Habitot

The weekend before we went to NY Joel had a Ludum Dare 48 Hour Programming Contest scheduled. It wasn't great timing, but it worked out ok.We needed to get out of the house on a Saturday so that Joel could focus on his game without our constant distractions, so we decided to spend the day at Habitot. It wasn't very crowded, and Holly had a lot of fun. On the way I thought she might fall asleep and take a nap, but she finished her bottle and was ready to go.She loves the water room. Now that she is bigger she is starting to understand the concept of pouring, and she likes to capture the water that flows down the river and then dump it out.Unfortunately this meant getting herself completely soaked. I sadly didn't have a second set of spare cloths for her to wear. Her pants got so wet I had to take them off her.It was worth it though, she was really making discoveries, figuring things out exploring, investigating. It was really neat watching the little wheels in her head turn as she played and observed. Here she is trying to use the magnetic fishing poles as drum sticks. She wasn't quite sophisticated enough to lift up the little fish at the end of the poles, but i showed her how and we tried. This is a little play kitchen. it is part of the diner set up they have. She is really starting to enjoy the imaginative play and imitating what mommy and Daddy do with shopping and cooking. This little area has a check out area, but that is more for older kids who get the idea of buying or paying for something, she isn't quite there yet. I'm just excited to see her pretend to cook. Here we are in the Baby garden. She is making friends with this little one. She really likes little babies, she is so interested in them, I sometimes wonder if she knows the difference between one of her dolls and the real baby.I wanted to share this picture to show off Holly's cute little outfit. They are adorable little white jeans, but I have since packed them up in her too small box.The manager at habitot let me use there dryer to dry Holly's cloths, not only were her jeans wet and nearly see through, her diaper outside was soaked from the water. With a fresh dry diaper she was ready to have a snack. I love it when she gets really hungry because then she is such a good eater. On this day she was very motivated and had an entire container of bananas. This is the climbing wall. You can't see but Berkeley, a little boy we met at Codornices Park showed up here and we played for a while. It turns out we even have the same pediatrician, we ran into them at Holly's last appointment. This is the first time she has actually climbed into the wall. She went up the first set of steps and through the tunnel to the other side, then back again. In order to get to the next level she really had to pull herself us.I realize with no more dry cloths I shouldn't really have let her back into the water room but she was so persistent I didn't really have any choice she kept running back and obsessing. She sure does love water. I think its great. And for the future I have learned to also have a spare set of cloths or two with me.

Cordornices Park with Sarah

Isabel and I take the kids to Willard park a lot, and a few weeks ago we decided we should try someplace new. While we have both been here before, it had been a while. So we ventured over to Cordornices park in Berkeley near the Rose Garden. The girls had a really fun time playing and making new friends. This is a good park because it has so many trees and isn't too sunny. There are swings and a large sand pit for the kids to play in.This is Lulu and her little brother Calder on the swings, we met them here and played. Below is a little boy named Berkeley with his older sister, whom I have also seen at Habitot before.Holly and Sarah are making music with the fun rattle tubes, one day I should bring a mallet for her to bang on them and see if that sounds pretty.I brought Holly's sand toys with me into the park, remembering that there was a big sand bit, and she had a lot of fun carrying her little bucket around like a purse. There were these two older boys who invaded the baby area of the park, and Holly wanted to play with them. They were playing make believe and were captains of this ship.Holly kept getting into the middle of there game so they decided to designate her the on board cook. It was pretty cute, and she was happy to be involved. She would carry sand over to the table and dump out her bucket and then get more sand, um.. I mean gruel for the crew! Here is Sarah and Isabel playing on the slide. Sarah loves the slide. These were fun because the kids could go down two by two together.Sarah is getting really fast at her scooting and crawling, and she is starting to pull up on just about everything, including her stroller.Since it was so shady we had to dress the girls in warmer cloths then usual, here is holly showing off her cute purple hoody. She snagged Isabel's phone and is running off.But I called her back and made sure she put it back in Isabel's bag so she would not loose it. Here they are talking on the phone to each other. When it was time to go, Holly followed the path and walked back through the park and up the hill. We had fun and it was a good change of scenery.
