The Money Spyder: James Taylor Quartet

Think Ventures + Booker T + lost spy thriller (60's era) and you'd have the makings for some cool jazz with attitude, funk and beat, i.e. The James Taylor Quartet. This isn't easy-listening, smooth background jazz and it's not electronica jazz, but very organic, flowing, and an infectious change of pace.

"Think of The Money Spyder as the soundtrack to the coolest '60s international spy movie never made. Go-go Fender guitars and Hammond organ race from beginning to end. From the title track, with its mysterious piano line, to the urgent, fuzz-infested "Car Chase," we can pretty easily dream up a story line. From Carnaby Street we travel to the arms of an exotic double agent ("The Spiral Staircase"), only to end up somewhere in Spain for the final showdown ("Buzy Bee"). Ah, they don't make flicks like this anymore." --Percy Keegan (Amazon)

This looks sweet! I love the old John Barry soundtracks for the James Bond films (I've had "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball" since the movies were released in the mid-1960s!), so if this is as good as those I'll be one very happy little secret agent. Nice blog. You might want to visit my place: http://echoesinthewind.blogspot.com/ Cheers!

I liked it and I'm glad to have others discover them also. I've got a several other discs from the crime and spy era of the swanky 50's and 60's that I consider very enjoyable - (if I can locate them), I'll post soon. Soon means within 6 months... As they say, "stay tuned".
