Maintaining your mobile phone

Looking after your mobile helps to ensure it has a long and productive life. There are 8 easy maintenance tips to help you get the best out of your mobile phone. All of the points below should also apply to your battery, charger and any other accessories.

KEEP YOUR MOBILE:

Charged: Ensure your battery is fully charged, and then completely run it down before recharging. Recharging too early causes your battery to run out of power more quickly.

Secure: For security reasons, enable the PIN on your SIM Card and Phone-lock on your phone to avoid unauthorized used. These security checks will also be activated when the phone is power cycled. You can check with your carrier or the phone manual for the features and also for information on blocking your SIM card and phone IMEI number if the phone is stolen. For more information please see the Security Tips located on the AMTA Lost and Stolen website.

Protected: Make sure you use a keypad lock to lock your phone. Unplanned calls can cost a fortune and even though your phone may be in a safe place, such as in a bag, your phone will still get knocked around to a surprising degree. Rough treatment can damage electronic circuit boards so avoid dropping or unnecessarily shaking your phone.

Battery: Be safe with your batteries. Use only genuine batteries from your phone manufacturer and only buy from authorized dealers. Going for the cheap option of a counterfeit battery can be dangerous.
Clean: Don't use harsh detergents, cleaning solvents or harsh chemicals to clean your phone. Wipe only with a soft cloth.

Covered: a protective cover will help repel dust and dirt, and prevent scratches. Make sure the cover you choose is of good quality. Low quality covers with no air pockets can damage you phone by creating humidity inside the cover.

Storing your phone: Always store your phone in a dry place. Avoid rain, high humidity and liquids. All of these may contain minerals that could corrode the electronic circuits.

At the right temperature: To ensure a long life, keep your phone in a stable temperature. Avoid exposing your phone to liquid and/or exposing your phone to extreme temperature change from hot to cold and vice versa. This might create condensation and damage the phone.

Broadband speed in Mobiles

SPRINT AND Clearwire have agreed to form a joint venture that will deliver wired broadband speeds to mobile users, perhaps by late 2008. The companies had charted separate paths to roll out mobile WiMax, a form of mobile broadband previously deployed in scattered places around the world. Widespread deployment of WiMax is about two years behind early predictions. Sprint and Clearwire’s WiMax rollout will likely offer speeds well above 5 mbps.
Pricing isn’t set.WiMax adapters should proliferate by 2009. Intel has backed WiMax since deciding in 2004 that existing cellular 3G plans could not meet its needs. Intel will build Centrino chips that have WiMax and Wi-Fi capability built in. Companies such as Motorola, Samsung, and Zyxel are committed to building fixed receivers for residences and businesses, as well as laptop and desktop adapters like PC Cards and ExpressCards. Ben Wolf  , the CEO of the new service, estimates that Clearwire will be available to 120 to 140 million people by 2010. By then AT&T and Verizon should be rolling out LTE (Long Term Evolution), their 4G flavor, which will offer comparable speeds.

Instinct - will it compete with Apple's iPhone??

So, with nearly a year after the launch of Apple's iPhone, Samsung and Sprint have decided to deliver a competition, the Instinct. The Instinct is bigger in size when compared with iPhone both in height and thickness and uses a resistive display ( iPhone uses capacitive display ). The Instinct provides much more options than iPhone such as mobile broadband, GPS, support for third party applications such as java etc. These may sound interesting but we can only judge how far the Instinct outwits the iPhone only after its launch. So, lets wait for the Instinct.

Five Hottest Cellphones

I got a chance to find an article on the five hottest cellphones and thought of sharing it on my blog. so, here is the list of the hottest cellphones. The details about the phones are from my web search and i am not responsible if any of the feature is false or outdated. Jus wanna share my knowledge with others.

MUSIC PORTER X

The MUSIC PORTER X from Mitsubishi for NTT DoCoMo FOMA features a 1GB in-built memory that allows up to 700 tunes to be stored on the phone. This is the 28th Symbian OS-based mobile phone shipped in Japan.

The music experienced is enhanced by the addition of an FM radio as well the Mobile Broad Casting Service (MobaHO!) which is the satellite digital multimedia broadcasting service for personal and mobile device use. This service allows users to listen to the latest music in Japan and other countries. Users can also adjust the treble settings of the music and can identify their favourites for easy play.

The MUSIC PORTER X supports a wide variety of music formats such as MP3, AAC, ATRAC 3 and ATRAC 3plus and software is bundled to help users load their existing music collection onto their phones.

A visual display allows users to view and manage their music as they are playing it.

The phone also offers a camera and access to the i-channel services.

VECTROTEL X8

If your one of those conspiracy theories nuts who believe that the government is listening and recording to your conversation (no matter how mundane the stuff is) then you will love the Vectrotel X8, a GSM cell phone which has been manufactured by a Swiss company called Vectrotel. This phone is able to encrypt your conversations thanks to an unbreakable cypher.

Its not as simple as it sounds. For starters you require two cell phones and for placing a secure call the company performs a 1024-bit Diffie-Hellman shared secret exchange to produce a 128-bit key which only the two phones know and share. According to the company this key cannot be deciphered and you would require 1019 years to decrypt the message when there are 1000 computers at work. For enhanced security the company displays a calculated HASH checksum too.

The X8 in spite of its ultra cool features looks just like an regular mobile phone and includes a 1.3 megapixel camera. It also has features like a high-resolution display, connectivity options like IR, Bluetooth and USB , 5 hours of regular talk time and 4 hours of encrypted talk time.

SAMSUNG P900

Samsung P900 is a feature packed hanset that comes with 2 megapixel camera, 2.2″ 240×320 262K Color display, video recording and messaging capabilities and Mp3 player.

However the most exciting feature of this mobile phone is a built in Digital Media Broadcast receiver that lets you watch live TV programs. 2.2″ QVGA screen is able to display pictures at 30 frames per second making TV images clear and flicker-free. The screen also rotates to horizontal position for more optimal viewing.

Samsung P900 comes with Electronic Program Guide for easy

navigation through different TV channels. With 128MB of internal memory and optional microSD memory card you can record favorite shows for later viewing, transforming this cellphone into mini DVR in your pocket.

NEC N908

NEC have announced the NEC N908, a new mobile that's the same size as a credit card. Not the same width, mind - at 12.8mm thick, it's nearly twice the width of Samsung's record-breaking super-thin phone th Samsung X828. But as you can see from the pics, the N908 has the same length and height as a credit card - it'll just look a bit odd in your wallet!

Well, despite being tiny,
NEC have managed to squeeze in the gubbins necessary to drive a touchscreen, letting you access all the phone's features without having to add ot the phone's tiny size. And, being a mobile phone, they've also squeezed in an MP3 player, 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth and USB connection as well.

NEC N902IS

What sets the N902iS apart from other camera phones is its integrated search engine feature, users can take pictures and have them automatically uploaded to a Japanese search engine called "Evolution Robotics", for sharing or later retrieval. This handset includes an external 4.0-megapixel camera, internal 0.3-megapixel camera, 2.5-inch QVGA+ display, and a miniSD card slot. It measures 104 x 51 x 23mm and weighs approx. 114g.

Check this site before you buy anything!!!

One day my friend came marching towards our gang and proudly showed us his new NOKIA mobile which he had bought the other day. On seeing the mobile, one of our gang's techie boy gave a negative feedback on the model and on hearing it the proud guy's face was full of BULBS. He started to worry like anything that his mobile is not worth of its cost. We felt really bad for him and I, having a plan to buy a new mobile phone for over 2 years wanted to check out which mobile is worth for its money. But where will go to learn about the features, cost etc etc of such gadgets. Obviously , I can go to a mobile shop and learn them but after all those nerdy questions to the shopkeeper if i return without buying even a crystal cover, then you people know how badly a chennaite shopkeeper can damage your family. So I never wanted to take such a risk and i was back at my keyboard searching for answers to which mobile model to buy.
I got an opportunity to explore a site called TestFreaks! The developer has built it based on the basic quest of consumers to get advices and neutral reviews of products they are planning to purchase. As an electronic freak myself, whenever I buy something like mobile phones or whatsoever, I prefer asking people on their reviews and ideas in finding the perfect one. We always look for the best possible information about the product we are going to buy and so is this site.
TestFreaks aggregate all possible information about a particular product like manufacturer description, specifications, expert and user reviews, ratings and including deals on the rates. Every other site like CNET, Amazon has this kind of features but there’s something special about this site too. The limitation of information is not just ended up to user reviews and ratings, but TestFreaks have extended it to forum discussion too. Other good thing about this site is its video review for each and every product. Every time when we see a product in advertisement or in a poster it resembles different from real so in that case video review of each product would help a buyer understand the product.
Every product is valued by giving a FREAK Grades. Freak grades are determined based on performance, ease of use, quality, design, features, value for money and scores given from experts and users. So the monopoly of product rating can be avoided and users get the real best reviews about each product.
Another highlighting feature of this site is its BUZZ index which would probably show the buzz about a particular product among the users. Usually buzz index are zero for new arrivals and based upon certain manipulations and results the buzz index of a particular product increases.
And about my new mobile, all those models doesn't suit my budget and so i stick on with my old mobile. [ Wish our finance minister P.Chidambaram passes a special bill this march to cut off mobile prices or else irukavey iruku SARAVANA STORES :) ]
