To Rusty With Love

At the risk of getting boring I have completely lost my mojo since hurting my arm (if you're the only person on the planet who doesn't know about it read more here!) So I was determined to join in on my favourite challenges this week and combined them together! Everything Wendy Vecchi wanted us to use Wendy's CFA technique from here and Simon Says Stamp and Show want us to get rusty!
I made a tag using my favourite PaperArsty paint Beach Hut and then put Indigo and Classic Treasure Gold through a mask and round the edges of the tag and tag topper I made. Then I sanded it all and added Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the tag. I then stamped the background stamp from Love to Make Art randomly in the background and the heart on some Sticky Back Canvas. The canvas was adhered to some CFA and then cut out. I coloured the heart with Barn Door Distress Stain and gently heated so I could curl the top slightly. I added some ideaology foliage to the heart which I'd painted, sanded and added more of the Treasure Gold to.
The wire was coloured with Alcohol Inks to make it look rusty. The wings are just gorgeous and I adhered the heart to them and attached them to the tag on top of the wire. So I hope that this might be the start of my mojo returning - it was certainly a lot of fun playing with ink again!

In a Heartbeat

This fortnight's challenge at Dragons Dream Tag It On was chosen by the lovely Trace who chose the theme "In a heartbeat" which is to include a beating heart, a weathered timepiece, a bit of grunge (plus the obligatory use of at least one stamp and for it to be on a tag).
I wasn't really sure how to make a beating heart but into my head popped the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz who was given a clockwork heart and so I've made my version of that! The cogs, heart and frame of the Studio 490 pocket watch Art Part all had metal tape on them with Alcohol Ink over the top and two layers of clear UTEE. The base of the pocket watch was painted white, had Vintage Photo Distress Ink rubbed over the top with Black Soot Distress Ink on the edges. I stamped the watch face over the top and then added a layer of Rock Candy Crackle Paint. Once that was dry (as in the photo) I added the frame and then filled in the clock face with a layer of Glossy Accents.
They were all attached to some garden wire that I fashioned into a tag shape (with a little sari ribbon tied to the top too!). I added Alcohol Ink to the frame first giving it an aged patina but I'm not sure you can see this in the photos so you'll just have to trust me! I couldn't decide if the clock should have hands or not... I decided that if it's a weathered timepiece then they have probably fallen off...!!!
The words are from Tim Holtz' Chit Chat stickers but the word 'Mechanical' is part of a PaperArtsy stamp.
I really enjoyed this challenge and hope that you feel inspired to play along too!

15 years...!

Well,  today marks our 15th Wedding Anniversary. We've actually been together 24.5 years (pretty much to the day!) so that makes us childhood sweethearts I guess (Note: I might want you to think I am younger than I am!) To celebrate I thought I'd make my rather lovely husband a little something but it needed to be a little masculine as he really isn't a pink, fluffy kinda guy...!
I took a Heart Art Part (ooh! That rhymes!) and covered it with metal tape and then went bonkers with a metal tool creating faux stitching. Don't have a metal tool? A pencil is the perfect tool! Honestly! It works a treat! Then I covered it all with Gold Alcohol Ink and rubbed Little Black  Dress Fresco Finish paint over the top and wiped it off with a piece of kitchen roll. Behind the aperture I added some wire mesh. I took a leaf Art Part and covered it with metal tape and did the same technique as before but used Lettuce Alcohol Ink. I then took some Grunge paper, covered it with tape as before and stamped some Studio 490 flowers on the reverse. I cut them out, used a metal tool and then, as before added Alcohol Ink (Red Pepper on the larger and Sunset Orange on the smaller) and black paint. I curled the petals before adhering them to the leaf.
In the centre of the flower I added a Blossom Bucket piece and a Bingo piece that I added metal tape to the top, Sunset Orange Alcohol Ink and black paint, with more paint round the outside. A little Ideaology and it was finished.
I thought I might leave you with a picture from our wedding...! Blimey! We looked young!!!
