Sew Beautiful Journal Page with Art Anthology

I usually like to have some sort of a plan for a project before I start.....so, sometimes I struggle with art journal pages.  I'm trying to work on being a little more free when I create, so these pages are great exercises for that.  As I worked on this one, it became more and more quilt/fabric like - so I added some embroidery image stencils over the top to finish the theme.

I began by using plastic canvas waste as a stencil and misting with Colorations ( Waimea Bay and Heart).

Then I used  houndstooth stencil and spread Baby Blue Eyes Sorbet over it.

I made marks using Vegas Gold Sorbet with a comb and Red Velvet Sorbet with a cardboard tube.

I misted the page with Colorations - Hottie.

I painted over part of the page with Art Anthology gesso.

I stencilled the base of the flowers with Mi Bella Sorbet and the centers with Persimmon Velvet.

I used Modeling Paste to stencil the embroidery hoop and thread spools.

Then I used the Dimensional Crystal to color in the images.

I finished off the page with some  sequin hearts from May Arts and a "beautiful" sticker from Ki Memories.

Seeing Stars

I have a beautiful art journal - well, the outside is gorgeous.  But I realized, I had only completed a couple of pages on the inside - so I decided it was time to do something about that.  And today, I'll share my first efforts with you.

I primed my page with gesso.  After it was dry, I lightly sprayed it with water, and used an old credit card to spread out some Art Anthology Velvet paint in Reef.
I painted Baby Blue Eyes Sorbet paint on  Hampton Art's Fancy Facade (PS0817) and stamped it to add texture.
I cut stars from dictionary pages and glued them to the page and then traced around them with a charcoal pencil.
Next, I used the Hampton Art chevron mask from Mod Greetings (SC0641) and the Honolulu Blue Sorbet.  I love this glossy, sparkly layer.

I stamped the sentiment, but cut the words apart and inked them and glued to the page. Finally, I misted over the page with the Colorations - Waimea Bay.  For a bit of contrast, I added dots of the Dimensional Crystal in Red Corvette.

Thanks for stopping by!

Mixing Creativity with Crystal Lacquer Blog Hop

Welcome to the Sakura Hobby Craft Blog Hop - Mixing Creativity with Crystal Lacquer. You should have arrived here from Susan Brown's blog - if not, be sure to head back to the Sakura Hobby Craft blog to start at the beginning.

There will be a great prize of three of the Terri Sproul Mixers for one lucky hopper - and one of the artists today will win a prize as well. To be eligible to win, you must leave a comment on the Sakura Blog, telling which project was your favorite (I'm hoping you will vote for mine - lol!)

This will be my last post as a member of the Sakura DT - and I must say I've had so much fun serving on this team. I'm sure the new team will have many fun and amazing projects to share with you! Today I created a page in my art journal. Let me just tell you, this page has some layers!

I painted the background with Creative Inspirations Paints in Evergreen, Aqua Marine, Royal Blue and Tanzanite. I stamped vintage typography with the Unity stamp - SheArt Print Texture. Next, I randomly brushed on some Sakura Crystal Lacquer and sprinkled Terri Sproul Gold Dust Mixer over it. This is so shiny it looks like real gold!

I stamped an embossed a heart from the January SMAK kit using Suzy West's Bay Area Blue embossing powder from Wow. I spritzed the entire page with Ranger Mists and then went back to stamping. I used the numbers background from the December SMAK kit. You can barely see these, but I love how they just add a little more depth to the page. I painted more of the Creative Inspirations Paints onto the Painted Punchinella stamp and randomly stamped that in open areas. I added a sentiment from the Donna + Unity = FABric Creations set. I let some Crystal Lacquer drip down my page, and I added more of the Gold Dust mixer. I then spritzed it again to help blend the whole page together.

The chipboard piece is from Dusty Attic. Again, I used the Gold Dust Mixer and Sakura Crystal Lacquer - but this time, I mixed them thoroughly together and painted it on. I rubbed the edges with the Creative Inspirations paints.

I hope you are enjoying the hop! Don't forget...if you want to have a chance to win the prize, you need to leave a comment on the Sakura Blog, telling which project is your favorite. Now it's time to hop on to Barbara Moore's blog.
