yea. today was...tchrs day celeb. =.=

as usual, performances all the way.
this year's one was alright, except the song spammage at the end was abit sian.
haha. dismissed at 9.30 sia! woots

realised it was too early to immediately go to pri sch since they have like normal lesson schedules, so went to macs with zhixuan for...breakfast if u could call it? XD

and...he was eating hotcakes but he didnt eat the butter. so heres what he DID do with it:

haha. den walked around J8 cos was seriously dam sian and zhixuan was also waiting for his frens from cat high. seriously like go everywhere arnd J8... >.< used up 45mins, then decided to leave for mshs. met hok yiu on bus 13 LOL. din realise till i got off to change bus...

reached mshs at about 11+. there was like, 4 ppl there. me, hok yiu, chong you, ben chua. so was dam sianz. waited dam long, ppl started coming, then we had abt 12guys from the class 6G of 2004. fyi, 12 out of 42 sia. dont ask me where the 30 went, i dont know >.<

its really dam nice to reconnect with ur old friends again, after a long one year (esp after one of tests and homework and assignments and all the like). talked about quite some stuff...sch life cca etc etc etc. dam fun =D

oh ya the day doesnt end yet. then we (me, desmond, kitmeng and hok yiu) took 158 to serangoon interchange. hok yiu zao-ed home, and we went for lunch. after that we went our separate ways...=( abit sad...one year difference before meeting again.

hmm yea, that pretty much sumps up what happened today. sep hols have finally started, but its not that desirable really. 2 bio assignments, 1 bio pt/groupwork, 2 blog article reviews/reflections, 2 NP courses, prepare for jap EOY oral exam, and phy make-up lesson. hmm i seem to have said all these in my previous post b4, but doesnt matter. point is the schedule isnt exactly very nice. =(

and the title of the story is uh, the title of today's post.

very cool so i shall tell you about it.
note: im actually translating from chi to eng. pro eh? =D

type 1: the non-opening-up friend. nvr talks about his own thoughts/ideas, and its very difficult to point out his flaws/weaknesses. makes people doubt his true intentions.

type 2: the fake friend. they appear very friendly on the outside, everything follow you etc, but inside them they have other motives. best to identify what these motives really are.

type 3: the "gain" friend. they're like super glue, once they stick on to you its extremely troublesome. they nvr get enough of koping advantages/benefits from you, and if they dont get it, they'll dao you like siao.

type 4: the rumour-spreading friend. they're not good at many things, but their forte is probably the ability to spread rumours/lies, they can even make "facts" appear out of nowhere. if 2 of these ppl consist in a group, its difficult to keep the group together.

type 5: the "looks nice but isnt" friend. they're even scarier than the rumour-spreading ones, though they appear to take you as their good friends on the surface, but deep down if you even cause any disadvantage/harm to him, he'll turn ugly.

type 6: the untrustworthy friend. they make lots of empty promises, and turn up empty handed wuthout any work done. no sincerity in his promises, best not to assign him important tasks to do.

type 7: the "talk for the sake of talking" friend (hmm sounds familiar. remember reading a passage about it in the most recent chi cct? XD ). they just talk big, and talk those stuff that are purely entertainment's sake. meaning that if you get along with this kind of people, your chit-chats wont get you far. no meaning one ma.

type 8: the chameleon. dont think i need to elaborate much. when you're in a good way, they come and pay respects to you like ur some god, then when ur down, they zao to find another guy to pray to or sth.

type 9: the overly-enthu friend. too curious, asks way too much about your matters. which makes it kind of tiring to "entertain" them, in a sense.

type 10: the overly-cold friend. they may be born introverted or sth, so they dont like to socialise much. even if you approach him and try to be friendly, he doesnt seem to reciprocate much. might as well forget about these ppl!

so, are you any one of these friends? if so, you'd have to do something about it...=)

today's training was...weird, in a sense.

got to take sec2s, since uh, i was applying for sec3nco. apparently sebastian was looking for..."potential" sec3ncos, so to speak.
and he was...overlooking/judging/spectating???
btw there were only 3 of us there, me, yak and lennard.
wa then i was forced to take them for pt...yak n1 make me do it >.<

er wouldnt say pt went extremely well or something like that. it was real short, so basically they didnt do much. spent most of the time at the pullup bar looking at the "noobs" finish theirs.
so then was drills...yak was taking for 1st half, me n lennard were like stoning away cos he was supposed to be the main guy.
wa then he actually forgot most of the sizing up commands...quite gg =(
then sebastian said we (me n lennard) were stoning around too much, should go around point out mistakes interact with them etc.

pfft. like i want.
sec2s got some REAL guailan ppl. eg shawn, dhivian etc i think. wa seriously damn guailan la, ask shawn raise leg up properly while doing hentak, come fake for awhile, then march awhile hentak again, hai. u know what happened, he was hentak-ing at some 20 degrees. dam pro, caught him like 2/3 times, nvr change.

then sebastian was giving feedback...
dam nice la. guess what he said.

wth. like, i was taking them for PT?? what you want then, its not like i wanted, i wanted to take drills one lor. sure owned out of the 3 of us, at least. can say what they dont respect me, wth like sebastian had asked them to purposely make things difficult for us. then after that come guailan. zzz. obvioulsy im not exactly feeling great after that kind of comment =.=

oh well, at least i feel alot better letting it out. can concentrate fully for the next 1hr+ for phy...>.< yea i know its a dam short time.
also, perhaps sebastian DID make a few good points worth noting:
-planning of activities etc isnt some plan-one-week-in-advance thing, its mostly impromptu (at least for nco), depending on what you can make use of etc
-you have to be able to control them...eg make sure they dont laugh during drills etc.
er cant remember any more points, due to the scattered thoughts at the moment.

another note, now im getting a kind of dilemna. maybe this squad isnt that "preferable" after all, with so many guailan-ers. its really difficult to change their attitude when...this year they've been given so much space/freedom to do this kind of thing like its allowed and all. i can tell, it will be very difficult indeed. however...current sec1s, though not as uh guailan, but they're quite stony. as in u ask for a volunteer and such, they either lag, or act like they didnt hear/understand your words. ><
hai. whats the use of saying this now, interview is already over, my verdict wont be changed. but perhaps it'll get screwed if sebastian c&p what he said to me to the other sec4s/exco... hai.
doesnt matter la. think i'll just make the best of whatever i get. hey, i mean leading can always be learnt right? but obviously i would still want a nco post! (excluding the small which is aka fei nco posts of course)
on a side note i wonder when the "results" of the posting will be released...hmm scary scary

oh shit, i still have a phy cct tmr. didnt mug much sia, gg. also got ss presentation, after which hopefully all the dreadful stuff for this term is over.
oh no it isnt. sep hols got 2 screwy courses, police knowledge and homefront security. and dam they require full uniform to be worn, and its at HTA at CHOA CHU KANG wth. bad stuff nvr ends does it.

i knew it was...quite screwed at the end. im talking about my np interview, fyi.
had alot of things to say, but i just wasnt able to say it all out.
call it mental block, lag, whatever.
point is, i died.

it was dam crap, there were some qns where i knew what to say, but just didnt say it. dunno what happened. so dont ask me why, ty.
i dont think i'll be very surprised/shocked if i dont get it. i mean like, obviously i screwed up...dunnid talk already.
but i'll definitely be...quite sad la. sad that i didnt get, that i failed, etc etc. even so....life's still got to go on right? it wont wait for u. so im thinking, just forget about this bloody interview and focus on the tasks at hand. next week got some sickening ccts (spammage again wtf), and im already sick of them. oh eff, and theres like ss presentation and a chem redox OBA as well. seriously dam eff...

ya apologise if i happen to snap/appear irritated/scold some vulgar or what >< and the like. i just hate this feeling...
np gone, academic work gone. this sucks. whats next? nth positive im afraid.

today's training was not bad. ok very good in fact. took the sec2s ^^
something sian would be that, drills sessions was chao short. and...having too many cooks (us sec3s) kind of spoils the broth too...=X

oh did i mention that about 10ppl were at the interview? yea. didnt look very happy or what when they came out, mind =X
i should start worrying about my own inteview, in any case. mine's fri if u dont know yet, and uh, i think quite a few ppl actually know that im going for sec3 nco. yes no stupid things like accal or what when i dont even want it as first choice. it'll probably dampen my chances for the post i truly want anyway, lol.

ok here begins my cca spammage or something like that. if u have absolutely no interest in npcc or the related, u dont have to read on... =/

heres something to think about. why did so many people put accal/ccal anyway? is it truly that they want to commit/ have the passion to take up the task? this is quite doubtful though. so why do they put it in anyway? because of cca points? because its a slack job, everything pushed to the ccal to do? or just so that you can appear superior to everyone else? whatever the case, i think that all these reasons are plain stupid and lame. its really irresponsible for people who arent prepared/wont commit themselves to the post, to put it down as a choice (and first one at that). what if you really get it? are u sure u will do ur best in that post? if not why not just give it up, and aim for something more practical. this isnt some virtual world la. its reality man. so those people should have woken up. this may be abit late though, some of these ppl have already gone through their interview...=(

speaking of which, i cant bear to think what might happen if i dont get the nco post. mind, that was the only nco-related post which i put in, others were admin posts and the like. so if i dont get nco...its quite gg la, i'll be so damn sad...*sobs* ok but this is not trying to be sarcastic la ok? serious de.
ok you may ask, why take such a stupid post such as NCO? every training sure must come, and nco post has no cca points, does not look as pro as a head of dpt or something, etc etc.

let me tell you the answer. because to me, its worth it. simple? =)

coming for every trng is no big deal. i've done that for the past 3 years (including this year which is probably the most siao siao one), and i'm pretty dam sure i can do it again in sec4. in fact, training has become a sort of "habit", if you would call it, for me. so i see no reason i would want to pon it or whatnot!
cca points...there are other chances for cca points la, dont see why the whole world is staring at that SI rank. come on, its not THAT imba...ok maybe it is la, but doesnt matter to me. staff sergeant (assuming that i can get it, hopefully) is good enough...
doesnt look as pro? almost same reason as SI rank and such la. it doesnt matter really, what matters is i get to do what i want, AND like. only this way then u can maintain the passion/drive/motivation to carry on with it. =)
oh yes, even though i didnt say it, obviously i want to get into the np exco la. i mean, its all doing more on my part for npcc what. kind of obvious, yes?

today was jap project work. at first quite scared, cos sensei was saying want to change to thurs or something, think because some teacher wasnt free to come or what.
but luckily, didnt...

anyway for project work (this year's in any case), we had to advertise something of our own choice. my group did some imba medicine...called BUCKYBALL (rmb the chem test? tt spastic atom model?) XD yea ty i know its dam nice =)

erm...yesterday was cca day.

first half was update of upcoming events...nothing to talk about there.
uopa...we're getting owned like some dog. its no joke. liddat continue arh, even a bronze is possible. =(

then yuhui and leonard were doing some um motivational speech of sorts....yea you know those stuff right? dont need me to repeat.

so i've been thinking, how many of us have put in enough effort, to the best of our abilities, for the unit? i can say that i have not. of course, ponners such as *ahem* mark antony are alot worse, but that does not make me any better, comparing with well, noobs. despite attending every training and such, i really think i could have done alot more. in this case, instead of saying what i have done, i should ask myself what i have NOT done. reflective ma. =/

in any case, if i get the chance/ability to, this is what im going to do for the unit (as of what i know now):
1. take part in inter-area proj comp (if there is a vacancy, which i hope), and own the other areas =)
2. train up all squads (this will be easy enough...assuming i DO get nco post which i really want...=/)
3. annual training camp...shall try to help out as much as possible but shall not say exactly how yet. you all shall see... =) to say the truth, i've thought up alot of stuff/ideas on the camp already. hope it'll all be put into effect...

of course, the list is effectively endless. but for now, this will be my contribution.

the question remains: will others do the same? will future squads do the same? can our squad get them to do so?

only time will tell.
and if it does, we'll get back the uopa gold! =D

cross-country!

yup. today was the ri annual interhouse cross country championships. it was...quite ok.

at least unlike last year, the whole school didnt have to camp there throughout. was quite nice stoning in library till 3pm before zaoing. somemore got nice bus there =)

we were there for like not even 15mins then ram race le...didnt get a chance to drink water at all wth. btw the distance is 4.2km if you dont know/forgot. which is like 1.5times the normal 2.4km u do for napfa. holy...

i think this time i did quite well sia. most of the time was running near jaren and weemeng, ex-classmates. think quite good lor...they ncc de leh. must mean i run not bad =/

then reaching the end...ppl were shouting "1min left! gogogo" =.= i mean like, even if not, you'd still say that right? its all about psychological morale boosting. so actually i dont know whether i really ran like near 25mins or not =( hopefully yes ba =) better still if got under 25min, cos that means +pts for house =D

haha. then was prize presentation. wow, morrison U15 was owning the other houses badly. only other pro house was moor, but still paled in comparison =) ppl i can rmb from my house who won were daniel ng and jie xiong. good job!

then was dismissal...dam freaking shit de, no transport back. btw its at bedok reservoir park...and i live in well, kovan (arnd hougang there la). which is dam gg. took bus 59 hoping to go to bishan like the others...kao took 1hour just to reach toh payoh. yay luckily got one bus stop coincide with route of bus 153 which i can take straight to home =)))) yup, so got off and changed to 153. slept on the bus, cos too tired. leg pain u know, dunno how much lactic acid accumulated =/

ok but it was quite good la. this year's was definitely loads better than the last. which i am pleased to say. lets hope next year's one will be even better!
