAS Mix Up October Challenge "Ghosting"
plus Stamping and Die cutting
*This card was a runner up!*

On my second card I did some watercoloring with Distress Inks. I don't own Copics and use a lot of colored pencils when I am stamping with my friends but what I really love is the look of watercoloring.

Stamps: Winnie & Walter (sentiment)
Dies: Impression Obsession
Other: Distress Inks, copper embossing powder from PSX (that I've had for more than 20 years!!!)

The word "autumn" is embossed in copper. Hard to see in the picture but very pretty in real life. Will take a picture tomorrow and post it on instagram (button on the right sidebar).

Sending this card to the following challenges:

Wild Hibiscus with Ferns

Today's card was made with leftover pieces of this card and that card.  I am a little proud of myself for not adding the pieces to the huge pile of stuff I will use "later" but actually made something with them.
ETA: I should probably mention that this is a 5x7 inch card.

A close up so you can see the shimmer:

Stamps: Altenew (Wild Hibiscus), Hero Arts (sentiment)
Other: Fern stencil (TCW)

Challenges (click on the links for more information and lots of inspiration):

Virginia's View Challenge #23 "Spray, Mist, Splatter"
The background was sprayed and splattered, and even the butterfly was stamped on a piece of sprayed in blue.
ETA: This card won Honorable Mention!

Spritzed Ferns with Dragonfly

Just popping in to show you a card I made recently.

The CAS Mix Up August Challenge inspired me to shake up my neglected spritz bottles. I picked a beautiful, shimmery green from LuminArte but after a test spritz it didn't work any more. The same has happened with my gold from the same brand that I now use only to splatter with a brush. Since several bloggers mentioned that they had good luck with the mini mister from Ranger and I had one, I poured some green into it,  and grabbed my fern stencil.

A close up to show you the shimmer

Stamp: Penny Black (script)
Other: Fern Stencil (TCW), Spritz bottles (LuminArte), Dragonfly (punch)

Afterwards I sponged the panel with Antique Linen DI, stamped it partly with a script stamp, splattered some gold on it, ran a brush dipped in the gold along the edges, and attached a dragonfly punched from some shimmery, textured paper. I backed it with some foam and attached it to a white card. I decided against a sentiment.

ETA: This card was voted Outstanding Design!

It felt so wonderful to finally take some time to play again!

Brick Wall Birthday Card

Yesterday I finally had a bit of time to craft and so I have a card to share today! It was more fiddly than usual but I do like how it turned out. The little banners cut out the letters and I thought it looked better when I inserted them again in another color rather than leave them empty.

Stamps: None!!!
Dies: Poppystamps
Other: Brick stencil (TCW)

Palm Fronds in front of a Wall

This past week my boys were on spring break and we went to Washington, D.C. for a few days. I had never been there myself. Boy, is there a lot to see - too much for one visit! All that history! We enjoyed it very much and hope to go back again some day!

This afternoon I made three cards which is quite unusual for me! I will show you one of them (can't show you the other two yet).

Stamp: Hero Arts (sentiment)
Die: Hero Arts (palm fronds)
Other: stencil (TCW)

This card makes me happy in several ways:
First, I absolutely love these palm fronds from Hero Arts.
Second, I finally used this die that I got from a2z Scrapbooking store, when I won their challenge quite a while ago (why, oh why, did it take me so long??).
Third, I used a watercolored background that didn't come out quite as I hoped it would (I was trying my hand on the faux glazed glass technique that Sandy Allnock mastered so beautifully - me not so much) but instead of throwing it out I used it for die cutting and really like it now. Not wasting anything always makes my happy!
Lastly, a long time ago I bought a holder full of Whisper ink pads but never use them because I find them too light/dry for stamping. Somebody who purges regularly would have thrown them out long ago but today I discovered they are perfect for lightly sponging through a stencil!

Graphic 50th Birthday Card

How come it is already August???? Who is sitting on the fast forward button? Would this person please get up so that time doesn't fly by so fast!

Recently I noticed that my favorite sentiment stamp set had disappeared! I hate loosing things! But especially this set! It is small but I like the font and think it's very versatile! Of course it's discontinued and impossible to find anymore online. I looked and I looked and was very afraid that it had fallen into the trash can a while ago since it is not very big!
Last weekend I found it hiding underneath some ink pads! I am so happy! And will be extra careful with it from now on! In case you want to know, the Happy Birthday on today's card is from that set. It's by Hero Arts and is called "Classic Sentiments".

To make the card, I mixed some Liquitex Heavy Gloss Gel with Marvy Ink pads and applied it over a stencil. I don't know why I don't use my stencils more often - it's so fun to play with them! Then I white embossed some stripes (an unmounted stamp I had for a long time and had never used) on grey, die cut the numbers, die cut them again out of foam and glued everything together. Some washi tape on a black strip of paper and there it is!

In the close up you can see the shine and texture of the gel better!

Stamp: Hero Arts (sentiment), DRS Design (stripes on the numbers)
Dies: Memory Box (numbers)
Other: TCW (stencil), Liquitex Heavy Gloss Gel

Happy Birthday, Cornelia!!!

Today I am here to wish Cornelia from "Stempel Spass" a very happy birthday! You probably all know her already and enjoy visiting her blog but if you haven't you absolutely should! Her gorgeous cards are sometimes graphic and modern, sometimes hilarious, sometimes show an awesome technique and she is on several design teams! While checking out her creations why don't you wish her a happy birthday?

Here is the card I made for her (should have arrived yesterday...)

Stamps: PTI (sentiment)
Dies: PTI (birthday)
Other: TCW (Microbial stencil), Viva (silver embossing paste), washi tape

Cornelia works a lot with stencils so I wanted to use one on her card. This one is new to me. I also hadn't used the silver embossing paste and the washi tapes!
