Bringing things up to date!

Getting behind yet again so I thought I would do a post to get things caught up. I have been really bad at taking pictures lately so I am sorry that there won't be any pics in this post.
We celebrated Mother's day about a week and a half ago. I know a lot of moms out there hate mother's day because it makes them feel guilty, inferior, etc, etc, etc. I, however, LOVE Mother's day. Not because I because I think I need to be spoiled or pampered (though I have to admit, that is nice too:)) The real reason I love mother's day is because it is a reminder to me of how blessed I am to be a mother. Not everyone has that blessing and I am so grateful for it. The journey to motherhood was not an easy one for me and there was a time when I wondered if I would ever be blessed with children. Obviously that fear did not come true and I have been blessed with three amazing children. In the busyness of everyday life it is easy to take that blessing for granted or to even complain about it (I know I am guilty of this) so for me Mother's day is a great reminder that it is a wonderful blessing to be a mom. I got very spoiled this year as usual. Karl and the kids made me breakfast in bed-pancakes, my great grandma's recipe which is one of my favorite breakfast foods. Matthew made me a beautiful paper flower in school and a card which said this (the words in quotes are the ones he filled in the rest was printed on:

Super Mom

My Mother is the most wonderful mother in the whole world!

She's as pretty as "butterfly"

She weighs "30" lbs and is "5" tall.

Her favorite food is "fruit".

In the good old days when my mother was little she used to "pick flowers".

My favorite thing about my mother is "she lets me go to the snack shack".

If I could get my mother something special just from me it would be a car.

I wouldn't trade my mother for a "chapter book".

Happy Mother's Day!

Cute, huh! In preschool Steven made me a stepping stone out of cement with his handprint and picture on it. A treasure for sure.

Summer with a little bit of help gave me a shirt and necklace. As if that wasn't enough Karl gave me a necklace, bracelet, and earring set.

For dinner that night Karl made me some of his yummy lasagna and for dessert we had jello no bake peanut butter cup dessert. Delicious.

Thanks so much to my sweet hubby and kids for making such a special day for me.

Last weekend our local grocery store had a fun pirate activity in honor of the new pirates of the Caribbean movie. They had a free bounce house, cotton candy, popcorn, face-painting, cake walk and a treasure hunt. You could also get a hot dog, bag of chips, and soda pop for 25 cents. We fed our whole family lunch for $1.25. Can't beat that! .The kids had a blast!

We found who the kids are having for teachers next year. Matthew's teacher is Mrs Hansen (we don't know anything about her) and Steven's is Mrs. Phillips. We are really excited that he got Mrs. Phillips because we know her. She is the primary president in our ward.

I think that about brings up to date!!

Easter part 3

Easter morning the kids woke up and found their Easter baskets. Matthew's was basket was very tricky because the Easter Bunny had covered it with a blanket. They all got some fun things in their basket.

The kids all looked cute dressed up in their Easter clothes. Sorry about the pictures. there was a smudge on the camera lens.

Easter part 2

After the egg hunt we stopped at the Walgreens by there to pick up some stuff that Karl needed for his store. Then we headed to Karl's store to get pictures taken with the Easter bunny. They took the pictures but I stuck them somewhere and can't find them. Hopefully I'll find them soon. I did take these pictures of Matthew with our camera but my cell phone rang so I walked away to answer it and didn't get pictures of the other two. If I find them I will scan them and post them. Summer was scared to death of the bunny and the only way we could get pictures of her with it was to have Karl hold her next to the bunny.

After we got the pictures done, Karl had to do payroll so we hung around and shopped and the kids sat in breakroom and drew pictures while we waited for him to finish. Then we had to run some stuff out to another store. By then it was lunchtime so we went and had lunch at winger's. The kids love to eat there because they have complimentary popcorn.
Later that afternoon we went to my parents' house for another egg hunt. My sister and her family were there too. It was a lot of fun for the kids.

Easter, part 1

The Saturday before Easter was a busy but fun day for us. First thing in the morning we went to the Air force museum for an egg hunt. Walgreens was providing volunteers (Karl was one) to help and also sponsored the big prizes. Summer and Steven were in the same age group and Matthew was in the age group ahead of them. It was a lot of fun for the kids. It was nice because there were a ton of eggs. Both Matthew and Steven got their baskets full and Summer got about 1/2 a basket full even though she got a late start. When they blew the whistle and all the kids started running for the eggs, it freaked her out so she stood there crying for few minutes. Finally she started decided it wasn't scary and went for it. It was strange because things like that don't usually scare her. It was nice that there were plenty of eggs because I have been to so many where the kids only get like 1 or 2. It is completely pointless. I think we have found a new tradition though.

see that basket full of eggs!

Finally, she's off!
