KL New Skyline

IF you noticed lately, there has been some construction going around the KLCC area. The near completion Carigali Tower (find and dig?) is one of the building that topped the usual skyline of KL, making it the 3rd tallest building in Malaysia after the Petronas Twin Tower and the Telekom Tower

Located at Lot C of KLCC masterplan, this building consists of office space and also an extension to the existing Suria KLCC mall at the podium level.
 MENARA CARIGALI (PETRONAS TOWER 3) | Kuala Lumpur ( KLCC ) | 59F | 267m | U/C

There is also a Four Seasons Hotel to be built at the vacant lot between Maxis Tower and the old-looking Wisma Central, where the existing car park has been shut down for quite a while now. Once completed it will be the tallest Four Seasons Hotel in the world.
The initially planned two towers has been revised to a single tower (below)

The latest addition to the skyline will be the Landmark Tower designed by Buro Ole Scheeren, who designed the China's CCTV building in Beijing. As simple as it looks, the building compromises of a few different blocks stack on top of one another.

View from Jalan Ampang
I admire simplicity of the design which stands out among the buildings in context. This 65 storey building will accommodate hotel rooms, serviced apartments and retails. The sky pool will probably be the main feature of it and also a perfect spot for fireworks viewing during event celebrations.
Set for completion at 2016

Can't wait! =)

Taman Sri Pulai Perdana

MY site plan for this semester final project. There are three types of houses: The semi-detached houses (35' x 80') located on the top, the one and a half storey terrace (20' x 70') around the central green space and the double storey link house (22' x 70') for the rest.
And here is a perspective view of the proposed site. Anyone interested in buying a unit can drop me a comment. I will give a short tour to those who like to see the inside. Discount for friends and family. =p
I still have one and a half more day before submission. I need to start on my detailings and typical section soon. Go go go....!

Dulan

You know why?

Because yesterday I was supposed to go enjoy after my studio assessment and then to TGI Friday for dinner, until Mr Ng informed that there would be studio at night.

Damn it! And from 9 to 11pm, he was busy assessing works from other workbase with two other panels, making us waiting and doing nothing except crapping around at the corner of the exhibition room.

If I knew it would turned out to be like that, I would have at least gone for the Halloween dinner in TGI. Yee Wei even went online to search for costume for the Halloween event. All the plans spoiled because of some people.

Anyway yesterday’s morning assessment went pretty well. We had to present our work in brief which we thought we didn’t have to. The panel were supposed to be En Rajeh and Dr Remaz but Rajeh was sick therefore he was replaced by Dr Zin, and Dr Remaz arrived later, which means we had to present the same thing twice.

Since my camera wasn’t used for quite some time already, yesterday we took many shots before, during and after the assessment. Here:

Lastly, a jump shot! =)

Busy Week

YUP, it is the submission week for most of the my subjects. People from other course are probably enjoying their time at home since it is study week now but we are still struggling in the campus. The things to be done by these days:

Tuesday: Alice in Wonderland powerpoint slides
Wednesday: Jahangir's STAADPro report
Thursday: English negotiation
Friday: Studio final assesment

I was informed that the STAADPro assignment due date has been postponed to the 4th November. But I have to finish it ASAP anyway cuz there will be measured drawing model to be submitted on that day also.

No time to eat? Haha. Don't worry, there is always Maggi.
This is not an advertorial pic

ps: I'm thinking of heading to TGI Friday this coming Friday. The Halloween party looks pretty interesting. Nyek nyek nyek...

Two More Balloons

FINALLY I can have a nice rest after yesterday’s open crit session. Our lecturer invited Ar Normal to be the panel and the presentation was done in his office. I did not manage to show up the sections and conceptual sheet but the rest of the drawings are killing me already.

On Friday I watched the sky turned dark and on the following I watched it turning bright again. I didn’t sleep at all just like some of them. This course IS making us become like zombies.

Even becoming a zombie is better, cuz I don’t have to use autocad or photoshop.

Here are some photos taken in Ar. Normal's office:
That's Choon Wah doing a V
And me presenting my work
blablabla

As usual, many comments and feedbacks after the presentation. The panel said my art school looks like a shopping complex. Mr Ng added that the only thing left out is the balloons. -.-"
Trying to peek at our grades given but turned out blurry

The façade and one of the toilet space need to be reconsidered. With all that I’ve done, I just want to finish everything and faster let it come to an end. Seriously I do not have to mood to edit it again since holiday is coming. I can already hear to sleigh bell ringing. Haha.
Zombies

I've also been told that I spent too much time doing my perspective rendering instead of looking at books and magazines for ideas. Yea I know my design looks basic and simple but that is what I want. But at least my hard work for the perspective did pay off. =)
The first perspective I did
The exterior view

The final submission and assesement is going to be on next Tuesday. We still got one more detailing drawing to do. Worse, there are measured drawing, history of modern architecture, structure assignments all to be submitted on next week itself. How la am I going to celebrate this Thursday?

* ~*~*~*~*~*~*

Today noon I went out with Choon Wah as well as Karen and Yee Wei. We had a last minute plan to Danga City Mall since all of us have never been there before. As the mall is newly opened, the place is still empty not all the shops are opened. But one thing I like is the free parking! The car park barrier is there just that it is not in service yet. The only entertainment we saw there was bowling and archery. The rest was just normal. Many boutiques and hair saloons I can say.

We went to the upper floor to search for food. To our disappointment, the food there is quite limited and there is no other restaurant except for the food court. Therefore we headed to Pelangi area later on and went to the pan mee shop Tiong brought me last time. He knows many places in town and can be the food directory for JB already.

Other than pan mee, we also ordered salad you tiao (油条) and Thai style taufu. For so long never tried tasty food. I am getting sick of Tmn U's food.

After coming back to our hostel, Choon Wah and I watched 'The Spiderwick Chronicles' which I copied from Ryan few weeks ago. Quite an entertaining movie about fairytale and goblins. Again for so long I never watched movies in the cinema. The last one was The Dark Knight. You can imagine how long already.

Talk about movies, I wanna catch Eagle Eye, House of Bunny and Mamma Mia! Anyone accompany?

Mamma Mia~ Here I go again~
My my~ How can I resist you~

City Square Case Study

[This is a scheduled post]

IF you see this post, means I still can't get any place to online in China. I wrote and saved this as a draft few months back cuz I was lazy to upload the photos at that time. Anyhow I still feel like posting it up. So here it is - My Building Services II group assignment =)

I know, this is a reaal back-dated post!

YEAH.. Assessment is over! Portfolio is over! No more studio lesson! Two exams are over! Left one more paper to go on the 29th! However there is still one more assignment yet to submit, which is the building services II.

This assignment was given like months ago and it is supposed to be submitted Friday but we asked the lecturer to extend the due date. And he agreed us to submit on the coming Monday. So on yesterday, always being the late minute students, my group and some others went to look for a building to study for this assignment.

First we went to the M-Suites Hotel nearby Danga Bay, hoping we would get it started right away. Unfortunately the management staff couldn't approve our request as they were quite busy on that day. They said that they would call and inform us again in a few weeks' time. We didn't have much time for that.

Then we went around to look for another building and we came to Puteri Pacific Hotel. They told us the same thing. So we've made a decision not to choose hotels anymore. Tiong drove us around and finally we decided to head to City Square. After the study (if we did) maybe we could go for a movie or stuff like that. Hehe.

We went up to the management office on the 18th floor asked for the permission to do our study. The receptionist told us that the person-in-charge was not around but she said that we could contact her some time later. Well, at least there was a slight hope.

It is divided into three zones

While waiting for the management staff, we went to Starbucks for a drink. Tiong slept straight away at there.
Watchu looking?
Zzz..

A while later I called the staff again and she finally said that we could carry on with what we wanted to do WITH CONDITIONS that we do not enter the services rooms. Duh, that's the main purpose we went there and she told us that we couldn't access to those area?!!

Nevermind. We continued exploring the building on our own, snapping photos without permission, and sneaking to unauthorized area. Jean did some act at the fire escape staircase.
"I'm alive...!"
The Ringu
When there is fire, you jump down like that

I must say the roof top was the best place we ever went. There was a window cleaning hanger like the one we always see in the movie which able to move on a designated track along the building perimeter. Suddenly I felt like I'm in the movie Infernal Affairs (无间道).
The roof level plan
We are going up up up
Pipes and arrows
"Oops, someone is there"

At the same time there was a worker cleaning the water tank so we got the chance to ask him some few questions and we also took the chance to climb up the water tank. It was quite a fun experience.
The tank is 4meter high

We were curious about..
What's inside???
This is where all the water stored
Clockwise from right: Ning, Tiong, Beeli the hole.
There was actually another floor higher than roof top level but we couldn't go up there as the access was locked. Wasted.

After exploring the top, we moved down to the basement level trying to locate the Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) and the garbage disposal area. Walking around and finding those areas in the three storey basement carpark wasn't easy. There was no air-con and everywhere looked almost the same to us.
The carpark, obviously
I have never see this thing for a long already
It is a carlift

Some random photos of the day:
Escalator shot
Elevator shot
Gosh, Tiong is long
I'm lost

While we were at the roof top wandering around the mechanical rooms and the fire staircase access we saw something which was not suppose to be there!! Jeng Jeng....
