January Food Post

Getting ready to do my monthly photo post and I am realizing that I took enough photos of food this month to make an entire entry!! Part of the reason is that I recently got a bigger cast iron skillet and actively sought out recipes to try in it.

Like this shrimp and sausage rice.

I got pretty brave and cooked with a bunch of ingredients I don't normally use,
such as bone-in, skin on thighs, and tangelos.
Recipe here.
Of course, no month would be complete without a sushi date or two.
This was just my portion.
What? I like food.
 Mike made Million Dollar Spaghetti.

I had a delicious carrot cake at Duke's.

Lemon chicken orzo.

Chicken and peppers over couscous with salsa verde.

And unstuffed peppers with ground turkey and lime.

  1. That sushi portion looks completely acceptable to me. But then again, sushi is the one food I can gorge myself silly on no matter what the time of day. YUMMMM.

  4. Hungry now. I'm going to make that Spaghetti for my husband, he will love it! Did you know you cannot buy chicken thighs in Germany? I went to a butcher shop to special order them and paid a fortune and they were tiny and full of bone chips. Apparently the butcher doesn't know how to cut meat without splintering it. One of my favorite foods is teriyaki chicken thighs on the bbq. Gotta go back to America for that!

I wish I knew about cast iron pans. No idea.
