Sleeping With Serhei Video

I just spent the weekend trying to swim in an icy body of water. You may have heard my screams if you were in any of the following states at the time: Utah, Colorado, Arizona, California, Nevada, Idaho, New Mexico, Being. Story to come--if ever I recover.

In the meantime, please enjoy the first five minutes of the story I told last week on The Porch about couchsurfing with Serhei. I will be sending this video in as part of a humor competition I'm currently competing in. Your hits on the video will make me look super popular to the judges and will thus be greatly appreciated (I will reward you in hugs and Facebook pokes (do those still exist?)).

  1. That's good! I'd love to hear the rest of the story. (PS If you're couch-surfing profiles to choose people to meet online--why would you go visit a guy? Just to test out the online-killer theory?)

    1. Our pickings were a little bit slim in some cities. So we took some leaps of faith.

  2. Is there any way you'd post the rest of the video? I'd love to hear it again! Very funny, well done.

    1. I think the plan is to have The Porch post the full video on their site. Hopefully that will happen soon. Otherwise, we'll probably stick the rest on Youtube. In any event, we should have the full 15 minute video available at some point.

    1. Yes, and awkward isn't always a bad thing, anyway.

    1. Thanks! And I'll try to keep it down next time I get into cold water.

  8. This was so much fun! I was sitting just slightly to the right of that camera and I'm glad that you can't see or hear me, as was my agreement with your friend doing the recording.

    1. You should have inserted some heckling if you were that close.

  9. I loved this! You're hilarious! I was sorry to see that the Queen of Colors wasn't in attendance. I lent her a snuggie and a tube of toothpaste last time I saw her, against my better judgement, and I'd at least like the snuggie back.

    1. I wish you had talked to me before you did that! NEVER lend the Q of C ANYTHING! I've totally given up on ever getting back my collection of slap bracelets.

    2. I wish I had talked to you before this, too! She just really seemed to have a need for them. I'm sorry to say that I'm pretty sure I saw her pawning your slap bracelets off to small children, along with bottlecaps the size of your palm. All I know is nothing good can come from this.

  10. This is great. And your previous podcast about your hospital adventure is now my favorite thing to listen to on my iPod. People on the subway keep giving me looks whenever I start cracking up. Worth it.

  11. You are such a liar- I have jumped into cold, freezing, horribly frigid water and my lungs FROZE! I was lucky to get to the edge where I was able to drag my blue body from the danger. Explain yourself, Eli. (I also live in Ca and heard only the secret scream my head creates lately as my 15 1/2-year-old learns to drive while I am the only adult over 25 willing to get into the car with her. You're welcome, America.)

    1. Explanation shortly on the way. And there will be no exaggeration in it.

  12. That sounds so freaking weird it has to be true!

You have excellent timing and the flow of the story was well-paced.

Good luck and I look forward to hearing the rest (like so many others).

    1. Thanks! And when Matt heard the story he, knowing my sometimes-exaggeration-problems, commented how surprised he was that I didn't exaggerate this story at all. I didn't have to.
