Use your imagination a little on this card, please. The Midweek Throwdown from Wednesday AND the June ODBD challenge was to use water on our cards. It's implied on my card, I guess!
The stamps are by Studio G (sentiment) and Inkadinkado (bird). Coloring is with Copics B0000, W3, B21, E11, Y17, and YR04. The background paper is what I started with on this card. I have been ever so slowly using this DCWV Pocket of Posies mat stack and I decided tonight to see if I could finish it up in the next few days. It's been hanging around at least four years, so it's time!

Flowers MWT
Although joining in OWH challenges was not one of the 2013 card making goals I set, it's been in the back of my mind that I've been slacking in this department since about mid-November.
Here's a flower card for the Midweek Throwdown. I used an old Cuttlebug die for the flowers, inspired by several cards featuring flower dies I've seen lately.
Rachel G. set a goal to include more details/embellishments on her cards. I thought that was an awesome goal and it caused me to add the gems to the sentiment panel and Glossy Accents to the flower centers. Thanks, Rachel, for the inspiration!

Tutorial and MWT All-in-one!
This week's Tuesday Tutorial was making a hot air balloon and the Midweek Throwdown was to make a love or anniversary themed card. Here's a two-fer:
Since I didn't have any stamps of hot air balloons nor any patterned paper featuring them, I made my own from a circle and trapezoid of paper along with some ribbons. Anyone can play along with this tutorial with some creativity!

I miss your hugs and kisses
Putting together papers from KI Memories, a stamp by Unity, chipboard by Making Memories, and Sketch #109 from Operation Write Home, this is what I came up with. I hadn't used any chipboard in ages but this little flower made me much happier with the card than I had been. I might have to keep digging in my chipboard stash! Don't you just love it when you rediscover some supplies you haven't used in a while?
I'm entering this in the OWH Midweek Throwdown for love cards. It's half missing you and half love- perfect for OWH, I think!

OWH Sketch 121 and Tropical MWT
Here's my take on OWH Sketch 121. I went with brights for the tropical colors Midweek Throwdown from Operation Write Home, so put on your sunglasses!
I used a 3/4" punch to add the circles to the vertical strips. The sentiment was computer generated and punched out with EK Success punches. Ribbon by Offray.
I've made it halfway through May with a blog post every day! My goal is to get through all of May with a daily post as part of the WordCount blog challenge. Have you been blogging more of late?

Have a Splendid Day!
I've been slowly using the paste paper I made way back in college over the past few months. This plum paper turned into 8 of these cards. Paste paper is meant to be used for the covers of handmade books, but since I've never made any books, I thought it would be great for cards. I love the variegated colors and kind of want to make more paste paper. Perhaps when I use up the dozen or so sheets I have, I will invest in the supplies to make more.

This card also uses a rose stamp from Inkadinkado, a sentiment from American Crafts, gems from Jo-Ann's dollar bin, and a corner punch. The corner punch helps this card qualify for OWH's midweek throwdown (though a corner punch is arguably the least interesting punch I could have chosen). It's also based on an OWH Sketch, did you notice? It's number 31!
Cards shipped to OWH in 2012: none thus far, but my box is filling up nicely!

MWT- GlitterLESS Bling!
This week's midweek throwdown on OWH Stars and Stamps is to use bling that is safe for our heroes (read: NO GLITTER).
I used some holographic Disney princess stickers to make six cards for heroes to send their daughters. Each card has a sparkly crown embellishment, too. The stickers didn't photograph well since they have two designs, sorry!

Cinderella, Belle, and Aurora:

Black, white, and...
...purple!
OWH asked us to make cards with black, white, and a splash of color. Most people are going for red, and I can't blame them. Black, white and red cards are some of my favorites. I had this piece of purple cardstock sitting on my desk from another project, along with the white cardstock with embossed hearts so I decided to put it to good use. I punched two additional hearts from my Sizzix Hearts #2 die, added Halloween ribbon (can you believe it?), a stamp by Scrappy Cat, and some gel pen accents.

Lovey dovey
OWH has partnered with Archway cookies again this year. If we OWHers can send in 5000 love or Valentine's Day cards by 12/10/11, Archway will be sending 5000 cookies overseas for our heroes.
I'm doing my part with 30 cards made thus far. Here are some I made this weekend.
This card also qualifies for the MWT to make a card without a sentiment- something that's so hard for me!

Silliest sentiment ever, but the paper on my desk matched the vellum, so I made the card!
I'm happy with my paper choices on this one. Not sure about the jewel, however.
This last card is fun, I think. There are 10 strips of paper tucked snuggly into the red envelope so the top ten reasons can be enumerated!

Abstract Design
I looked at my pajama top today and was inspired to make this card. I just used a variety of circle punches and some DCVW cardstock from various pads. It fits the Midweek Throwdown theme, too!

OWH MWT- Polka Dota and Hambo Hoedown #39
This card satisfies two challenges for this week. OWH Stars and Stamps asked us to make cards with polka dots, specifically with miss you, thanks, or birthday themes. Hambo Hoedown asked us to use their Newscaster digi to make a card that incorporated newspaper and one of their sentiments.
Patterned paper- KI memories
Punches- EK Success border, Armada corner rounder
Coloring- Bic Mark It
Remember, if you join Hambo's progressive digi, you'll get a new digi and sentiment set each week. It's a great way to collect awesome digis and keep making cards! This particular digi is perfect for my dad. He loves the news and the political talk shows on MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, and the like. Too bad his birthday won't be coming up for another 9 months or this would be the perfect card for him! Thanks for this one, Hambo!

OWH MWT- Masculine Cards
OWH is always in need of masculine cards for all occasions. I, like many crafters, have a harder time making such cards than in making girly, frilly cards. As luck would have it, my order from EK Success came today and it contained a masculine border punch! (Remember back in the summer when I kept posting asking for votes for my card? Well, I won 6th place and a $50 gift certificate for their website. I'll be matching that $50 for OWH.)
I got right to work with that border punch. I'd seen someone use it like a filmstrip long ago, and I wanted to do that myself. I'm sorry I can't give credit to the person from whom I got the idea, but I've long since forgotten who posted the card I have in mind.
I colored the set of SU Wonderful Woodcut stamps, punched them with a square punch, and layered them on the film strip. The senitment from Hampton Arts is layered on two punches, and the card has a vellum background overlaying a bold patterned paper from American Crafts.

For those of you who love Tim Holtz and Core'dinations papers, take a minute to enter this contest. You could win a signed stack of the paper from Tim. http://pages.exacttarget.com/coredinationsraf/?eKey=Blue1j4Xmc0Eg4ucdtElF0XSgE
