A New Washer and Dryer!!

A month or so ago we were out and about running errands and we decided to stop by RC Willey to check out the washers and dryers.  We have been saving for a new set for awhile and we wanted to look again.  We weren't planning on actual purchasing a set since it is behind a new fence on our priority list.  We were just going to look.  But then we found a display model washer that they were clearancing out.  It was super cheap $500 with a regular of $1300.  It was marked down so much because the door was broken where a customer had slammed it and it didn't shut right.  But the thing was, our laundry room is set up opposite of the standard way.  Ours is washer on the right, dryer on the left.  Most are the opposite so most dryers open with the door swinging to the left.  In our set up that would be the door in the way of the dryer.  All dryers have reversible doors but very few washers do.  Because they have to seal themselves while running it is much more involved to make a washer reversible.  In fact, in our research the only brand we found that made washers with the reversible doors is Electrolux.  Well it just so happens that this washer was Electrolux.  And since we would be switching the door anyway, the broken door didn't matter.  It was only broken on the one side so as soon as they switched it, it worked fine!!   They only had the washer there but the salesman called around and found a dryer in the Reno store.  It was also a floor display that was being clearanced though not as low as the washer since it didn't have the damaged door.  Plus they were clearancing out the pedestals with them so they weren't stuck with the pedestals and no washer/dryer to go with them (this particular model is being discontinued).  So we really got a steal.  And it just so happened that they were a beautiful blue color, so bonus!!!  It is called Mediterranean blue!!

We love the set and it proved to be a very smart thing to buy them.  It took nearly two weeks to get them delivered since we were  waiting for the dryer to arrive.  During that time our old washer took a turn for the worst and stopped draining properly.  We would have to run the spin cycle like 3 or 4 times to get all the water out.  It was annoying.  So we were so happy a new set was on the way.  They work great and have double the capacity of our old set so we can get the laundry done faster!!  Yay!!

Here are some other random things:
Matthew is very into history right now particularly the presidents.  His grandmother recently have him some cards with facts about all the presidents and he carries them around and is always telling us random facts about them.  He says his favorite president is Abraham Lincoln so one Sunday Karl let Matthew wear his Abraham Lincoln tie to church.  It was  a bit big on him.  But still looked great!!

Summer recently gave her first talk in primary.  Or I should say "tried" to give it.  It was on baptism.  We practiced with her all week and she did great.  Then on Sunday she went up there and wouldn't say a thing.  She just stood there smiling with her hands over her mouth.  Silly girl!  So Steven got up and gave it for her!  Thank heavens for big brothers otherwise I would have had to give it and I didn't want to.
This pic isn't from that day, just a random one.

April Pack Meeting

For our April Pack Meeting we had the local firefighters come and speak to the kids.  Afterward they took the kids out to see the ambulance.  The truck was unfortunately not there because it had gotten called to a brush fire.  The kids really enjoyed it and had lots of questions.  Karl told Matthew to ask them why our town's firetrucks were yellow instead of red.  So he did.  It makes me laugh how different my kids are from me.  I would never have asked a question, I was way too shy.  But Matthew asked that one and Steven asked one too "What if your whole house was on fire?"  The answer "That's not good, get out as fast as you can!"  Oh and the answer to Matthew's question was for two reasons. One historical (early firetrucks were yellow), and two-red is the most popular color choice for cars so they felt that yellow made them more noticeable since there are as many yellow cars.  I thought that was kind of funny because I would think a big firetruck with sirens would be noticeable no matter what color they are.

I am so thankful for the brave firefighters who work so hard to keep our town a safe place.

Good-bye to Grandma

The following Saturday after Summer's birthday we got one last chance to see Karl's mom.  She had been staying with Karl's brother a little over an hour away the past week.  She called and asked if we wanted to meet them to go bowling.  We met them all at a pizza buffet place, sorry can't remember the name.  It was similar to a CiCi's if you have ever been there.  Afterward we went bowling.  It was a lot of fun.  My sister-in-law Alicia did awesome.  She bowled either a spare or a strike every frame until like the 8th or something.  Wow!!  Me, I am not much of a bowler but it was fun all the same.  After bowling Grandma bought ice cream.  We all said good-bye.  Before heading home we stopped by the mall because I had a coupon for a free lotion from Bath and body works that had to be used that day and our mall would be closed by the time we got home.  After that we went to the BYU creamery for some of their very yummy chocolate milk.  Hands down the best chocolate milk I have ever had so we try to get some every time we are down there.   It is a fun treat.  Then we went home.
I could have sworn I brought the camera and took pictures but I must be remembering wrong because I don't have any.  So sorry this is a short, pictureless post.  I just wanted to get it down so I have a record of it!

Summer's Birthday

We had a fun day on Summer's birthday.  She helped me to make her unicorn birthday cake.  I think it turned out pretty cute.

Then we met Grandma and Grandpa at the Golden Corral for dinner.  That was where Summer wanted to go.

The servers sang "Happy birthday to her

Afterward, Summer opened the presents from my parents in the car.  The original plan was for them to come back to our house but we had to stop at the store on the way home and they decided they didn't want to do all that.  So we opened them in the parking lot.
