Movies
I'm amidst my 'Christmas movie watching schedule'...I go through this every year. There are so many good Christmas movies, so little time. I'm not proud of last year's performance: didn't even watch Home Alone. Well, as soon as finals are over, I'm going to get serious.
I hit a glitch yesterday though, I watched Sleepless in Seattle. You're probably thinking, "great film...but since when is that part of a Christmas movie watching schedule?" I'm sorry! I don't know what I was thinking! I really thought it was a holiday flick for some reason...and, in my defense, it does start with Christmas, go to New Years, and end on Valentines Day. Definitely not Christmas enough to make the list though. What a waste. I could have been watching Mickey's Christmas Carol.

Bittersweet...
Our Relief Society presidency was released yesterday. It's a pretty weird feeling! I was emotional about it for a few days, I felt like I needed more time. There are projects I didn't get to finish and things I didn't start...but I realized pretty quick I had to let it go, it's someone elses turn. One of the best things about student wards like mine is getting to have callings like I had. I really got to see how the church is run. It's changed the kind of member I'll be from now on!

Then & Now
Frank took some pictures for me last week, it's funny to compare them to my senior pics from 2003. Check out my ratted hair and dark make-up...times change. It's also funny to think about my hair cycle- six months after the 2003 pic I cut it short and kept it that way till last year. Now it's finally grown out to the same length- took me 5 years!

Early Christmas for me!
I must have been a good girl this year, because I've already received 2 Christmas presents! First, Scott was up visiting on an absolutely beautiful fall day and he surprised me by taking me shopping for my present...golf clubs! He wanted to get me them for Christmas but it was such nice weather he decided to do it early so we could play. On the driving range I hit one 170 yards...that's my farthest yet! I love the clubs, I'm so excited to get better!
This week Mom and Dad gave me sky miles for Christmas! I get to fly to Philadelphia for ten dollars! Planning the trip and getting excited for it has been so fun, I can't wait! Looking forward to it is getting me through the last month of the semester.

Votes for Women!
I slipped out on my lunch hour to meet Ashley at King elementary. We wanted to vote together; she just turned 18 a month ago so this was her first time! It's funny to think she'll never know what it was like using the poker and chad, it's all electronic and so user friendly now!
When we walked into the building, we ran into one of our neighbors. She joined us as we walked down the hall. A second later, we passed another neighbor lady on her way out. When we walked into the room, all four volunteers were women. They were all excited that Ash was voting for her first time. It went smooth and we each earned a coveted "I VOTED" sticker.
As we left, I couldn't help but get the same feeling I always do when I vote...the feeling that I am so lucky to be a woman at this point in time. I am in awe of the ones that paved the way for this all to be possible. I bet they're up there in Heaven cheering us women on as we mark our ballots!

Coffee Wisdom
I've never bought coffee for my office before, but today is a board retreat and I put together a little breakfast for them. I thought I'd left enough time (45 minutes) to pick up two bags of ice, run to Einstein's, and get over to the retreat...but apparently coffee takes 30 minutes to brew! It was close.
Anyways, Scott was there helping me and we were talking about how surprised we were by how many people get coffee and breakfast in the morning! I mean, Einsteins bagels was THE place to be at 8 am this morning. After setting up at the retreat we had breakfast on the mind, so we went over to Barnes & Noble and got our own legal addictive stimulants (mint hot chocolate for him and a raspberry milk steamer for me). It was so fun to start our day sipping hot drinks and chatting at a cute table for two (minus the fact that I scalded my tongue). We were both thinking "wow, we could get used to this!"
Then we started doing the math. We figured out how much it would cost to do this 5 days a week- it's practically a cell phone payment! As glamorous as we felt...we came back down to reality pretty quickly. Our quaint breakfast left it's mark on me though. I think I'm going to establish quarterly 'coffee' breakfasts. So the next one will be in...February! Anyone want to join me???
(P.S. Can I give a shout out to Scott? He's been in town this whole week and it's been so great to get to see him! Seeing each other 4 days in a row has made us almost feel like a normal couple!)

Poor Little Blog
So I just read Marilyn's blog for the first time: it's amazing...I officially need a "blog tutorial". I don't even know how to put in a picture. Marilyn, if you read this...HELP!
Everyone else, look for some major changes coming in the possibly near future.

Confession:
I think I'm still afraid of thunder and lightning. This week a storm woke me up in the middle of the night. First I thought my window was going to break from hail...then my room kept flashing neon blue from lightning...then the thunder. Man it was something else! I was counting and the thunder would rumble for twenty seconds straight! That's just wrong. It was really creeping me out.

RECAP
Hi there,
Looks like I'm about as consistent at blogging as I am writing in my journal. I'll work on frequenting both more... here's the top five highlights of the last six weeks for me:
10 Cutler Family Fiddlers debut concert- Doing the community concert was so so fun. About 500 people showed up (including our whole dentist office!). It was one of the coolest things I've ever done. It was a lot of work but so worth it! Such a great opportunity!
9 First Solo Plane Ride- I had a blast flying to Reno for a weekend with the Fallon crew. I flew standby which was crazy. I fell in love with lake Tahoe, ate at in 'n out, went to an antique car show, drove on the loneliest highway in America, and had a run in with a mongoose...It was a great time with Scott!
8 My Best Friend is Pregnant- I am so excited for Jenna to have a baby. Don't tell Greg, but I'm crossing my fingers for a little girl! I'm getting ready to become auntie heather. I almost ran the car off the freeway when she told me..it was quite a surprise!
7 Josh Groban: part two - I attended my second Josh Groban concert of the year. It was awesome! This guy is the absolute best singer and performer. My dream is to be the barefoot violinist to go on tour with him. I don't think I'll ever get sick of listening to him.
6 Weber State: part four- School started and I'm quickly getting back into the swing of things. For the first symphony concert I get to be the assistant concertmaster...I've always wanted this opportunity! My favorite class of the semester??? Accounting. I was dreading having to take the class, but I LOVE it.
5 Scott & Heather- September 1st marks four years since Scott and I met. We sat together on the bus that day and went on our first date two days later. He's the best- he makes me laugh everyday and I still get butterflies in my stomach when I see him.

First Things First
I'm excited for this new hobby! It seems like the stars aligned and the world was ready and waiting for my blog...actually, I had two different people in two days tell me about blogs and suggest I start one. That was destiny enough for me.
Well this weekend was great- my 4 roommates (from school a few years ago) all stayed in Heber at a cabin. We talked for hours. It was so fun. I look up to all of them, they are great.
Yesterday the family did something fun- we took a color/personality test. I ended up being blue; the same color as mom. That didn't surprise me- I notice that I'm becoming more and more like her each year. Everyone else in the family was gold except for Luke- he was the unique one in the bunch. My color apparently needs loving gestures; Luke interpreted that as a literal 'gesture'. He's been teasing by giving me 'thumbs ups' and winks every time I enter a room...
Well this should do it for now, I'm excited to put pictures up for ya'll to see!
