Internship week one is over!

I cant believe one week has passed sooo fast!

i did almost nothing for the first 4 days because there was basically nothing much to do. all i did was to read news releases, update myself with news from around the world and absorb as much documents i can about corporate affairs at temasek holdings.

There was the CA dept meeting where expectations were briefly discussed. i feel more motivated than ever to start on "real" work.

On thursday, i had the chance to go for Bloomberg training, which i reckon costs money too.According to the trainer, it costs $1900 per bloomberg software and another $150 for the terminal. This.. is not just a once off payment. You have to pay it monthly! can you imagine how much companies actually pay for this! omg..

But Bloomberg is useful and extremely interesting! there is even a live chat function with your friends (who have bloomberg) and a "live" assistant to assist you whenever you're in need of advice!

However, the troublesome thing (in my case. for others its actually very useful ) is that there are many codes to remember so that you can easily find what you want on bloomberg. E.g. NSE means news search. While BLAW means Bloomberg law.

I'm stil quite facinated with the bloomberg terminal and i reckon i will be struggling with it for the next 7 months to come!

Happy NEW YEAR

This start of 2009 would be really different from any possible year i have survived. ok. statement sounds weird but u get my point.

Why? because instead of starting school, i will be starting on my internship! Chills, fear, nerves and excitement. This are just but some of what im feeling right now.

I've no idea what to expect, neither do i have much expectations. i just hope to be there to give my all and succeed so that i can secure a good future job and pursue my interest in communications.

Other than that, this will be the first time i spend the first half of the year with my sweetie dew. Last year, we parted sadly temporarily because i made the choice to go on an exchange program at Australia. But this year, we will be spending most of the year together and im glad he will be there for me and me for him.

Furthermore, i feel like im becoming older and older. I will be stepping into the new year as a 21 year old adult and i will be able to vote next yr! (yeah!!!! )

People will start viewing you differently because of your age and hopefully with respect.

I think besides becoming older and more mature, i've become a "less social" life person who has gotten used to the comforts of being a homebody. No parties, less late nights, and just concentrating on being a good girl who wants to make it home for dinner and catch 9pm little nonya. hahahhaa..

Ok.. so that is probably how i have changed so far.
1. more sensible
2. more independent
3. more thrifty (minus the chinese new yr shopping of course!)
4. more no life.

**************

This year, i'm going to continue to work towards my goals and hopefully this time, i can reach more and further.

Career wise:

1. Excel in my internship. Volunteer whenever i can with any saikang i am willing to take!!

2. Expand my network and contacts esp in the media.

3. Talk to more older and experienced people and learn from their mistakes and successes

Relationship wise:

1. Become more understanding and less dominant

2. stop flaring up

3. Curb my PMS tendencies (i think this is going to be a challenge)

4. Be the only girl that sweetie dew wants and will only want and have

5. Cook regularly for him

6. Expect less

7. save money so we can get married
haha

Family wise:

1. keep quiet if mum attempts to quarrel with me

2. Make more time and effort to be home for dinners with family

3. stay out late less often

4. spend more time with friendly

Myself, individual goals:

1. Muster my japanese language at whatever stage im studying now

2. Bake at least once a month

3. Perform at least one kind action to others a month

4. Run at least every other day. This means sleeping early and waking up early. Try to sleep by 12 mn and wake by 630am to run.

5. lose 5kg by November 29 2009.

6. Save at least $700/mth from Jan to July
Save at least $350/mth from Aug to Dec

Ok. i think i have much more resolutions than anyone else. everything is important and in no particular order.

Let's all hope we can stick to it and review ourselves every once in a while!

Anyway, i went to watch my first soccer match quite a while ago on 21st dec with sweetie dew and his friends. Sg vs vietnam. where sg lost.

Look at how sg is passionate abt soccer. the stadium was so packed

Even though vietnam din have many ppl, they still won...

Some ceremony thingie. can someone tell me why they have this little league thing with those kids? whats the symbolism?

Photobucket

Most people came donned in red

A patriotic sgrean!!

When i took this pitcutre, i felt this view looked like those on tv..

This was how packed the place was after the match. sooo crowded. could have caused a stampede if security and crowd control wasnt tight enough.

My evaluation of my first ever live soccer match:
Definitely something that ive never tried before. Initially, i could not get into the mood of cheering for singapore. I haven done such sports cheering for such a long time. besides, i dun even noe the team well. I couldnt get onto momentum with the "OH!" "AH!" "dAMN IT! MISSED THE GOAL!" " WASTED!" " SO CLOSE!"

I COULDNT. and the worse part was the "butoh!" which meant male genitals. Why, oh why, do singaporeans embrace that word? I would love to understand

So anyway, i would say, my first soccer match experience was still nonetheless engaging towards the end because ultimately, as a singaporean, i dun wanna lose face to vietnam. But we still lost in the end. Besides, i was just beginning to get the hang of the match.

Anyways, it was a great experience and i guess i will definitely be back to watch again (that is, if the stadium haven close down- according to some ppl, they kept saying last match at stadium already. but until now, still nothing done yet), all for my dearest sweetie dew.

Perhaps maybe next time, you could see me shouting with the crowd! (definitely an accomplishment for me) and shouting, for all you know, butoh. hahahhahahhaa..
