The Weekend

So last week Karl was super busy with inventory working long hours and we hardly ever saw him. A couple of evenings we would take dinner to the store and eat it with him there so the kids could see him. That is a definite blessing of him working so close to home. On Thursday he worked from 6 am to 10:45 pm. So needless to say that we were ready for Friday to come so inventory would be over. It went very well and Karl was home by 3:00 on Friday-yay! he was early. So we decided to catch the 4:30 showing of Toy Story 3 that was playing at the dollar theater. Our boys have been dying to see it, especially Steven who is our Buzz Lightyear fanatic. We were to cheap to go to the expensive theater. We enjoyed the movie though it was a bit darker in places than the first two and Summer got a little scared in a few parts but it was a good movie. The kids enjoyed the popcorn and drinks also! After the movie we came home and fed the kids dinner and got them to bed.
The next day the kids had a primary practice for the primary program. And after they were going to have a pizza party. We dropped them off and then Summer was feeling sad because she was being left out again so we took her to Barnes and Noble so she could play with the Thomas train set they have. While she and Karl did that I went to Old Navy which was right next door and got some amazing deals. After that we went to a craft boutique that was going on that day. They had lots of cute things and we bought a cute plaque that says "Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breaths away." Had to get it since it was almost exactly the subtitle on my blog!

Then we went and picked the boys up from the practice. That afternoon Matthew really wanted to carve one of the pumpkins on our front porch. We have never carved pumpkins before. It is too messy and they last longer if you don't and we can usually keep them into November instead of having to throw them out after Halloween. But this year we compromised and told him we would carve one pumpkin. Here are pictures of our very first jack o'lantern.

Pumpkins seeds, anyone?

Later that evening we dropped the kids off with my parents and went to a wedding reception, then we went to dinner and a movie for a fun date night. We saw Life As we Know it or something like that. It is the new Katherine Heigl movie. It had a really cute plot but as usual they had to ruin it with a lot of innuendo and language. For dinner we went Mexican and it was delicious. I LOVE Mexican food!
Sunday the boys both did great in the primary program. Steven and his entire class said a part together "I know my Savior lives and loves me." Matthew's part was in response to a question. They asked "Why do you follow Jesus?" Matthew said "When I follow Jesus it makes me happy!" Apparently they had asked each kid a question in primary and whatever their answer was that became their part. So I guess you could say that Matthew wrote his own part.

Later that evening we had dinner at my parents house and then we came home and had some friends over. It was a fun weekend.

Hay Ride!!

On Tuesday, Summer and I were able to go on a hayride to the pumpkin patch with Steven's preschool class. His class is right next to a farm and the farmer gave the kids a hayride to his own pumpkin patch and let each of the kids pick a pumpkin. Steven and Summer both loved the hay ride and were so excited to get a pumpkin. The preschoolers sang some of the Halloween songs they have learned and we had some yummy pumpkin chocolate cookies!

Today Summer was "changing" Dipsy's diaper. She had him on a washcloth (instead of a towel) and was wiping him with a wipe. She is so funny!

trip to temple square

So we really haven't done much lately. Karl has been working a lot with his store having inventory on Friday. We are planning some fun things for this weekend since his inventory will be OVER! So stay tuned for those!

I decided to take advantage of the lull to get caught up some more from the summer.

On Saturday August 7 we went to temple square. I was glad we did this on a Saturday so that Karl could come too. We walked around the temple grounds and went through both visitor's centers. Of course the play area in the north visitor's center was a favorite for the kids but the grown ups loved the replica of the temple in South visitor's center.
Afterward we went and had lunch at the food court.

They had this little newborn nursery area with these dolls and everything that you need to take care for them! The little girls could have stayed there all day; I know I have way too many pictures but I couldn't choose. They were all too cute!
