Floral Ballet Card For Stampin For The Weekend

Hello everyone, it’s time for a new challenge over at Stampin For The Weekend! The theme for this challenge is:

Feeling Floral!

We would like to see you use flowers on your creations.
Here is my card:

Every second year the ballet school Danika (my 9 year old sister) and I dance at, has a ballet concert. This year the theme is Jack and the Beanstalk and the first performance is tonight! Tomorrow there are two more, one in the afternoon and one in the evening.
At the end of the previous concert our ballet teacher Colleen Williams comes on stage and thanks everyone who helped and we then give her a large bunch of flowers with a card to say Thank You. This year I volunteered to make the card - all the ballerinas write a little note or there names inside. So this is the one I made.

I used the Stamp Called Spring Leap from Whiff Of Joy and coloured her with the following Copics:
E37, E35 and E33 - For the girl’s hair.
R20, R21 and E00 - For her skin colour.
RV13, RV11 and RV10 - For the light pink parts of her dress.
RV34, RV32 and RV00 - For the darker pink parts of her dress.
RV19 - For the very dark pink lines and hearts on the dress.
E35, E33 and E53 - For the brown basket.
G17 and G14 - For the green leaves.
W3 - For a shadow around the stamp.

Some Flowers from Wild Orchard’s Crafts to add three dimensions to the card.

Some old lace to add texture to the card.

And some gems to finish the card off nicely.

Please hop over to Stampin For The Weekend and have a look at the other DT’s cards, I know you’ll love them!

I would also like to take part in the following challenges with this card:

The Ballet Concert 2012 Is Here!

As some of you know, my younger sister Danika and I do ballet at Colleen Williams' School of Ballet. Every second year we have a ballet concert and this year it is Jack and the Beanstalk! I will be dancing as a Farmer selling fruit and vegetables at the market where Jack sells the cow and a Waiter in the end party. Danika will be playing a balloon dancer also at the market.

All the ballet dancers always looks forward to this glorious event every two years. It’s going to be a spectacular display of colourful costumes and graceful pliĆ©s and pirouettes. More than a 100 ballerinas from as young as five years old to adults over 40 years will take part in the production.

This past Saturday we had the dress-rehearsal and this coming weekend is the concert!

If you live in Cape Town be sure not to miss it!
Tickets are R60 for the evening shows and R50 for the afternoon show.

I will post photos after the concert for my over sea blog readers!
Have a wonderful day

My Feet Are Sore!!

Well, that’s right, I have sore feet! If you have been reading my blog for a while you might know that I got ballet pointe shoes a few weeks ago.
We are only allowed to do pointe work once a week for a start. I had three lessons on pointe so far and after class on Monday my feet was a little sore, but nothing to bad. On Tuesday morning I found out that my right foot was a bit blue just at my big toe!
Here is what it looked like! It’s purple-blue!
I also discovered later the morning that my left foot was sore too when doing a rise. I was a little worried, because I had class that Tuesday afternoon at four.
So my dad gave me DMSO spray and CMO cream to put on (My dad’s a Naturopath). I put it on three times during that day and by the afternoon it was much better.  But as I went through the class the pain got worse again. I was unable to do “Releve” and “Pirouettes”, because of the pain in the side of my left foot.
When I got home, I treated myself with the “Rikta Cold Laser”, put some more DMSO and CMO on and went to bed.
On Wednesday morning the pain was gone! I’m SO glad I have a great dad that know how to treat my sore foot! Because it was really sore.
I think I hurt my foot by trying to do “Demi Pointe” with my pointe shoes:

Haha, this is not easy at all!

Or maybe not jumping right on to my block, but a bit skew.
Well ballet isn’t easy, but is a LOT of fun! I still enjoy working on my points a lot and it’s one of the best events in my week!
Now since we are talking about pointe shoes.....

Does anyone know where this classic pictures had their origin? I know lot of ballet schools have pointe shoes hanging like this on the wall; as their logo; at the door; in a ballet movie or a book.
Well I just happen to find out! (Well I think so! Lol!)
You know, when you get pointe shoes they normally come in a bag like this one:
I really like this bag, but my ballet teacher recommend when you get home you must take them out of the bag and hang them up. Your feet perspire and that makes your shoes soft, TOO FAST! Then you have to buy new ones within a month or so!
So that is where I think the picture of pointe shoes hanging came from. You have to hang them in fresh air, where it’s open! So they last longer.
Now my pointe shoes is also hanging, from my curtain rail! I’m going to ask my dad to fit me a special peg in the wall to hang them on, but for now they will hang from my curtain rails!
I hope you liked the pictures!
Till next time:

I Got Ballet Pointe Shoes!!!!!!!!!

As some of you know already, my best and only sport is ballet. I have been doing ballet since I was five, which means this is my 10th year of ballet.
Two weeks ago, my ballet teacher told me and a few other class friends that our feet are now strong enough for pointe shoes. Yes, I though I was not hearing right. Finally! After waiting so long! Since I was a little girl seeing the “big girls” dancing on pointe shoes I wanted to have them too.
So on Monday the 8th I got my first pointe shoes.
My ballet teacher went with us, to make sure we got the right kind of shoes and that they fit correctly.

Me (right) putting on my “toe caps”

Putting on my first pair of pointe shoes on.
My first “rise” on pointe.
After trying on a lot of different makes and sizes I found a pair “Sansha” size 10, Width W.
When I got home, I took a few pictures:

That afternoon my mother attached the ribbons and when my dad got home from work we had a “photo shoot” of me and my points!
I just LOVE this picture!!!

I love my new pointe shoes! I know I’m going to have to work very hard to be good, and I need to work my feet to get them even stronger. Some girls said very different things about pointe shoes, that it’s SO hard to dance with and rising and all that. It is difficult to keep your balance, but if your feet are strong then it’s not that hard as some girls say! Practice makes perfect!!
This picture (at the top) is one I took! In a mirror of me with my pointe shoes and ballet dress of last year’s ballet consent and I would like to enter it into Monday Moments Photo Challenge - Reflection

This is what it looked like when I took the above picture!
My dad took this one with his iPhone. My mother (hiding away) is holding the mirror straight while I try to balance myself, getting a pretty position, keeping the camera still and take a picture.
I hope you like my photos!
Have a blessed week further!

So here is my card:

I just love the colours and paper!!
I designed my own sketch on Keynote and I enjoyed working with it!
This is one of my favorite stamps! Probably because I LOVE ballet!
I bought her from Whiff of Joy and her name is Spring Leap. I colored her with the following Copics:
 E37, E35, E33 and E53 - for her hair and the basket.
R20, R21 and E00 - for her skin
V06 and V04 - for the dark purple shade of her dress.
V04 and V01 - for the lighter shade of her dress and flowers in her hair.
R29 and R27 - for the red ribbon, hearts on her dress and ballet shoes.
G17, G14 and G12 - for the leaves of the flowers.
W3 - for a shadow around the stamp.
Here I stuck some lace and a beautiful red ribbon with a bow.

Then I added some more lace and ribbon in the top right corner and put three sparkling, pink buttons, that a dear friend gave me, on top of the lace.
