JUGS Ombre & Sketch Frenzy Friday

This week's JUGS challenge is to use the Ombre technique.  This is a new one to me so I hope I have understood it.  I used the sketch from 5th April over at Sketch Frenzy Friday as the basis for my card.

I started by creating a strip of variegated blue cardstock using my Gelatos (Birthday gift) and a little water plus a couple of fingers! I then die cut using MFT Die-namics Retro Squares.

The card base was embossed with a Fiskars plate (almost forgot I had those!)  and then it was assembled as shown.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and was stamped with Memento Elderberry Ink and die cut with a Spellbinders die.

When I showed my husband he said it looked like a row of swing bins or petrol pumps - great comment on my creativity!

FOSTV55 - Recycling

Hi Everyone - todays challenge over at Marks Finest Papers Friends of Speedy TV is a recycling challenge - look for Challenge 55 in the FOSTV category appearing soon.

Well I was surprised how easy this challenge turned out to be.  I started with a 2011 Christmas card that I had kept.  With that card and some cardboard from a cracker box, some ribbon from the crackers which ended up in my handbag on Christmas Day this is the collection I came up with.

The original card was a row of three trees and each tree was layered.  The three layered trees ended up on my 3 cards and the base card trees ended up on my 3 simple tags.

These 3 tags use silver card from the cracker box and ribbon from the crackers.  The sentiment is from the set called All is Calm.  The gems are new.

This card was brayered (onto a bit of the stamp packaging from a recent MFP set) and uses the tree stamp from Tree Greetings and snowflakes from the Winter Scenes set.  Glitter was added to clear tape.

This card uses some wrapping paper as the background (it was round my Cricut when I was given it as a leaving gift), a bauble shape I cut when playing with my Cricut which I ran through an embossing folder and sanded to show the core.  The ribbon is from the original card that I "attacked".

This last card uses the final tree, a star cut from the card that was in the embossing folder when I bought it, some ribbon that was also decorating my Cricut parcel and some new backing paper.  It also uses a recent Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch.

Don't forget to come back every day this week to see the new MFP sets and for your chance to win one set.  We are hopping Tuesday through Friday.

We would also love to see what you can do with our recycling challenge and you could win the lovely sunflower set called "Bring on the Sun".

Thanks for looking in today.

For those of you reading this blog in the USA - Happy Thanksgiving week.  This is my card for FOSTV47, a Thanksgiving card

Well it is your turn now to make one more Thanksgiving card - you might have to hand deliver it or save it for next year - but we would love to see your creation.  Please join in our challenge at FOSTV - it will go up as number 47..

If you pray please pray for Mum who has to have 4 teeth removed at the hospital today.

Thanks for dropping in.

Masculine - drag out some stamps!

I decided to use some of my unloved stamps again - when looking for a particular one the other day there were lots I had forgotten about.  This simple card using the Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch from September 28th utilises some stamps I had completely forgotten about - I don't even know who made them.  Masculine cards are not my favourite but my box needs some so this is what I created tonight.

Thank you for looking.

MFP September Stamps - 5th Set preview

Tomorrow is the start of Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrich Company's September Blog Hop!

Today I am showing you a card made with a set which is part of the September release but is not part of the hop.

The set is called Holly Jolly Greetings.  I used 14th September Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch for this card but used a Spellbinders shape rather than a basic rectangle.

Please pop back tomorrow to see more new goodies and for your chance to win some of the new sets.

SFF Inspired Rose

This card layout was inspired by this sketch over at Sketch Frenzy Friday. My butterflies replaces the top circle and my bow replaces the button - oh and my image is off centre!!!  The sketch was in my mind rather than on paper and you know what tricks the mind can play!

The image is from Darkroom Door and it is coloured with Copics.  Paper was from my stash so sorry no idea what company.  The die use was Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles.

Thanks for checking in - keep safe and dry.

Inchie and a Quarter Dogs - SFF040612

This card is made with the Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch from April 6th and uses a dog from a stamp set being released this week by MFP.  The dog bone are from my stash and have been added as another fun element like the drunken writing you get from celebrating too hard!

The dog heads were stamped in Memento black and coloured with Copics.  They were cut out with a Spellbinders die.
The edge of the dark red cardstockwas punched with a EK Success border punch.  The striped paper is from Papermania.

Please come back later this week and see all the new stamps.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Easter Card

This card was made using the Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch of just over 2 weeks ago - the link is to their blog as you may want to participate in current challenges..  I couldn't upload it and post it before as I didn't want hubby to see it as it was his Easter card.  The image is a digital one from Bugaboo stamps (Daughter Skye's pencil drawings) and is a lovely rabbit in my opinion.

Hope you are having a lovely Easter Sunday - God bless.

Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge Week 77 -Seeing Double

I have used SFF101411 with the Speedy Challenge to create a card with a repeated image.  I have used the seagull twice, the grass a few times and the flowers on the background many times too.  Now that it has turned chilly at night and in the morning I am dreaming of nice sandy beaches and balmy days!

OCC & SFF Snowman

A very quick post to get this card up before "I hit the pit"!   The image is one I love from Serendipity and I have used the OCC colours and the sketch from Sketch Frenzy Friday.  All very simple and straightforward.

Thank you to those who take the time and trouble to comment.

I'm so sorry - been a very Busy Bee

I know I will need this card one day soon as like many people I always have more to do than hours in a day so will forget something important.  Yes this is another card 'with Wings' and this time I have used MFP stamps with the lovely little bee from the Blackberries, Sunflowers and Bees set.  I was originally going to use this bee on some business type cards telling people about my blog (http://jaybee-brain-waves.blogspot.com ) but that is for another day.   The sketch is SFF092311 from Sketch Frenzy Friday.
