We have all heard the saying, April showers bring May flowers.
I always look forward to a bit of rain to help give our thirsty Spring lawns and flowers a drink.
Of course, an umbrella is a handy thing to have on hand.
My sister, Julie and a friend, Dolly were visiting for a few days last weekend. What a fun time we had! Dolly had a pic from pinterest of a decorated umbrella. Wish I knew who had posted it and I would give them credit. It was such a fun and easy project. I will hang it on my front door. Here it is hanging on the pantry while I worked on it.
Hubby was worried that it was going to stay there and he would have to fight it every time he went in for a cookie or a treat. lol!
I purchased the umbrella at Hobby Lobby.
We were not lucky enough to have real blue eggs, so we cracked some white ones and then dyed them with left over Rit dye from another project. The eggs in the nest are Styrofoam that we dyed also.
We stuffed a couple of tissue papers in each pleat. Filled with moss, faux Sweet Peas, Tulips and a Pussy Willow branch it makes a sweet Spring welcome.
I'll keep my umbrella handy and anxiously await the May blooms.
Hugs,
Jann

Jann! This is just too cute! What a sweet umbrella! It reminds me of a real nest that a pretty little bird built in my friends front door wreath one year! She had to leave the unseasonable wreath up and use the back door to not disturb the momma bird! You did a pretty job!
Blessings,
Susie
What a fun idea for an Easter decoration.
I love the your umbrella interpretation....it's just beautiful. I think it was originally from BHG (http://www.bhg.com/holidays/easter/decorating/quick-and-easy-easter-decorations/#page=10). I just did an "easter ideas" post on my Quilternity's Place blog. Anyway, I want to thank you for your lovely comment on my Fifty for Four blog and for becoming a new follower. Take care.
Jann- I saw this somewhere else, too, and saved it. I have an old umbrella and hope to do this after Easter. What a sweet post today- xo Diana
I have seen this before , but I like your version much better!
Blessings, Joanne
That is just adorable. I love having family and friends visiting.
What a fabulous idea. So cute :)
Hi, Jann. It's so strange...I recently thought of doing just what you did, but I'd never seen it done, so yours, with the solution of stuffing it with paper is perfect timing while it's on my mind. Yours turned out great! ~Zuni
It looks so lovely and just a wonderful invitation to Spring. You did an excellent job!
What a way to repurpose the umbrella. I love it!

Oh, girl, you got me hankering for spring. We don't have the season here in the Philippines.
My favorite part of your ADORE.able door deco is the cracked egg, dyed. Whodathunkit? LOVE the creativity.
And the green? PERFECTION! {fav' color... as if you didn't know!}
