Real Life Pins

The other day, I looked over to the side of my desk and realized how truly disgusting my pinboard looked. It was full of out dated papers (from like, kindergarten), stupid little magazine clippings of cartoon characters and a whole lot of old lists. So I decided to re-organize and make myself an inspiration board instead. I went on my pinterest and looked through all of the pins, putting my favourites  into a word document. I printed off 3 pages worth and cut them out individually. Then I pinned them up individually and managed to pack all of them in!

Unfortunately I ran out of push pins, so I had to start using sewing pins. I actually kind of like how they turned out, especially since I could match the colour better to the picture I was pinning.

I'm really excited about this pincoard now. I feel like every time I get stuck on something I'm working on, I can just look over and be inspired.

This is True

The other day I went on a walk with my family. The snow is finally starting to melt and it was absolutely beautiful outside. I brought along my camera like I always do but eventually my family gets tired of me taking pictures of them. While I'm lagging behind taking pictures of everything else, I look ahead and my mom and dad are holding hands walking together. How cute!

My parents will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary soon, and through everything they've still been each-others best friends. To me, that's the kind of love you want. Yes they disagree about things, yes they're mad once in a while, but is there anything more beautiful than sharing life with your best friend? That's the kind of love I want, and someday hopefully that will happen.

My page was inspired by This One which I found on Pinterest initially.

Imminent Ideas

I love the cool things you can find on Pinterest! Here is a list of a couple of my favorites :)
I would love to have a large picture like this... but i don't know of what. From here

I want to do this, so badly. From here

I really really want to make one of these. Or just buy one, but they're super expensive...

I need to make these, I love them. But now I need to save up a ton of Starbucks bottles... From here

Definitely will be doing this with my best friends. From here
I thought this was HILARIOUS solely because of the expression. Okay... not JUST because of the expression...

Lemon Crinkles

Two weeks ago I made these cookies for my business program kids. I had promised to make them cookies, and Reading week gave me the perfect opportunity to actually make them. Definitely the best "non chocolate chip" cookies I've ever made, so double up on the recipe! (Recipe found on Pinterest from here originally)
My cookies definitely turned out puffier than this, not really sure why...

I doubled up on the lemon zest (and possibly even the juice) and rather than pulling out my mixer I just used a large whisk. The dough is soft enough that you can still mix it easily enough, just make sure to add the flour a little at a time to make mixing easier and less messy :)

Crayola Hearts

Pinterest, like many other ladies (and some guys!) my new addiction. The amount of inspiration I find every day is incredible. One of these projects has caught many peoples attention just because how unusual and fun this project is. If any of you have Pinterest, you will definitely recognize the "crayon melting on canvas" that EVERYONE seems to have pinned.

I was inspired by this picture, just because it was different from the rest and I hadn't thought of placing my crayons in a shape before heating.

This is how you do it!
Glue your crayons on a canvas with hot glue. You can keep the paper on, or take it off, whatever your preference is. Then all you need to do if heat the crayons with a blow dryer or heat gun (I used an embossing gun because it was hotter and directed the wax better) and tilt the canvas and let the wax run! Make sure you've covered your work surface with something, this can get super messy.

And here's my finished product!

This is completely amazing, I love the colors. I wonder how long it took to make?

If i guy ever sent me this, I would definitely laugh, but he would also be the coolest guy ever.

At the moment this incredibly applies to me.

So I guess it's best to just always be happy :)

Words to L*ve By

ANother Pinterest themed post, though this one is just quotes that I've collected to far that I want to live or love my life by.

Just some things to think about. Sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in a rut and not moving anywhere, and then I realize how quickly my life would pass me by if I didn't love and notice every detail of my days. The smaller things have begun to make me happier now: a leaf perfectly veined in frost, a bird and a squirrel freaking out at one another... To remember that our lives are filled with beautiful things other than ourselves is a wake up call. But it makes you more thankful for every moment.

Pinterest Love

So pinterest has definitely given me some new, fabulous ideas and inspiration
For example, the page from here inspired this one

The title "maroons" is kind of an inside joke. One day at camp we were commenting on how maroon is such an ugly colour and one of the camp directors told us that back in his day "maroon" meant a loser, so of course we started to use it as well :)

The Journalling says "Before our staff party Dani and I decided to get together and scamper around in our aprons and take pictures. I'm unused to doing any portraiture because my brother hates when I take his picture, but I think this session worked out well."
