A New Car!

So shortly after our return from spring break, Karl noticed that his car was acting sluggish.  When he was describing what it was acting like to me I was like "Oh no, that sounds like the transmission!"  When I was in college (before getting married)  the transmission went out in my car and that was exactly what happened to it.  Sure enough it was the transmission.  And with the age of our car it really wasn't worth fixing it.  So we decided we needed to trade it in and get something new.  It was bittersweet for us.  We love that old sentra.  For many years it was our only car.  It was the one we drove to and from Albuquerque during our brief stint there, the one we loaded with car seats to bring our two boys home from the hospital, so many memories.  We also were less than enthusiastic about the money for a new car but we bit the bullet and did it.  We bought a white Kia Rio and so far we are loving it.  We actually bought it new because it was the last of the previous year's left on the lot and they wanted to unload it to make room for new merchandise so we got a heck of a deal.  It was not much more than the used Rio they had, plus since it was new it came with a 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty and free maintenance services like oil changes and such for the first couple of years.

So long Sentra...

Hello Rio!!

Happy Birthday Summer!

Summer turned 8 on April 17.  It was a Sunday so we went to dinner on Saturday to The Training Table.  That is what she always picks.  On Sunday we went to my parents' house for Sunday dinner and did presents and homemade cookies and ice cream.  She requested my Great Grandmother's oatmeal chocolate chip cookies instead of cake.  Not a big cake eater.

Lightsaber that Steven made for her.

My parents always give their grandkids scriptures for their 8th birthday

Here are some fun facts about Summer at 8;
She loves unicorns and horses
She is very into Ever After High and will frequently be seen carrying the books around with her.
She loves to read.
She loves her kindle
She loves to play house with Annalisa.  She is the mom and they call me Grandma.
She loves to draw and color
She has an infectious giggle
She is super sweet and affectionate
She always wants me to play with her hair.
She loves shoes, especially mine
She loves jewelry
She was super excited for her 8th birthday so she could get baptized.
Summer is a sweetheart and such a blessing to our family.  I am so grateful to have her as my daughter.

Random April Happenings

Here are just a few random things from April:
Summer attended her first Activity Days before she officially turned 8.  The younger girls didn't have a good turnout at the last one before her birthday so they invited her.   She made these cute bunny babies.
 Some more random pictures.

Selfie of Summer and Me at the school.  Probably having lunch.

Got these cute bunny ears at an after Easter sale.  Also got a blue pair.

 Just goofing off!

Smartphones

So on our way home from our spring break trip, one of the kids spilled water on Karl's phone and the screen went out.  It was not fixable so we went in to replace it and decided to switch over to smartphones for both of us. Yes, we are behind the curve when it comes to technology.  Not a huge priority for us to spend money on.  But it wasn't that much more to switch over so we went ahead and did it.  Here are some of the first photos I took with my new phone.
Annalisa put this white t-shirt on her head and started pushing a baby around in a shopping cart.  Thought it made her look like an old-fashioned mama with a kerchief on her head.   Just thought it was funny.

Here is she drinking milk out of a little medicine cup.
