The Viewing

So apparentally we have misplaced the CD that all of our pictures from Ohio were on.  Luckily I think we have already given a copy to Karl's sister who is compiling all the pictures so they are not gone forever.  I just don't have them on me right now.  I am hoping to a pictures post as soon as I get the pictures but I am going to go ahead and blog about the events because I really want to get my blog caught up.
Thursday morning we slept in a little, unheard of for my kids so they must have been tired.  We went and had a yummy breakfast in hotel dining area.  They had waffles, sausage, eggs, bagels, doughnuts.  After breakfast we took the kids swimming since we knew we were going to have a late night and wouldn't be able to later.  After we were all changed afterward we decided to go to lunch and then we were supposed to go and pick up Karl's brother Kendall from the airport.  Karl's brother Kevin called and we decided to all get together for lunch.  We went to a place call Buffalo Wild Wings.  We have never been there since there aren't any here so Kevin and Jenn just ordered for everyone.  It was pretty good and was very fun to spend some time with Kevin and Jenn and their kids since we don't get to see them very often.  The boys had a lot of fun with Patrick and John and Summer loved all the attention Amy gave her.  She loves "big" girls.  After lunch we decided that Karl and Kevin would go and get Kendall from the airport.  It was nice for the 3 brothers to get to visit.  We all met up again at Karl's mom's house and got into our respective cars because it was time to go and get ready for the viewing.
The viewing was held at the church, this was the first time I had ever seen that.  When we got there both foyers were full of pictures and other memorable from Randy's life.  It was neat to see as was all the support from family and friends.  Pretty much everyone from the family live faraway but still all of Randy's siblings, including the wives of his deceased brothers came and so did many of Janet's siblings.  It was wonderful to have so many there.
The viewing was 4 hours long and I didn't think there was anyway that their would be enough people to take up the time but I was wrong.  There was a steady stream of guests the whole time.  We were grateful for Karl's cousins who watched the kids in the nursery for most of the night since 4 hours is way too long for them to be at the viewing.  Our kids did really well except for a couple of potty incidents with Summer.  She had an accident so we threw a pull-up on her so we wouldn't have to worry about it but then she kept taking it off!!  Agghhh!!
After the viewing, a ward that Karl's parents had lived in previously put on a dinner.  It was a very nice dinner with sandwiches and salads.  Dessert was Oreos and fudge striped cookies because they were Randy's favorites.
It was very late when we got back to the hotel and the next day would start very early so we went straight to bed.
Here is the only picture from the viewing that I have in possession right now, borrowed from my sister-in-law.  This was one of the tables of pictures in the foyer.  These were also out during the funeral.

Off to Ohio!!

After our busy Saturday we had a quiet Sunday.  Monday morning Karl went to work as usual and spent the day getting the store ready for his absence, writing notes, giving instructions, etc.  I spent the day doing the last minute cleaning and packing.  Karl got off work a couple of hours early, we loaded the van and were off.  We made it to somewhere in Wyoming that night, I forget which town exactly.  We got to the hotel and just crashed because it was late and we wanted to get an early start the next morning.  The next day our goal was to make it to Davenport but we didn't quite make it that far.  We stopped early enough that we were able to take the kids swimming and then we ordered pizza for dinner.  The next day we made it to Ohio!!  It was Wednesday afternoon that we got to our hotel.  We checked in and then went to Karl's mom's house for a bit.  That night the whole family got together for pizza in the park.  Unfortunately in our hasty departure we forgot our camera.  Luckily we were later able to borrow our niece's camera and get some pics.  We are eventually going to compile pictures and have them all but we don't have them yet so pictures of the family picnic will be forthcoming!!  Here is one picture that I have-
Jared and Steven

I don't remember if we took the kids swimming that night or if we just went straight to bed.   Those days were such a whirlwind that it is hard to remember everything that we did.

Founder's days

So Saturday night (I believe it was Aug 6) We went with my parents' to their town's founder's day festival.  My sister Cindy and her family came too.  We had a lot of fun!!  The kids loved the bouncy houses:

After they played for a while we went and had dinner.  The kids got pizza and Karl and I got sandwiches.  The food was good but way too pricey for what we got.  After dinner the kids got free otter pops.  Then they did this fun fishing game and fished for toys, and they were good toys too!!

Summer got two stuffed animals from the fishing pond

Can't remember what Matt got!

Steven got a bob the builder door hanger and a car kit, to build his own car

We ended the evening by letting the kids ride the mini train!!
