***SEVERE WEATHER WAS BIGGEST CONCERN***

This is a Monday afternoon edit.

Yes- there were the shootings, stabbings, car wrecks, fires, robberies and your what-have-you both weekend overnights.

The historic news story was unfolding about 300 miles southwest of us however.

Gary Lezak's storm chaser relayed the report that Greensburg had been struck by a tornado early in NBC41's 10-o'clock newscast.

The town of around 1,500 people had "heavy damage" but the extent was still unclear with night having set in and the whole town powerless.

As you see by my blog below - as time went on early Saturday morning what sporatic communications that were getting out were indicating Greensburg was "wiped out."
"Every ambulance within 100 miles" being sent into the town was mentioned several times on a monitored broadcast from the area.

The town's police, fire and EMS vehicles were crushed and the hospital partially destroyed - the first fatality was not reported until about 3 am.. That number has risen to 10 as of this writing.
Around 100 people suffered some injury and there's still more than a dozen people in critical condition.
Not yet a complete account for every resident of the town either.

We have some high water problems right now.
But this does not compare - in my nearly 50 years of weather study - to a town the size of Greensburg, Kansas wiped out by a tornado.

* A pedestrian was struck in LAWRENCE, KS around 1:30 am at 11th St. & Tennessee. EMS reported the patient's injuries non life-threatening.

***OVERNIGHT WEATHER***

Clear skies and temperatures in the upper-50's prevailed overnight.

Most areas will see 80-degree temperatures today and possibly into Tuesday- when the next weather-maker in the form of a cool front moves into the area.

There are some concerns this front may become stationary in our area for the rest of the week - providing several periods of showers and thunderstorms.

Although no severe weather is expected until next weekend at the earliest- heavy rains on top of moist soils could create some flooding problems if slow-moving storms do develop Tuesday night and/or through the rest of the week.

***QUESTIONS WHY A MAN DROWNS AT A KC, MO. CASINO***

It's the second violent death at the Isle of Capri casino in the past several months.

The call was dispatched at 12:28 am Saturday morning with both police and MAST-EMS saying "a man being chased by (casino) security jumped into (a) moat." Authorities at the scene would not confirmed that piece of information to news sources.

The male- later described by a MAST paramedic as in "his mid-20's" - disappeared under the surface of the reported "15-foot deep" moat that Missouri casinos are required to float on.

Lee's Summit Underwater Recovery divers were called to the scene by KC-MO Fire and the man's body - "in full cardiac arrest"- was pulled from the water at 1:30 am..

He was taken to a nearby trauma center where he was soon pronounced dead.

An investigation of this incident is underway by the Missouri Highway Patrol Gaming Commission arm.

Several months ago, a shooting at this casino left one woman dead and another man seriously injured.
