Couch-surfing Video, Part 2

A few items today. First, I finally wrote a bio for the About Us page, so if you get bored enough, check it out and let me know what you think.

Next, Part 2 of my couch-surfing story from The Porch a couple of weeks ago is now available on Youtube (see below). This show went really well and it was incredibly fun to meet so many of you. Hopefully we can do some more of these in the future in some other places. In the meantime, thanks for watching, and reading, and commenting, and helping life stay strange.

Finally, one of our strangers, Jessica, emailed me a quote this weekend that I thought I would share with everyone else.

"Our 5 senses are not enough in our daily lives. We need to use our sixth sense: our 'sense of humor.' Humor isn't about merely telling jokes; it's the way we view the world. We can take our goals and responsibilities seriously, but take ourselves lightly." -G.K. Chesterton

Here's to developing that 6th sense so we can actually enjoy the other 5. (Sorry if "6th sense" just gave you the heebie jeebies).

  1. bahaha i had chinchillas for years. They are a mix between kangaroo's and small rodents. They are amazing.

  2. I love a good story/adventure which is why I've wanted to couch surf abroad. It's also the reason I've gone on some of the dates I've been on...(no judgment...)

As for the "About Me[You]", at least your middle part phase is in the past...sometimes my hair finds its way to the middle part and I don't always find out until late in the afternoon. I just don't look enough (or at all) like Jennifer Aniston to pull it off.

    1. I highly recommend the couchsurfing, but please be safe about it. There are a lot of things you can do to avoid some of the most obvious risky situations.

And I too am grateful that my middle part is in the past because I also don't look like Jennifer Aniston.

    2. Don't be so quick to assume you don't look like Jenny...I do notice a few subtle similarities. You both have 2 eyes, a pulse, and enjoy homemade ice cream sandwiches. (The last one is just assumed because I can see it in both y'alls faces...) It's uncanny, really. Maybe you should try the middle part again, you might surprise yourself.

    2. Ok, but I'm going to have to edit out all of the crying.

  4. Please, never stop doing what you do. For the sake of my sixth sense. And my sense of humor, too.

    1. I hope what I do somehow helps you cope with your sixth sense. But I suggest you try talking to them--find out what they want. I hear this has done wonders for some people.

    1. Cool. What are you doing Friday? I'm free pretty much all day, except I have to wash the cats at some point.

    2. Friday I'll be chaining myself to a tree to protest against postmodernism. How about Saturday?

    3. Shoot. Saturday I have an all day clogging competition. And you know how they get when you try to slip out for a minute.

    4. Darn. I certainly wouldn't want you to have to lose your clogging dreams like I did when Sally Jones revealed that I was using my prosthetic leg to cheat.

Well, I'll just keep an eye out for you at the public library a week from next Saturday. I presume you'll be at the Chapman branch in the afternoon?

  6. I applaud your couch surfing bravery. I can't even bring myself to stay at my sisters, and she's in Boise.

SLCs winter hasn't been all that bad this year. It's been crazy, crazy in a "I wish Jack Frost was a real person so I could punch him in the face" type of way.

I can't tell you how many snowmen have died in my front yard! They were all so young..

    1. In a perfect world, those snowmen would never have had the ability to form in the first place.

    2. Not a lover of the snowman, I see. Hmm...You don't by any chance steal top hats from children, in bizzarely more elaborate schemes, do you?

  7. "I have pictures climbing"...no, really. ;) Hilarious Eli, thanks for the smile today! ;)
