Easter Happenings

Hey Y'all! I have fallen off of the blog postin' train once again. To tell you the truth, I haven't really been all that motivated when it comes to crafting, and D.I.Y.'ing...GASP!!
I know, right?
The horror!
Well, I have been working on our "school room" a.k.a. our bonus room. It's been a work in progress for 4 years now:o) Anywhoodles, it's FINALLY organized, so now I can pick a paint color, paint, build, paint, pull my hair out because of all the painting, decorate, and get hair implants to replace the ones that I will most likely be pulling out:o)
I have been up to a few other things as well. If you follow along on Facebook or Instagram, then you already know that I got a new sewing machine.
IT'S.DA.BOMB.
Just sayin'.
It is an embroidery sewing machine, but it does soooooo much more than my last one could ever dream of doing. Speaking of my last machine, it found a new home last Friday. The lady who purchased it from me was beyond excited to get it....if I weren't so jazzed about the new machine, I might have felt a little more sad to see it go.
So with this new machine comes lots of fun! I have been able to monogram and applique to my hearts desire. I have made some gifts for my kiddos and for a few others as well.
I made some fun shirts for the Giant Easter basket.
Why, yes, my Easter basket is finished. BAM!!
Am I always on top of things like this..Nay, I say!
The Giant Easter basket was used for our Easters as kids. My mother gave it to me to use with my kids, and I think it even came with the "original" plastic-y grass....it's probably laden with some nasty form of BPA;o)
Anyway, here's a closer look of the shirt for E. We're BAMA fans in this household, and if you don't know what RTR means, not to worry. "Roll Tide Roll" is what that stands for. What does "Roll Tide Roll" mean?
I have no idea.
I am a BAMA fan by proxy. The hubs cheers for BAMA, so that means I do to. No sense in borrowing trouble;o)
For some reason the thread looks orange in this picture, but I promise it is a deep crimson red...roll tide.;o)
I didn't get a good close up of the Anna shirt for S.R., but if you visit my Facebook page, you can see one there.
I appliqued a dress for S.R. today. I'm thinking this will be her Easter dress. Last year's dress was much fancier, but I don't have fancy in me this year.
And it's not like she'll remember that 2014 was the year that mommy decided to get all kinds of lazy and not make a fancy dress.
This one will do just fine!
I may make E a bow tie to go with his new $2 yard sale suit he got last weekend. Yes...I said 2 bucks for a really awesome little boy's suit. It fits like a dream and he looks adorable in it!!
************
So with great machine comes great responsibility.
I am officially selling monogrammed and appliqued items, and to kick things off, I am hosting a sale. You can head over to my Facebook page to see what items I have to offer for applique. If there is something you'd like but don't see, message me, and I will see what I can come up with!

Easter Outfits-Boy's Vest and Bow Tie

I shared with you guys the other day S.R.'s Easter dress, and today I wanted to give you a closer look at E's vest and bow tie.
This has to be the easiest thing to sew for little boys, and it looks so cute!
I purchased the vest pattern last year when the kids' were in my uncle's wedding.
I lost the instructions somewhere in my craft closet, but thankfully found the right pattern pieces to make the vest..and to answer your question, yes, my craft closet is a disaster, and no, I never put anything away where it belongs. I work in total chaos;o)
The fabric was purchased from Hobby Lobby. I bought 1 yard, and after using my coupon, it came in at just under $5. Not bad, eh?
The bow tie has velcro on the ends to keep it closed around the neck.
I really need to do a tutorial on how to make a bow tie. You wouldn't believe how easy it is to make these things!!
Little man loved this outfit, and it always makes me proud when they get excited about what I make for them:o)
Have a great day, and make sure to smile big;o)

Easter Outfits-Easter Dress

We had a wonderful Easter. A time of catching up with family and friends, eating way too many delicious foods...courtesy of my mother, and remembering the resurrection of our Lord and Savior:o)
I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend as well.

I gave a sneak peak on Facebook last Friday of the kids' Easter outfits. This week I will be sharing what I made for both of them.

Today's focus is on S.R.'s dress.
Thankfully I had all the materials on hand, so this dress was completely free. Yay, for free!!
 This dress is extra special...
All of the bead work, which was hand-sewn onto the dress(ugh!), came from my mother's wedding gown.
I took extra care in making sure that this dress will last, so that we can hopefully pass this on to my brother and sister's "someday" children:o)
The bead work went across the bodice...
and across the bottom of the skirt.
Here's a quick look at the back. An extra long sash for the finishing touch.
My children are carbon copies of the hubs and me...even down to how we take our pictures...it scares me how much my daughter is like me;o)
Every once and a while we can get E to loosen up as well:o)
Come back for a closer look at E's Easter Vest and Bow Tie....

Easter Decor

I am finally pulling out a few Easter decorations. Slim pickin's this year. Since these decorations are only out for 1 week, I decided to go with the "less is more" approach.

The Happy Easter printable can be found here

My mother-in-law gave me these little ceramic bunnies a few years ago. They're so sweet.
They look so solemn though, don't they? Maybe they're sad that they only get to stay out of the attic for only a week..poor things:o)

We have Spring Break next week, and I am looking forward to sleeping in and spending some good quality time with my kiddos.
Have a great rest of the weekend!

E's Easter Party

Yesterday was E's Easter party, and I was one of the helpers. I'd like to say that it went off without a hitch, but that's not true. It was slightly underwhelming, and of all things, we forgot to bring drinks...DUH!
BUT, I got to witness E's very first program at school, and it was so exciting for me...it wasn't spectacular by any means, but it was a "First" for him, and I got to witness it. I even got a little misty-eyed at the beginning. I am really proud of him..he's a good boy:o)

I spent Wednesday getting ready for said festivities. After I got home from church, I whipped up this shirt for E.
The inspiration came from THIS post. I just made it a little more masculine:o)

For teachers' gifts, I found some jars (50% off at Hobby Lobby this week) and filled them with candy. I found the printable from THIS post.
These are the CAKE POPS that I made for the party. They are supposed to be Easter Eggs:o) Most everyone seemed to really like them. Just a little side note, the actual cake part needs to be frozen for 2 HOURS or the melted chocolate will not harden fast, and it becomes a drippy mess.
They are delicious though:o)

Aren't these little bunnies the sweetest thing? E's teacher made them for all of her students.

  And here are the
put to use.
One of the other mothers helping with the party put 3 Peeps in a sammy bag and tied it off with curling ribbon. Then we attached the little Peeps tag. Turned out cute:o)
So obviously with all of this sugar, I had some WILD children when I got home.
There were delayed naps, an incident involving mud on my floors AND a wall, a "come-apart" performed by yours truly, and a poopy "event" with the puppy which involved scrubbing the dickens out of his little hind parts(that had to be one of the grosser things I have ever had to do).
Needless to say, yesterday wasn't what I had planned, but I survived....and isn't that what it's all about anyway?
SURVIVAL???
:O)

New Free Easter Printable

Two posts today...weird I know. I am in the middle of helping with E's Easter party, and I had a free printable I wanted to share with you. This is sort of a last minute thing. The other day I ran across THIS post over at Joy Ever After. She had this really cute idea using peeps, and tags. I thought, PERFECT! We can use these printables as party favors for all of the little ones. But then I realized it was for the cards and not the tags that were available for printing:o(
So I just spent the last little bit making these.

They are similar, and they will definitely do the trick.
To download this printable, go
I'll share the little baggies that we are attaching these tags to tomorrow.
Update...
You can find a picture of how we used these tags

Easter Decor

I cannot believe that Easter is at the end of April this year. We actually get to enjoy having out all the Easter decorations for a tad longer than usual.
I love spring decorating. It brings life back into your home after the hum drum of winter.
I hope to be sharing lots of spring decorating with you this month. Here is a little something I made a few weeks ago....
I made this flower arrangement for my mother as a "get well" gift for her surgery. I wanted to give her something that she could enjoy for years to come.
I fell in love with this little lamb and bunnies from Pier 1. I knew I had to use them somehow:o) The flowers were purchased from Hobby Lobby.
This was such a fun arrangement to make. My mother loves most anything with spriggy things coming off of them, so it was perfect for her.
She was very happy with it...or maybe it was the drugs she was on;o)
