Jade Ellis is sent home from The X Factor after facing Union J in a shock sing-off

Gary Barlow gets his ultimate revenge! Jade Ellis is sent home from The X Factor after facing Union J in a shock sing-off

Jade Ellis has been voted off The X Factor following a shock sing-off against Union J.
The 25-year-old single mum found herself in the bottom two alongside the boyband after dividing opinion among the judges on Saturday evening with her rendition of Sugababes' Freak Like Me.
And despite performing a near note-perfect version of Dido's White Flag in Sunday night's result show, only her mentor Tulisa Contostavlos chose to keep her in the competition.

When asked by host Dermot O'Leary to deliver her verdict, Tulisa said: 'This is easy for me, that's my girl up there and she sang her heart out tonight.'
But it would seem Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Gary Barlow didn't feel the same way, controversially opting to save Union J, despite their rendition of Pink's F***in' Perfect featuring more than its fair share of bum notes.
Perhaps choosing to extract his ultimate revenge on Tulisa following their 'fag ash breath' argument the previous evening, Gary told Jade: 'Jade, you're a phenomenal singer, you're incredible. But sometimes I worry I want this for you more than you do.'

Telling Union J they would be staying in the competition, he said: 'Guys, I have been tough on you because I'm a band member myself. It's been good, but it's not been exceptional.
'I can see the commitment, I can see the ambition in your eyes. I'm excited to see what's next from you.'
Nicole agreed, saying: 'Union J, through your performance, your work, you've proved yourself to me so I have to send Jade home.'
Emotional: Both Louis and Tulisa were visibly distressed to find their acts in the bottom two

But she seemed confident of Jade's future in the record industry, telling her: 'Jade, you are a beautiful, beautiful young woman. You are a strong young woman who has been through so much.
You have one of my favourite voices in this competition and with a tone like that I know you're going to get a recording contract.'
Meanwhile, Union J's mentor Louis Walsh was emotional as he delivered his verdict.
Fighting back the tears, he said: 'Dermot, I'm the mentor for Union J, I love them and don't want to lose them so I have to send Jade home.'
Sing-off: Gary Barlow told Jade he worried she didn't want to win the competition enough

Tulisa seemed to be taking the blame for Jade's shock exit from the competition.
She said: 'Maybe I should have pulled some more ballads out the bag... I apologise if it is my fault. The future holds big things for her.'
But Jade was positive about her time in the competition, vowing to continue with her musical aspirations.
She told Dermot: 'To me, it's just been amazing experience. I thank you guys for your critiques and my life starts here.'
Taking the blame: Tulisa took full responsibility for Jade's exit from the competition, admitting she should have chosen a ballad for her again

Union J impressed the judging panel with their rendition of Beyoncé's Sweet Dreams the previous evening.
Nicole said: 'I thought that was absolute perfection. I thought it was brilliant because this week it's going to be crazy and you didn't need anything else. I love every single one of you - you stand there, you own it, you're honest - it was simple, it was beautiful.'
Louis added: 'I believe in this group so much, Union J fans please vote - the potential with you four guys is amazing.'
But Jade divided the panel with her up-tempo rendition of Sugababes' Freak Like Me.
Nicole didn't pull any punches, saying: 'Thank God it's Halloween because that was frightening. I'm sorry, but I just didn't get it. I don't' know the energy. I didn't believe it and i felt like you were a little awkward up there.'
Divided: Louis, Gary and Nicole all voted to save boyband Union J, with only Tulisa wanting to keep Jade in the competition

Tulisa argued back: 'I feel like everyone is forgetting about the themes that we have each week. Everyone learns along the journey and trying different things and she has taken a risk tonight by trying to dance and trying to do something different and I think she did really well with that.'
But that was far from Tulisa's biggest argument of the night, with her coming to blows with Gary after she criticised the song he had chosen for his act Christopher Maloney, saying to him: 'Gary, how many of these eighties classics are you going to let him keep destroying?'
Gary, who had clearly been contemplating his response while Tulisa spoke, then said: ''I don't know what's offended me more -  what you said or the fag ash breath!'
Sunday night's results show also saw the X Factor contestants perform a group rendition of Usher's Without You, while Robbie Williams and Fun also took to the stage.

Tulisa left devastated as 'mini N-Dubz' stars MK1 are voted off The X Factor

But they're not YOUR act! Tulisa left devastated as 'mini N-Dubz' stars MK1 are voted off The X Factor

MK1 became the latest stars to be voted off The X Factor on Sunday night.
After the duo's dramatic sing-off with Kye Sones, judges Gary Barlow, Tulisa, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh were given the task of choosing which act should go home.
But when a decision couldn't be reached by the judges, the vote was taken to deadlock - with MK1, aka Charlie and Sim, receiving the least amount of votes from the public.

Following the decision, Louis said that he was hoping the duo would still get a record deal, saying: 'We're genuinely good friends and I want them to get a record deal - somebody out there, sign them.'
Asked how they had enjoyed the experience, Charlie said: 'We have had the best time and thank you to everyone who voted for us.'
And Sim added: 'What we have achieved is amazing and we'll go forward coming out of this.'

The first judge to vote prior to deadlock was MK1's mentor Louis, who voted to send home Kye, saying: 'I am mentor for MK1 - I absolutely love Charlie and Sim and the act I am sending home is Kye.'
Gary was next to vote, telling his act Kye: 'That was one of the best sing offs I have ever seen on this show. You are the reason I wanted this category and I'm so sorry you're here. I'm sending home MK1 tonight.'
Nicole said: 'This is really hard for me. I am such big fans of MK1 - I love how fresh and current you are but I have to go off of the save me performance I just saw so the act I am sending home is MK1.'

And a visibly emotional Tulisa was last to comment, saying: 'MK1 from the second I saw you guys, you remind me of N-Dubz, you touch a soft spot for me.
'Kye that was an amazing performance, but MK1 you got up and sang a song that N-Dubz do on tour and that was the final straw for me.  If I don't stick up for my urban N-Dubz roots here, I'd be lying to myself. So the act I'm sending home is Kye.'
Tulisa's decision meant that the vote was then taken to deadlock, with Dermot announcing MK1 would be going home.

But the N-Dubz singer appeared distraught that the duo were being sent home, putting her head in her hands as the vote was announced.
Host Dermot O'Leary looked dapper in a double-breasted grey suit as he kicked off the show, although with a less energetic entrance than on Saturday night's programme.
Judges Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger, Tulisa and Louis Walsh then made their way onto the show,.
Nicole opted for a revealing black mesh dress, with bizarre structured hip panels, while Tulisa wore a pretty, shiny strapless black dress.

The finalists then made their way onto the stage, with Ella Henderson kicking off the performance of Ain't Nobody.
The backstage reactions from the Saturday night show showed Christiopher Maloney speaking after he was dubbed 'cheesier than Stilton' by Tulisa.
He said: 'If she doesn't get it then fair enough, but the public do get it and that's all that matters to me.'
MK1, who were told they shouldn't have done a mash-up of two songs, repeated Nicole's neqwly-coined phrase of 'Sch-mazing', while Gary said after Jahmene Douglas' performance: 'It's ike a vocal masterclass every week off of him - sensational.'

After James Arthur was labelled as having the performance of the series, James thanked Gary, while Gary then tipped Union J for big things.
The boyband said as they came off the stage: 'Gary is king of the boybands so high five for that!'
Following the performance from the always-controversial Rylan Clark, Louis said: 'He's a great entertainer and he puts a smile on everyone's faces, which is something Gary should learn to do.'
After Lucy Spraggan's performance of David Guetta's Titanium, complete with her own self-written choruses, her mentor Tulisa said: 'I just want her to translate to a commercial audience and that happened tonight, she's amazing.'

Kye Sones was left stunned after the judges compared him to Coldplay's Chris Martin, saying: 'I can't believe they said the Chris Martin thing, he's one of my biggest idols so I'm over the moon about that.'
Following District 3's performance, Tulisa said the competition was on between them and Union J, adding: 'It's a real battle of the boybands now.'
One of the most controversial comments of Saturday night's show came from Gary Barlow, when he said Ella Henderson's dance moves were too cheesy.
She's on a roll! Tulisa got it right again in her black strapless dress, while Nicole's bizarre sheer outfit failed to impress

But coming off stage after the performance, Ella said 'I didn't want to be the one trick pony that stood there and did ballads all week, so that's why I did that.'
The first guest performance of the evening came from Labrinth, who performed his collaboration with Emeli Sande for the first time on the show.
A far cry from his hit song Earthquake, Labrinth began the song in front of a baby grand piano, before Emeli then emerged in a stunning black and white dress to join him in the ballad.

Prior to the performance, Labrinth tweeted a picture of himself behind the judges' table, adding: 'X-Factor judge maybe?'
As Dermot spoke to the judges before JLS took to the stage, he brought up the fact that Gary's Take That bandmate Robbie Williams had backed Gary's most hated contestant, Rylan Clark, in a tweet on Saturday night.
Referring to the tweet, Gary said: 'It was going so well between the two of us but it's all over because of one tweet. In five letters it's all over!'
Dermot then asked each judge to tip one contestant for the exit on Sunday night's show.
Nicole picked Christopher Maloney, while Gary and Louis both thought Jade Ellis was in trouble, despite her illness.

However, Tulisa refused to pick any name, insisting: 'I'm not saying, it's too unpredictable. I'd be making it up so I'm not going to say anything.'
The next guest performance came from JLS, who found fame through the show back in 2010 and are now one of the most successful X Factor products in history.
The band, who looked dapper in their monochrome outfits, performed their Justin Timberlake-esque track The Hottest Girl In The World, flanked by stunning dancers in sexy secretary-style ensembles.
Speaking to Dermot after the performance, Aston said James Arthur was his favourite contestant, with his bandmates agreeing.

It was then time for the public vote to be announced.
First safely through was Union J, followed by Ella Henderson, James Arthur and Rylan Clark - much to the disapproval of Gary and some of the audience, who booed as his name was announced.
Next to go through was Christopher Maloney, who was also booed by the audience, quickly followed by Jahmene Douglas, District 3 and Lucy Spraggan.
The final act to be put through was Jade Ellis, who promptly burst into tears upon finding out that she was safe.

The decision to put the acts through meant that Kye Sones would take on MK1 in the sing-off.
First to perform was MK1, who sang The Script's The Man Who Can't Be Moved.
They were followed by Kye, who sang Bonnie Raitt's I Can't Make You Love Me. He was introduced by mentor Gary, who has already lost two acts, who said prior to the performance: 'I'm not sure what' going to happen here. Kye has had flu all week, he got through last night but he didn't have a voice this morning.'

X Factor favourite Ella Henderson stuns again as she hits the high notes in Minnie Riperton's classic

'A timeless goddess': X Factor favourite Ella Henderson stuns again as she hits the high notes in Minnie Riperton's classic

She's already stunned the judges and the audience several times since her first X Factor auditions many months ago.
And on Saturday night, Ella Henderson pulled off another perfect performance as she hit the high notes of Minnie Riperton's classic Lovin' You.
The 16-year-old got a round of applause mid song as she hit the F-sharp descending - an incredibly difficult note to sing.

Head judge Gary Barlow praised Ella for tackling such a challenging song: 'What a risk you took. The F-sharp descending. you completely nailed it. It paid off. Another great week for you.'
Nicole Scherzinger was full of praise for teen, who has previously moved her to tears: 'The difference between you and so many other artists is you are timeless and classic. You're a timeless goddess tonight.'
Louis Walsh tried to accuse her mentor Tulisa Contostavlos of trying to style her like Adele in her column Ted Baker dress, however the singer and her act insisted it was her own choice of outfit.

He said: 'It's so hard to believe you're only 16. You're a worldwide recording artist. I think your mentor has been looking at Adele and has been styling her that way.'
Ahead of her performance, Ella admitted she would find it hard to connect with the song because she's never been in love.
She denied speculation she was dating Union J's George Shelley, insisting they were 'best friends'.
The first performance of the night was Nicole's shy boy Jahmene Douglas, who managed a confident performance of Amy Winehouse's Tears Dry On Their Own, with a brief interlude of Ain't No Mountain High Enough.
Tulisa told the 21-year-old: 'You are looking very dapper tonight. I think the ladies are gonna be lining up after that.

'It's so simple when it comes to you. It's all about the voice. I can't fault you on any performance so far. Amazing.'
Louis was full of praise: ' You're one of my favourites ever, ever, ever. I wanna see you do so well. You are amazing.'
Liverpool Over 28s singer Christopher Maloney was up next, with his version of Heart's Alone kicking off the feud between Gary and Louis.

Louis said: 'You definitely gave it everything. Very cruise ship, very cabaret, very pub singer. It was a lazy song choice. It was a little bit cheesy for me.'
After telling Louis to stop being 'stupid', Gary was complimentary to his act: 'Changing you is not the way to go. You're perfect the way you are.'
Louis's boy band Union J were up next, hoping to improve after a negative response to their performance last week.

After meeting One Direction, they were given a confidence boost and channelled that into their rendition of Leona Lewis's Bleeding Love.
Gary took the opportunity to make a pop at Louis: 'What a total transformation from last week. Don't listen to Louis, listen to Kai. Well done boys.'
Tulisa was also pleased: 'Much better than last week. Much better song choice. I can hear the vocals. You've got a lot of potential. That was a good start.'

Another bookies favourite James Arthur did a stunning performance of Mary J Blige's No More Drama.
Ahead of his performance, he was amazed when Nicole arranged for him to have a conversation with the soul singer.
Tulisa was amazed: 'You've got this pain in your voice... I believe every single word you're saying. You are my favourite boy by far.'
Gary added: 'James, my God. you can really, really sing. You've got a lot of technique, but you pair it with emotion.
Singer/songwriter Lucy Spraggan surprised the judges and the audience by singing an upbeat song.

Although the theme was love and heartbreak, she insisted she didn't want the death of her grandmother on Monday to mean she ended up with the 'sympathy vote'.
She said in the VT: 'I want them to judge me on the performance, not what's happening.'
She impressed all the judges with an acoustic rendition of Kanye West's Golddigger.
Gary, who lost his baby daughter in the summer, said: 'I've experienced loss and sometimes the best thing is to go out and perform. Really good performance. Brave girl.'

Louis actually agreed with Gary on this occasion: 'You're a true professional. A very confident performer. You're a versatile performer.'
After a successful Week 1 performance, unfortunately District3 had a mixed response to their cover of All-4-One I Swear.
Tulisa liked it: 'I understand why Louis picked that song. Your strong point is your harmonies. You have the strongest harmonies in this competition.'
However, Gary said: 'I couldn't disagree. The harmonies were off. The song was in the wrong key... I'm talking Louis... I'm very disappointed tonight.'

Nicole got a bit over-excited as she said she wanted the trio to rub themselves 'in baby-oil and sing it like you mean it'.
Continuing to be the dark horse of the competition was Jade Ellis, who proved herself to be one of her stronger performances of the night.
The Londoner looked stunning in an asymmetrical dress as she sang Amy Winehouse's Love Is A Losing Game.
Gary said: 'Amazing performance. Simple, stylish, sexy. you look amazing. Your vocals were terrific. You did an amazing job.'

Louis added: 'You're a very sophisticated lady tonight. I think you're incredible. I think we can get more out of you.'
Gary also wasn't impressed with MK1's performance of Jackson Five's I Want You Back, dubbing it a bit 'Glee'.
He said: 'Good energy, good visuals. vocals a little bit weak. It's a little bit Glee this week. Don't let Louis have too much input into what you sing.'
Nicole had a mixed response: 'Sorry guys I didn't feel it this week. I think you guys were a little bit out of your element. The rapping was good.'

Gary's act Kai Sones also divided the judges with his rendition of Rihanna and Eminem's duet Love The Way You Lie.
Louis said: 'You're a great singer, you're a great performer. There's something missing...'
He ended up clashing with Gary again after complaining he was 'bored'.
Gary hit back: 'It's a non-comment Louis. Anyone out of the audience could have got up and said that.'
Nicole said: 'Kai that was a brilliant, brilliant song choice. Excellent vocals. But that performance didn't set me on fire. It just didn't grab me.'

As expected, Rylan Clark put on the biggest show of the night, accompanied by Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Wintour lookalikes as he sashayed down the catwalk.
The flamboyant Essex singer performed a mash-up of Groove Is In The Heart - Deee-lite and Gangnam Style.
Tulisa enjoyed it: 'Rylan, I've got to be real. It is a bit cheese and a bit karaoke, but it's blinking entertaining. I'm intrigued to see what you'll do next week.'

However, Gary made his feelings clear alluding to last week's sing-off with his own artist Carolynne Poole: 'Rylan, if this was competition for how many songs you could kill in two minutes, you would win hands down... I'm never gonna like this.'
Rylan tried to lightened the mood, by alluding to Gary storming off last week: 'I was bit worried so I booked you a cab...'
