My New Kitchen

My kitchen is almost done and I have some people ask me to see pictures of it...of course I am happy to oblige.  I only wish I took pictures of it before it got demo-ed, so you can see the before and after..but the best I could do is take pictures of my cabinets that now hang in the garage.

Here they are...

I think they look great in the garage!  I love being able to hide all the ugly garage-y stuff in them!

But now on to the real stars of the show...

My new kitchen cabinets and counter tops!

What do you think?  I love it!!
We didn't change the layout, since we loved how open it was and the flow was perfect for cooking and baking.  We just wanted cabinets that weren't gnawed on by someone's dog, that didn't have holes in them, and that were an efficient use of the small space.

Here was one way that we used the space better.  Most of our cabinets were short because we have a bulk head that runs above them, but we had three cabinets that flank the sink that didn't have the shorter ceiling so we used taller cabinets there.  It also creates a little more interest aesthetically.  In the above picture you can see the shorter cabinet under the bulkhead and then two of the taller cabinets.  Love it!!

Here is a close up of one of the cabinet doors...love the color!

In this picture you can see my beautiful stainless steel sink.  My favorite part is that there is not a 12 inch crack with green epoxy decorating the bottom of it and as a result it doesn't leak ever!!! Love a sink that doesn't drip water!!  Check out my new blind too!  Isn't it so perfect!  And to think Nate and I hung it up by ourselves and so far it hasn't even fallen down!!

Here is my beautiful island.  Islands are important in our family!  My girls play on the island all day long.  It is really unusual to find the island without Polly Pockets, castles, stuffed animals, baby dolls, doll high chairs, and plastic food.  But I love to have them near as I am cooking and working in the kitchen.  We also discovered as we destroyed our old island that there was a live - yes live - electrical wire in the bottom of it.  We decided to use it to install an electrical outlet on the island.  I use it almost everyday especially when the girls and I are baking together.

A close up of my quartz counter top.  It is a light tan with dark brown speckles.  I love the contrast with the dark cabinets.

Another view...You can also see where we need to replace the tile in the corner on the floor too.  A job for another day!

One of my favorite features is the big drawers on the bottom cabinets.  It is so much easier to get to my pans, now that I don't have to get down on my knees and rummage through a shelf.

I also love this shelf that pulls out of the corner.  There are two of them and are so big that all my appliances fit on them.  Every time I pull it out I smile because it is so cool!

I also have a lazy susan in my upper cabinet in the corner.  So easy to reach all the items and nothing gets lost in the back!  Love it!

Last but not least...we also got a new microwave.  It is so nice that it hangs straight and never makes a loud popping sound like our old one did!

So thankful for my new kitchen...definitely makes cooking for my family a lot more fun!
