GREEN TO WHITE...

After the snow being gone for a week now we were starting to think that just maybe spring is on its way until we woke up this morning to a blanket of white snow on the ground. I had to take my hubby to work early this morning and since he was running late (nothing new) I was kind enough to start the van and clear the snow off it. We aren't expected to get much more snow but I wasn't taking the chance of it stopping anytime soon so I shoveled the driveway to make it easier for later and will have to venture out again in an hour to pick up Jay from the church sleep over. I am prepared for a cranky day....

ENJOYING THE SNOW

With the snow we have been getting lately we are enjoying our time at the hills sliding. We spent a couple of hours at the golf course hills sliding and had a great time. It is so nice to see the kids getting out and enjoying the winter weather instead of being in the house all the time. To injuries to report but I tell you I have a 5 year old dare devil on my hands. No fear at all...I will be looking into getting him a helmet before he goes sliding again just to be on the safe side. With the snowstorm we had last night it should make sliding that much better with the fresh snow on the ground. We won't be taking the kids sliding this weekend because I will be trying my luck on the ski hills. EEEEKS!

Impending Storm

We have been awaiting the start of the "worst storm of the year" for our area to start all day.
It was supposed to begin this morning but it is getting on to mid afternoon and we are just starting to see a little bit of a flurry out there. This is our first winter here as we moved in the summer and we are used to big snow storms but so far we have really only seen a couple of snows and usually everything turns to rain in the end. We will see what comes from today, the kids are doing the snow dance hoping for a snow day tommorrow and an extended weekend off school. Good Luck Kids...

FINDING SNOWBOARD GEAR

I hope we get some snow in the next couple of weeks to help the condition of the ski hills. Next week I will be going skiing with my son Jay and the Church Youth Group. This could be interesting considering I haven't been skiing since I was in Junior High and Jay has never been skiing before. He is considering trying snowboarding rather than the skiing, so I am hoping that if he really likes it then we will get out on a regular basis to do some skiing and snowbarding during the winter months.

During the next few days I will take Jay out to look for snowbards and other accessories he will be needing for the trip. Where to start? There are so many brand names to choose from but I have been told to look into Burton snowboards at least I have somewhere to start. I'm not sure what I will be needing all together so I am hoping I will find some good help and great savings to make things easier on me and my budget. Wish me luck and if the weather permits I will be on the slopes next weekend!

***MORE SNOW...

More snow on the way...
Again tonight we are getting more snow. No I don't think that tomorrow will be a snow day for the kids but never the less what we are getting is making it messy outside. Today was bitter cold and the waves off the water this afternoon and into this evening were something to see. I have never seen waves that high before in my life...I guess it's something I will get use to the longer I live here! So I have the heat turned up in case of a power outage with the strong winds and will settle in my warm cozy bed to watch some tv before going to sleep. It is suppose to snow all night so we will see what we wake up to in the morning!

***NOT MUCH SNOW AND....

...The kids are off to school today. No snow day for them but I think they were just has happy to off to school to see their friends. I am so lucky to have children who enjoy and look forward to going to school. It makes my morning that much easier. There wasn't a whole lot of snow that fell overnight and the driveway clean up didn't take long to do. We are expecting warming temperatures today along with some rain so I couldn't promise the kids that the snow will be here when they come home later on this afternoon. They can't wait to go sliding!

SNOW STORM...

We had our first snow storm last night and it was miserable outside, the visibility was really bad...as you can see from the picture we couldn't see anything past our back yard. It's hard to believe that as bad as the weather was...when we woke up this morning there didn't seem to be any more snow than we had yesterday before the snow storm...the kids still had fun playing outside today but were a little disappointed with still being able to see the grass.
