2023: By the Numbers and Goal Review

One last "looking back" post before I go back to the regular blogging schedule. This is mostly for my own records.

Year in Review 2023

My favorite Christmas Eve tradition is recapping the year on the blog. It's a great way to look back, unwind, and reminisce.

The biggest purchase of the year was the horse trailer. It felt like the culmination of a lifelong dream. The year has definitely centered around the horses and I don't take a single adventure for granted. Booger in particular really came into her own. We had our first official endurance season and she exceeded all my expectations.

This year, I went back to keeping my notebook full of lists so I will probably do a 2023 By the Numbers post closer to the new year.

For now, let's just go month by month and recap what 2023 looked like for me.

2022 Year in Review

This is by far my favorite blogging tradition, and honestly one of the big reasons I keep plunking away at the keyboard year after year. 2022 was definitely a new chapter for me.

2021 Year in Review

Well, 2021 is over and I think you'll all agree with me when I say, "What the fuck was that?"

All joking aside, the past year was one of massive changes. I am in a completely different place in my life than I was 365 days ago, and it's time to look back and see how we got here.

2020 Year in Review

It's Christmas Eve and this is my blogging tradition so I'm gonna just power on through even though 2020 was a bizarre year. I'm not going to spend a ton of time on the crappy points of the year that everyone is already aware happened. There is still a week left in 2020 and I'm not naive enough to think that the new year will magically reset everything, but so far Mike and I have come away most unscathed personally. It hasn't been for a lack of effort. We've given up a lot and are just doing our best to keep our heads low and ride out the storm. Still, we had a lot of good memories in 2020. Here's my usual month-by-month breakdown of the year.

2019 Year in Review

Time for my annual Christmas Eve tradition! I do this mostly for myself so feel free to ignore :) This year was an epic one, even by my standards. Mike and I visited every state on the east coast and California. There were a lot of firsts. It was my most accomplished endurance season to date. I've been blogging less in terms of number of posts, but I feel like there's more substance to the blog than in years past. It's tough to keep the blog up-to-date with so much going on, but it's a priority to me. I think I've found a balance with that this year. I'll probably do some goal review and "by the numbers" posts for New Year's, but today is just about recapping 2019...

2010's Photo Challenge

Saw this one floating around blogland and instantly loved it. With the decade coming to an end, share one picture from each of the 2010's to showcase your decade in review! It was super hard for me to pick just one picture per year, but I was determined not to cheat! Conveniently, the end of 2010 is when I started this blog, so this will be a fun recap for long time followers!

Year in Review 2018

My annual Christmas Eve blogging tradition :) This year was a rough one in many ways, some of which I never discussed on here. Still, it featured a lot of good memories and wonderful people. At the risk of jinxing everything, it was also a financially lucky year for us, which is probably a first. Here's the month-by-month breakdown of 2018. Hopefully I'll tie up a lot of loose ends in this post, since I mostly blog in fits and spurts any more.

Year in Review 2017

Where does the time go? As we get ready to wrap up 2017 and ring in 2018, I find myself  going through blog posts from the last year, and being surprised at how much stuff I'd forgotten about already. This year did not pan out the way I pictured it in so many ways, but boy did a lot of things change for the positive! I'm sticking with my annual tradition and doing my month-by-month breakdown of 2017!

Year in Review 2016

My usual Christmas Eve tradition.

This year was a busy one. I accomplished many goals and tried new things. Mike and I got engaged and then married. There were ups and downs and adventures. Here is my annual month-by-month review of 2016.

2015 Year in Review

A day late because our power went out just as I was sitting down to start on this yesterday morning. It has been a good year with a lot of really low points. I felt like I was cursed this endurance season and never did find a good note to end on. Still, Mike and I moved in the right direction with our lives, and I accomplished a lot along the way. I don't feel the same, "OMG is it over yet?" that I've felt the last two years, and I am excited to see what 2016 brings. Here is my annual month-by-month recap. Feel free to ignore. I do this for my own records.

2014 in Review

As has become tradition, it is time for my Christmas Eve Year in Review post. I could not wait for 2013 to be behind me, and greeted 2014 with open arms. It turned out to be a big year in many ways. It was full of ups and downs, and more endurance miles than I've ever managed in one season. This post is mostly for my own sake, so feel free to skip.

2013 Year in Review

It has become my blogging tradition to do my 'year in review' post every Christmas Eve. 2013 was a hard, stressful year in a lot of ways and I am not sad to see it go. There were good times to be had, but we just couldn't shake our bad luck, no matter how hard we tried. Here's hoping 2014 is better...

Despite the hard times, I met some amazing people this year. I also found out that I am surrounded by loving, supportive, and loyal people. My business has grown despite major set backs. Our animal family has grown as well. We are now up to three horses and two dogs (though I'm hoping to downsize by a horse next year). We had some great trips, saw some new places, and tried some fun things for the first time.  Here are the parts of 2013 worth remembering... for better or worse.

Year in Review

In my usual blogging tradition, I am sitting in front of the fire, ready to recap my last year. 2012 was a fast paced and exciting year that brought a lot of changes. I got to travel, try new things, and meet some really fantastic and important people. I feel like this year brought a lot of tragedy to a lot of people I know and love, but the year was kind to me. I went into the year unemployed and at a loss for what to do next, but with a renewed attitude and sense of determination, and with a brilliant man at my side. So here it is... my month by month recap of the last year.

Sorry if this is disjointed!

Year in Review

This seems appropriate since this is my new blog and many of you don't have a lot of back story on me. According to tradition, what you do on Christmas Eve reflects what your upcoming year will be, so today seems like a good day to look back on the last year. Here's how 2010 went for me.
