St Joseph Cathedral in Manchester, NH

This church has had an amazing transformation.  Back in 1969 the old magnificent High Altar was destroyed to make way for a modern, new altar (ie. table).  In the last couple of years, the church has been restored with an altar rescued from an old church that closed in Boston.  Below is the restored sanctuary.

St Mary in Norwalk, CT - Part 2

Notice the magnificent High Altar and the ornate painting throughout the church.

1930's

During the turbulent 60's, the altars were decapitated, the communion rail was removed and the walls painted to make a very plain interior.
St Mary fared far better than most churches during a wreck-o-vation, but it is tragic nonetheless.

1960's

The beginning of the restoration . . . lovely painting of the sanctuary, removal of the free-standing altar and restoration of the communion rail!

2011

Glorious new reredos at the high altar and spectacular painting.
