It feels great to see my blog header there, in plain view, in colour, on a real website!
I do realise I've exposed myself as a small-timer here, reveling in an imagined 15 minutes (seconds?) of fame... but hey! Take it where you can get it.
Now it's up to me to step up to the keyboard, and write down all the crazy stories that have made up the patchwork of my 13 years here.
Thanks Poppytalk and thanks Ghana for giving me so much material to work with!!!

Holli,
Congratulations! I can't imagine why you shouldn't enjoy the wonderful comments they made about your blog. It is always gratifying to know people admire and are entertained by what you have done!
Now write some more!
I forgot to mention that your new photo is amazing! Did you take it yourself?
Thanks MF! The pic is from the Dipo ceremony near Somanya in Ghana and my 'guy' JW took the photo. He's got one of those CNN looking cameras with the bucket sized lenses - it takes great photos.
Wish I know how to upload bigger photos to blogger - I'd like to post alot from the ceremony...
hi, i just found out about your blog from poppytalk. sorry to be a stickler but i found an error in your "about me" section: the correct spelling is "coursing through my veins" (not coarsing). just thought you'd want to know :)
Wonderful photo up top! It made me cringe a little though. We just had a hair disaster at my house. Thanks for dropping by my blog. I'm looking forward to reading more of yours.
Hey, congrats man. What life deals, you take in spades. That's pretty much all there is to it.
@Brazen and Derik - thanks for the encouragement!
@MF - will communicate about the photos issue with you on e-mails - thanks!
@anonymous - thanks for pointing that out! Can you imagine I was once a spelling bee winner! :) Anyway, fixed..
Congrats. I think you deserve it because you have an amazing blog writing from a part of the world that I know so little..
Aunti Holli,
Please, please write that book! You are the best story teller I know :-)
Eagerly waiting.
Love,
Aunti Tessa
I thank you for your kind comment and have to compliment you in return. Although I don't know much about you yet, I was a little confused. You live in Ghana, you're Canadian, you're waiting to sail a boat from Granada, your son is going back to college in Canada. Sounds like a lot is going on. Did he go to school in Ghana? Internet school?
Congratulations and thanks for the wonderful comments of encouragement on my little blog. Now excuse me for a moment so can I start reading yours from the beginning.
@Gutsy - yes you have all the info correct - my boy is 16 and is going to an excellent International school here in Accra. Our boat is in Grenada and we will be moving onto it for a new chapter in life in 20 months! :)
@sk - thanks! Also keep up your great art work!
Hi, thanks for the visit on my blog and for the kind comment. I also like your header and you well deserve the limelight. Great work here and keep it going. I'll be following.
Yes, you must write about all of your experiences. Congrats on your web exposure. That's cool.
Congratulations! You have a lovely blog here. You deserve it.
Hi Holli (with an "i"), it's Holly (with a "y"). Congratulations on your junior celebrity-ness! That is wonderful. I was peeking through your blog and it sounds like life in Ghana is quite interesting. Do you find it hard to believe you've lived there 13 years now?
The photograph you have at the top of your blog is most intriguing as well. BTW, thanks for stopping by my blog. :)
@Lazy and Anne - thanks for the words of encouragement!
@Holly - thanks for visiting - and yes it actually shocks me when I think that I've been here for 13 years!! That's a lifetime!!!
The photo at the top is from a traditional puberty rites ceremony called Dipo in Ghana. My hubby is quite a good photographer and took this, along with many others that I have to get up on the site!!
Very thoughtfull post on gratitude. It should be very much helpfull
Thanks,
Karim - Mind Power
