New couches!

On Saturday we got our new couches! It was so exciting because this is the first time we have ever had new couches! We were a little annoyed though because the delivery guys called us at 7 am and told us they would be coming between 7:30 and 8:30. Am I the only one who thinks that calling at 7am is too early? He woke up all three kids. Plus we never imagined that they would come that early and we had arranged with our brother-in-law to come with his trailer and haul away the old couch at 8 am. We never thought they would come before that. So they delivered the couch and the love seat and we still hadn't gotten rid of the old couch. Our original plan was to haul the couch that was in the basement to the dump. Then we would move the couches that were in our living room to the basement and put the new couches in the living room. Of course, things never work out the way you plan them. Karl and Nate could not get the couch out of the basement. The corners were too tight. Now we know why the people that we bought the house from sold us the couch too. We have no idea how they got them down there in the first place. Since we were throwing out the couch anyway our neighbor came over with a saw and sawed the thing in half! That whole ordeal left us with a nice hole in the wall. Luckily Karl knows how to fix it. After they got the old couch out of the basement they tried to get the couches upstairs moved downstairs but once again were unable too. We ended up having to haul those away too. So now all we have in our basement is a chair, a rocking chair and 4 banana chairs! We are glad our neighbors had given us the banana chairs the week before! We love our new couches but are afraid of the kids ruining them! Luckily we got the fabric protection put on them. They are micro-fiber and a pretty sage green color!

The last couple of weeks have been hard for us, just really challenging. Yesterday I was having a really bad day and the kids just weren't listening to me at all. I called Karl at work all frustrated. A few hours later there was a knock at my door; it was someone delivering these beautiful flowers from my wonderful husband. They are pink gerber daisies which are favorites of mine! I think I have the greatest husband in the world! He definitely made my day!

My beautiful flowers!

When I got the camera out to take pictures of the flowers Summer thought I should be taking pictures of her!

This morning Summer found two of her jackets in the bottom of the closet. They must have fallen off the hangers. Anyway she wanted me to put both of them on her at the same time. Then she walked around grinning. I never thought she could look bulky but she sure did with the two jackets on. It looks like she has outgrown the one on top!

It is hard to see both jackets because they are similar colors but if you look look closely you can see them!

This one is a little bit easier to see because you can see both zippers. One is green and on the left. The other is white and on the right!

Happy New Year!

New Year's Eve we went to my parents' house for their annual New Year's Eve party. We had a yummy dinner of chili and cornbread. Then later, after the kids' went to bed we played games and had chips, veggies, and dip and pop. We played Ticket to Ride and Phase 10 Twist. We watched the ball drop at midnight and then got the kids up and went home.
On New Year's Day we went to RC Willey to look at couches. The kids tore the upholstery on our couch in the basement so we needed to get something new. We have never bought new couches before, we have always had second hand ones. We found a leather couch and a micro-fiber couch. We wanted something durable and these were the two most durable types. We decided we needed to think about it. The leather is the most durable but it was also quite a bit more. If we got the leather we would only be able to get the couch whereas if we got the micro-fiber we would be able to get both the couch and a matching love seat.
After RC Willey we took the kids bowling. We did this last year on New Year's and the kids loved it so we decided to try it again. Karl and the boys bowled. I opted to sit out because I wasn't feeling very well. It was funny though because we had the lane right next to my cousin's husband and some of their kids. After that we went to my parents house for a little while. I forgot to bring my camera to the bowling alley but I took these pictures earlier in the day!

Summer having a light saber fight with Karl. Sorry it's a little blurry-she was moving!

Saturday, the 2nd Karl had to go into work for a few hours. Then we dropped the kids off at my parents house and went to see New Moon. It was a good movie. It was much better than the first but I am not a huge fan of the series because I don't like Bella. I think she is moody, selfish, hypocritical and I hate the way she treats Jacob.
Anyway, after the movie Karl and I went to lunch and then to pick up the kids. After that we went to RC Willey to buy our new sofas!! We decided to go with the micro-fiber and then we had them put the fabric protection on it. So the fabric is now under a 7 year warranty. They are delivering the couches on Saturday. We still have to get rid of the old one before then. Then we will move the couches in the living room down to the basement and put the new couches in the living room. I am so excited to have a new matching couch set!
On Sunday we went to church and Steven started primary. I went with the boys to the primary room and it was so cute because they were holding hands the whole way. Matthew was being such a sweet older brother and made sure that Steven knew where to go. After church we asked the boys what they learned in primary and Matthew said that he learned about choosing the right! Then without missing a beat Steven said that he learned about choosing the left! What a little tease-where do they come up with this stuff at such a young age!

Already for church on Steven's first day of primary. Matthew started CTR 6. Summer was the only one that didn't start a new class. She was crying because we wouldn't let her bring her baby doll to church.

Oh Summer, what a sad face!
