Unmasking Catrina with Milagros

Hi Bloom Fans, Milagros here as your host today!
There's still a few more months for the day of the death so I decided to reveal the beauty of the lady behind the mask.  The roses in her hair are divine.  I recall when seeing her for the first time noticing she was wearing a headdress we know as "mantilla", a custom we inherited from Spain. I also remembered my Grandma, she used to go to mass with a "mantilla" on her head every time.  She even looks like a bride, you'll see it in my process.  It was what I wore on my head the day I got married. So many memories Ms. Catrina brings to me!
So you don't lose perspective here's the original stamp

As you can see she's all there! Those beautiful roses get me every time!
Here's some of my process, I stamped her omitting the mask, her beautiful face is there, the only thing missing are the eyebrows, that you can easily draw as one big comma.  I had fun drawing her with sun glasses using her mask around the eyes.  Will share later!
I wanted to place her in an old room, something forgotten by time, using the floral texture , from Prima's Floral Bouquet stencil as a peeled wallpaper, I also needed some white crackle for that old world feeling
I used a very heavy coat trying to be careful around her gorgeous features
Although I will use my fave Prima watercolors for her features I couldn't resist mixing it up a bit and using acrylic paint on her.  You will see I used it on her roses, lips and her hair

Then I used the Prima watercolor pencils for her skin tones, (soft neutrals and spring and fall tins) are the ones I used

Inspired by a paper napkin I went with some turquoise to match her pink roses

and voila after some metal and hammer she's done!
I am hoping you feel inspired to transform some of your stamps
Have you used them in a different way, do share it with us on our Face Book page or leave me a note here for me to visit you!
Until my next transformation!

Hi everyone :) I have created an unique necklace and jewelry board. I had the pleasure of using Ice Resin, Walnut Hollow, and Rolex product to create my pieces. Here is a how to of how I create this fun gift.

Now remember you can change up the colors to fit your style.

First I took Ice Resin's Molding Putty and one of my daughter's resin horses and made a mold of the horse. I then poured the mold with Ice Resin. I also cut shapes out of a couple of sheets of Rowlux and layered them with Resin also. This gave them a nice gloss finish and give them an extra layer of strength.  While those cured I moved onto my jewelry board.

I had created a mold from a $1 store frame and poured it with resin. The fun part about the molding putty is you can use any found object to create a mold out of. While the frame cured I took black chalkboard paint and painted the face of my Walnut Hollow wood plank. I let that dry.

I wanted to add a splash of red to our board so i traced out on the board where I would like to place the frame. Then I also traced an insert onto a piece of Rowlux and cut it out. I adhered the Rowlux onto the board.

I used liquid Gold leaf paint and painted the edge of my board as well as my resin frame. I then adhered my resin frame to the board. Using self tapping eyelet's I screwed them into the face of my jewelry board.

To put my necklace together. I took a large bezel that I resined my Horse head onto (The red background is a piece of red Rowlux). I then used jump rings to attach my Rowlux embellishments to the bottom of the Bezel. The smaller bezel is resined with Rowlux confetti and Iced Enamels.

Here is my finished result. A fun gift for that Romantic in your life.
Happy Creating...

Supplies Used: Ice Resin, Iced Enamels, Ice Resin Molding Putty, Ice Resin Romantique Bezels, Rowlux film, Walnut Hollow Wood plank, black chalkboard paint, gold liquid leaf, Gold eyelets, misc jewelry findings and chain.

New Tattered Angels :)

Happy Monday everyone! I know Monday and happy really don't belong together, but maybe we can't make it a trend or something. LOL

I wanted to share a few projects with you that I did for Tattered Angels this month.

First is this fun little wood box by Walnut Hollow I first painted Glimmer Glam on the box and then sprayed it with Chalkboard Mist. FOR COLORS AND PAINTS USED CHECK OUT THE TATTERED ANGELS BLOG FOR INFO AND LINKS TO THE PRODUCT :)

I used Prima's Mist.A.Bles canvas and cut out the flower shapes. I then folded them in half and layered them on top of each other. I took the three smaller flowers and over lapped them by thirds. and glued them together. I then took the three larger flowers and did the same. I then adhered them with Beacon adhesives together.

I made this LO using Prima canvas sheet and embellishments. Look at how the silkscreened image stands out against the Glimmer Mist! And how deep and colorful the custom colored flowers are.

Hope this gives you a couple of new ideas on using your mists and paints. :)

Also I wanted to share that I am having a Giveaway on my book blog!!! :) So if you would like check it out.

Hugs
Jamie D.
