Sympathy

*********

For a neighbour who lives a few doors away.  Her hubby hadn't been well for many years so news of his passing was not unexpected.....still sad though, I got on well with him.

Supplies
Radiant Rectangles die cut frame
Sentiment stamped and cut with Curved Rectangle nestie
CB 'dotty' EF
Spellbinders EF
Black net
Handmade ribbon flower
Handmade stick pin

When in doubt as what to use as a backing very often I opt for the CB 'dotty' embossing folder. So easy to join to make a larger mat and neat too.

Parchment Lilies

****************

My very poor attempt with parchment. I really must try and get some tuition. There are some excellent online craft tutorials for lots of techniques, but I definitely need a hands on workshop for this parchment craft lark, lol.
I only have the minimum basic tools so that doesn't help, but if/when I improve I'll invest in some more.
The pattern I used was quite small so I had the brilliant idea of scanning it and enlarged it to A5 in my graphics programme - well, I'm pleased that worked :-)
I hope my friend doesn't look too closely to see what a bad job I made of this. I am not happy with it but gave it to her anyway 'cos it took ages and I was doing it especially for her.
The corner looked bare so I added a double organza bow and some stick on pearls to the flourishes.

Challenge
The Corrosive Challenge #136 - use a flourish
Dream Valley #19 - anything goes - 3rd entry
Papertake Weekly - anything goes

This one was less stressful.

And another similar to the one in a previous post

Thank you for stopping by.
Cheers me dears

Sympathy

*********

Sadly one of many I have to make this week.

Our 36yr old nephew died on Saturday and our friend's son who is also our DD's close friend's husband died on Monday. Two young men in two days :-(

When I have to make one of these sad cards I often use this digi from Pink Petticoat - I love it's simplicity.

The bakers twine is from my gorgeous winnings from the Pretty Little Ribbon Shop, for winning a Charisma Cardz  Challenge back in Sept. Not only beautiful ribbons but some buttons and heart pins too - just yummy - thank you so much.

Getting out the stash and making cards can be so therapeutic when you're feeling sad.

 Challenges
Charisma Cardz #43 - anything goes
Paper Crafting Journey #22 - use a digi

Sentimental Sundays #71 - sympathy/thinking of you

This is my last post before going on holiday in the early hours of Wednesday.
I am hoping to schedule another post for next week. We shall see :-)

Sadly I've had to make two sympathy cards for neighbours  this afternoon .
They are both very simple and and similar in design.

Sympathy card

A5

We heard the sad news that a friend of hubby's died at the weekend.

I have used the free Magnolia decoupage that Jak kindly posted on her excellent blog back in February.

The backing paper comes with the image so all I had to do was put it all together.

I had made a little black and crystal 'stick pin' which I have added as a finishing touch

Thank you for visiting and I will be happy to receive any comments you care to leave.

Another sympathy card! & Creative card Crew challenge 2

This is for my cousins. Their Mum, my Dads sister-in-law, died on Sunday.
I don't know what made me do a monochromatic card and now I've finished it I'm not sure about it. I like it, but maybe not as a sympathy card.

I realised that it fits the Creative Card Crew challenge 2 which this week is not to use designer paper.

The flower made from circle nesties and reverse sides embossed with Swirls and Birds? CB folder. Everything is inked with versacolor umber.

Thank you for calling in. Please feel free to leave a comment, I really enjoy reading them and they are all very welcome and appreciated :-)

Sympathy card

A5

Now that I have finished this I am not sure about it being suitable for a sympathy card.
It is not the style I usually do for this sort of card but I liked the image of the lady. She has such a serene look about her.

I used the sketch for this weeks Sketch and Stash challenge to give me some inspiration.
I am afraid the only 'stash' I've used is the lilies that I've had languishing for ages.
I apologise for the poor pic. Somehow managed to get a 'flash' on the image :-(

Thank you for popping by and for any comments you care to leave.

Sympathy

Side opening A5

My son and DIL asked me to make a card for their friend who tragically lost his wife at the weekend.
I love lilies, on cards and for real, but think the white tulips perhaps more suitable for a younger person.

Now I've finished it I think the sentiment is too clumsy but I so wanted to use my new nestie labels. The image is matted with silver mirri and the larger label cut from it also. I hope it will be accepted as it is.

Thank you for looking. Your comments always are so welcome.

Sympathy card

We heard tonight of the death of an old friend, so I've made this to send to his wife.
A5 side opening and as he was such a lovely man I've parted with a tassel.

Organza ribbon and tassel from Joanna Sheen. BG paper is from the collection Lemon Grass by Penny Springman from Sweet Shoppe.
Oh, I forgot to say I used two eyelets to thread the ribbon through. I haven't used them for quite some time and forgot how much hammering was needed :-(
Some of the flowers have an extra layer, can you call that decoupage?
