Bonjour!

Bonjour! Well, the Christmas cards are all finished, so I thought I would start sharing more non-holiday cards with you.  This French 50's Cafe stamp set from Crafter's Companion was just begging to be colored with the Spectrum Aqua markers, so that was my starting point.  I created the background by using the debossed side of the embossing folder.  I finished the scene out with some adorable die-cuts.

Thank You Fall Leaf Card

This was a fun stamp to play around with my watercolors.  I inked the stamp with my Spectrum Aqua pens, and then stamped onto dampened watercolor paper.  I re-inked the stamp with Versamark and heat embossed with black powder.  I painted the background with Twinkling H2O's.

Poppy Power

I am really enjoying playing with watercolors and thought that the Large Poppies stamp would be fun to practice my techniques.  I used the Spectrum Aqua pens, but first heat embossed the image with black powder. This technique is quick and easy, perfect for summer days!

June Tutorial for Crafter's Companion

Watercolors, Masking, and Embossing, Oh My

Crafters Companion US supplies:

Other Supplies:
Heat Tool
Imagine Crafts Sheer Shimmer Spritz ( Sparkle), Embossing Powder: Gold, Black
DCWV Corrugated Cardstock
WorldWin Cardstock, Vellum
Round Watercolor Brush
Coarse Salt
Tombow Removable Adhesive
May Arts Ribbon EM94 1.5" Net
Button

 Directions:

  1.  Stamp the poppy image onto the watercolour paper using watermark ink. (Be sure to stamp a little of the image off to the side and bottom).
  2. Sprinkle with black embossing powder and heat set.
  3. Using the Spectrum Aqua markers, add a little Orange to the bottom of the flower and Scarlet at the tops of the flowers, leaving white space in the center.
  4.  Spray Sheer Shimmer Spritz onto the craft mat. Using a watercolor brush, blend the colors together with the Shimmer Spritz.  This will create a beautiful glimmer to the colors.
  5.     Use the fine tip end of the Spectrum Aqua markers to color the stems.
  6.  Stamp the poppy image onto vellum to use as a mask. Since the vellum is clear, this will make it easier to align the colored image and the mask.
  7.  Cut around the mask, including inner areas of the stems.
  8.  Use removable adhesive to place the mask on the colored image.
  9.  Stamp the script image over the poppies, using watermark ink. Sprinkle with gold embossing powder.  Remove the mask before heat setting.
  10.  Replace the mask and use the darker blue marker to add shadows around the poppies, and the lighter blue to add color to the background.  Blend using the brush and Shimmer Spritz.
  11.  Sprinkle coarse salt over the wet watercolor and allow to dry.  Brush away the salt.
  12.   Remove the mask. Add panel to card base as desired.

Sheena's Laguna Release for Crafter's Companion

I know you are going to be excited to see the full new release by Crafter's Comanion today - Sheena's new Laguna line.  I've always loved Passion Flowers, and this beautiful stamp is so fun to color.  I used the Spectrum Noir pens to color the base, and then added shading with the Spectrum Noir Blendable pencils.  Such a realistic image!

Time to Nest with Technique Junkies

Hi, it's Gini, and I'm excited to share my first blog post with you today on the Technique Junkies blog!  I love trying new techniques and of course, adore beautiful stamps - so this is the perfect place for me.

I used two different stamps for my background - Burlap Flowers and Fat Smudged Lines.  I had fun with some embossing techniques, including a variation of the Outlined Resist Tutorial from the Bodacious Background Stamps CD.

My focal image, Nesting Bird, was colored with Spectrum Aqua markers.  I then cut the image and used foam adhesive to apply it to the card.

The sentiment is from the very fun Mae West Sentiments (from the Palettini Collection).

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a bright and beautiful day.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

It's wonderful to have a long holiday weekend, and I am enjoying the pretty spring weather.  I have a card to share with you today, again, using the Spectrum Aqua makers.  I created the background first with a wash of the markers, and sprinkled coarse salt on it while wet. I then stamped the wildflowers using the Wedding Dress Memento Luxe Ink, then drew on the stamp with my Aqua Markers, offset it from the original image and stamped again.  It created a lovely and subtle shadow for the flowers.

Technique Junkies New Team, New Website, New Stamps Blog Hop

Welcome to the Technique Junkies Blog Hop to celebrate our new design team, new website and of course, new stamps for the April release!  The hop starts out on the TJ Blog, so if you didn't start there, you may want to start at the beginning, so you don't miss any of the wonderful projects.  If you've been following the hop, you should have arrived from the very talented Jane Bosi's blog.
We would love for you to head over and take a look at the new TJ Website, and to entice you more, all stamps are 15% off between April 1-8th - so it's the perfect time to stock up!

I love this new stamp - Watercolor NY (S633), and knew I would enjoy inking it up and coloring with my Spectrum Aqua pens.  I created the stars in the sky by dripping water on my dried sky.  The sentiment, Forever and a Day (SD599), is also from the April Release.

Now get ready for more inspiration, by hopping over to Jerri Jone's Blog.

Flowers For You

I am having so much fun playing with my Spectrum Aqua Markers, so I have another card to share with you that I colored with these great pens!  I stamped the image onto watercolor paper, put some of the marker onto an acyrlic block, and used a round paintbrush and water to apply a light shade of pigment.  For the darker areas, I used the pen directly onto the paper, and blended it out a bit with the brush and water.

I absolutely love the Artisan Style Collection from Graphic 45.  I grew up around Asheville, NC - and this style of architecture is extremely embraced for it's  historical significance as well as it's  inspiring beauty.

I stamped the Craftsman home on watercolor paper, and embossed with black power.  I used the Spectrum Aqua pens to "paint" my house.
