Port Bruce, for the Birds.

Stay for the BLTs.

The Yamaha is not warming up while I speak.

Tomorrow, maybe.

A few extra photos from August:

I often travel to Port Bruce for the breeze, birds, beaches, bikes, etc., and usually stay for a BLT at The Corner View Cafe. A+.

Birds, Pt. Bruce and Berries 3.

I spotted sailboats on calm waters yesterday soon after rounding the bend in the beach road. I parked my bike, walked to the pier and watched sailors bring one home.

Faint clouds on the horizon and soft tones in the water served as nature's palette.

More photos from along the way on Sunday:

Welcome to Port Bruce, south of Aylmer.

Gulls rest while swallows dart here and there.

 Elderberries not ready for pies.

Mud nests may soon hold a second brood of young swallows.

Hop plants are in flower, south of Mount Salem.

Back to the Beach.

Cold Day in April.

A gyroscope inside my head is calibrated to guide me toward the north shore of Lake Erie via Belmont, Sparta and Old Dexter Line. Proof is in my photo file.

The sun came out in mid-April, along with my motorcycle, after a long winter. The Yamaha was warmed up by noon, but the wind off Erie hit my face like a cold brick.

 Later in the year.

Back to the cold April day.

My chin froze on the way home. Spring haircut, no beard.

Last week I wandered around Port Bruce in T-shirt and light jeans, and was happy for the sun and warmth.

Black Cherry ice cream is on the menu at The Corner View Cafe.

More T-shirt trips to follow.

Motorcycle Miles - Sweaburg Road, Oct. 19 (1).

Oceans of Corn.

Looking east on Sweaburg Road, SE of Ingersoll.

I did not stop often yesterday on my way to Norwich. Had to be home by three. I passed through Dorchester, Ingersoll, Foldens Corners (old baseball field looked familiar), Sweaburg, Burgessville on the way, but only took short glances at passing scenery. I was hungry, so stopped for poutine at The Village Restaurant in my hometown.

Postcards from the side of the road:

I will go again - more back roads to explore - when I am not so rushed.

Motorcycle Miles - September 25, 2016

Port Bruce, and Why Not?

I can be accused of being a one-trick pony. I often warm up my bike on days when temperatures are ten degrees or better and usually head to Port Bruce, a small but bustling village on the north shore of Lake Erie.

Easy highway riding, scenery along the way that speaks of changing seasons and nature's handiwork, a welcoming atmosphere at Port Bruce's hub. Who wouldn't enjoy that routine.

Then there's good coffee and a great BLT - for $4.95 - at the Corner View restaurant. Just tell me you can make one that's better.

Motorcycle Miles - Port Bruce, August 27 (2)

From the Go Pro Camera

Simple collection:

Colour shots from west to east

Black and white shots from east to west

The GoPro does not zoom. One must take a high rez shot, then crop an area of interest while editting in order to see more details.

Port Bruce from one mile away looks pretty cool without the zoom, in my opinion.

Time Will Tell

"10:30 AM: Natural scenes change significantly over the course of the day"

I packed a couple of cameras when taking a recent trip to Lindsay because I was visiting a riverside cottage. Lots of sun during the morning and afternoon and interesting sunsets in the evening allowed me to enjoy swimming and picture-taking opportunities.

Next time I go I hope the weather is as nice so I can travel back roads by motorcycle.
