Steven's 4 year old pics

We took Steven in for his 4-yr-old pictures last week. They turned out cute. Here are some fun facts about Steven at 4: He pronounces "piano" as "compano" Instead of saying "I forgot" He says "I be forgot". He loves Buzz Lightyear. He loves scripture study and never lets us forget to have it. He likes to eat cereal. He is a great big brother, Summer just loves him and thinks he is the funniest kid.

Happy Birthday Steven!

We had a fun weekend last week celebrating Steven's birthday!

On Thursday, we went to a Pirate games activity at our library. The kids had a lot of fun!

"Thar she blows" They had to blow this balloon across the rope. Pretty much impossible for them; we had to help them.

On Friday July 16, it was Steven's actual birthday. We went to McD's for dinner and then headed over to a carnival our town was having for Heritage Days. The kids had a lot of fun riding the rides. We didn't think Summer would want to ride the rides but she wanted to ride everything! She was disappointed that they wouldn't let her ride the boats because they said she was too small. She was allowed to ride everything else though.

When Matt and Summer opted to ride the merry-go-round a second time Steven wanted to ride these motorcycles

I don't know what it is about these boats that makes them so much more dangerous than everything else but the operator would not let Summer ride them.

After the carnival, we went home and Steven opened some presents (stars wars guys, a singing puppet, and a giggly shark) and we had cupcakes.

karl enjoyed the singing puppet

The boys love this giggling shark but Summer is scared of it.

Have you ever seen a messier girl than this?

The next day we had Steven's party. I attempted to make some Lego cakes but they turned out terrible. Karl told me they looked fine but then Matthew walked in and said "You're right mommy those don't look very good." Trust the 6-yr-old to tell you the truth. First of all the colors were wrong. I used the gel coloring which normally gives a bolder color but this brand just gave me pastels like the liquid. and then the cakes just didn't go together well even though I followed the directions to the letter. We went to DQ and bought an ice cream cake. For the party, my parents, grandmother, my sister, and her family came and my brother came but his fiancee was out of town for a family reunion. Later Karl's brother and his fiancee came but we forgot to get the camera out while they were here. Steven got some great gifts: a scooter, an art set, books, puzzles, games and lots more.

the disasterous lego cakes. I didn't even finish frosting the blue one.

The DQ cake looks much better.

That night we had pizza for dinner. As part of heritage days they set off fireworks that evening. Since we live so close to the park where all the festivities were being held we were able to watch them from our backyard. We put the kids to bed and then tried to wake the boys up because they really wanted to see them. But they wouldn't get up. So Karl and I enjoyed them. Matt was pretty mad that he missed them but Karl had tried about 4 times to wake them. It was a fun day!

Pretty good view from our backyard!

Karl took these next two pictures of Steven "reading" his scriptures. I thought they were sweet!

He kept saying things like "and it came to pass.." and "for behold"

Doesn't the light shining on him make him look so angelic?
