Whiteout
This photo has not been altered in any way, shape or form. I don't know if it was the angle of the sun or a visiting alien spaceship that caused the picture to become this white. What I do know is that I love it. And if it was aliens they didn't take us up on their spaceship...perhaps next time.

One Art
The art of losing isn't hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster,
Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn't hard to master.
Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.
I lost my mother's watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three beloved houses went.
The art of losing isn't hard to master.
I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn't a disaster.
Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan't have lied. It's evident
the art of losing's not too hard to master
though it may look like (Write it!) a disaster.

It's 10 AM Somewhere
Are you ready to laugh? The other day I got up late. It's not like my alarm clock didn't go off (it did) nor did the subsequent snooze alarms fail to go off. I just didn't want to get out of bed. When I finally dragged myself out of bed I was running a good 10 minutes behind. Then on the way to work I hit every red light possible. Not to worry I thought, I will just sneak in and no one will know that I was late. That plan hit a snag when I pulled into the parking lot at the same time as my boss, so much for sneaking in. Now I know that some people would think, well your boss is late so it's okay that you're late. But in my mind that's not the way it works, I was caught red handed in the parking lot. Then as we are walking down the stairs of the parking garage; I think I am done with the stairs before the stairs have actually ended, which results in me falling the rest of the way down while trying to catch myself on the railing. If that was all that happened to me that day I could have let it all go, but no. Later that morning I decide I was hungry and hit up the vending machine for a healthy snack (a bag of chips that is a mix of Doritos, Cheetos, SunChips and pretzels). While I am eating this said bag of chips I mange to spill most of the bag all over myself. Good thing most of the chips are coated with cheese dust so everyone can see how talented I am! Which is really just the icing on top of an already great morning. And of course all of this happened before 10 AM so there was still plenty of day left. I think subconsciously this is why I wanted to stay in bed that morning. Nothing good happens before 10 AM.

Out and About
Hop in the car and come along for a ride around the Salt Lake Valley. Just don't touch the radio. Oh and make sure to drive on over to Jane's for more road trips.
In Downtown Salt Lake we see City Creek rising.
All roads (well at least those going East and West) lead to the mountains.
Now at the southern end of the valley we come across more construction.
Why, it's non other then the valley's first In N Out Burger.
I am a little excited for this store to open so I can get my Double Double fix.

Birthday Fair!
This weekend we (click here, here and here) celebrated Diana's Birthday, hit up the Utah State Fair, had some Chinese food and really just a good time all around. The proof is in the pictures.
A special thanks to Caity for orginazing the suprise party and planning the trip to the fair and for helping take some of these pictures and really for making the whole weekend!

September in Utah
First off I did not take this photo, lets give credit where credit is due. This picture was taken by Scott T. Smith and is part of the 2009 Utah Scenic Calendar (click the link to see how to order the 2010 Calendar). It also happens to be the calendar that overlooks my desk. Since I can't be outside for most of the day I might as well bring the outside in. Therefore this is September in Utah for me every weekday. This photo is of Mount Timpanogos, which is maybe a 15 minute drive from here. "The word Timpanogos comes from the Timpanogots Ute tribe who lived in the surrounding valleys from A.D. 1400. The name translates as rock (tumpi-), and water mouth or canyon (panogos)" per Wikipedia. You can learn more about Timp (as us locals call it) here. Since Timp is so close you would think I would have been able to go down and snap a few shots of my own, but that just didn't happen. I do have some pictues I took during a midnight hike during a full moon that were not taken in September but of August 2005, but I am sharing them anyway. I hope you enjoy. For more CornerView's see Jane.

Stairway to Brownies
This past Sunday was my friend Bonnie's Birthday. In celebration of said Bonnie's birthday we got together for dinner and mint brownies. Here is a taste of what transpired:

How I Spent 17 Hours
Okay I didn't spend it exactly like this. Instead of sand I had my head buried under pillows. Why? Because I had the worst migraine headache from Sunday night around 9 until Monday afternoon around 3. Oh yes, it was bad. Sounds played in my head like that of someone beating on a steel drum and light pierced right through my eyes to the back of my skull where it then bounced off and shot right back at my eyes. The worst part was that I can normally sleep off these kind of headaches but this one was a fighter. It took the soothing sounds of Planet Earth at a very low sound setting (to induce sleep), Excedrin, Tylenol, Coca-Cola, and tons of water to beat this headache. But I won in the end. Take that headache!
