the long awaited COM 206 1 minute video

After spending almost 3 days filming, and almost 3 days editing...

We are finally done with out 1 minute video. But guess what? we still have to do a report.

So anyway, heres the video that took us so much effort. And i must say, the efforts paid off! For 4 amateur film makers who had little or no experience whatsoever in filming!

I'm proud to say, its done and its good!

That is, in my opinion la. I know there can be better videos out there but hey, i think we did a good job really. We had so little time, experience and basically, we were just simply drifting around the pond.

Heres it!

20 going 21

after attending some 21st birthdays, i feel motivated to organise one too..

on the other hand, i'm afraid, no one will come..

how?

***
on a different note, this is the first time in my university life i started revisions for exams so late. it is all because of all the project deadlines being piled at the last few weeks of school.

Seriously, why cant we be given our prjects much earlier and have them completed by mid term?

why squeeze us til our very last drop of blood?

arghh.. i wish for a second upper. !!

i still choose to give mass appeal movies my vote

After a long tired day which started at 545am and lasted til 420pm..
Its nice to just cuddle up to a good movie that sometimes, just doesnt require much thinking.

Hollywood understands this in all of us. Our innate nature to want to be spoon fed with in your face information and jokes.

House Bunny was a great watch! Warming, loving yet very funny at the same time.

I give it 3.5/5!! Go watch it after a long tired day when all you want to do is to sit back, relax, shut up, and enjoy a movie.

Experiencing Corporate Culture

One thing about working for an MNC, is that you can experience a full, large scale corporate culture at its best.

After learning about corporate culture in my various modules, i was curious to find out how different companies manage their culture. And true enough, i got the chance to find out about the culture at Unilever today when i went down with Anisha for a meeting with them as we are in our preliminary talks for the advertising club to start up.

First step into the company tells you that they value creativity. The design of the company, the colours used, made me feel like i walked into an advertising or creative agency.

But of course, it being a big company and all, there was definitely much order around the office.

So when we were in the midst of our discussion, we "took part" in one of their weekly friday company gatherings where every friday morning at 10am, all the employees would gather in the common area and one employee would give his talk.

Talk? what talk?

Well, as from what i heard from the HR person we spoke to, one employee would present a 3 min talk weekly on a safety issue. Needless to say, this week's one was about travel safety, citing the recent Qantas airplane incident. Whats the link to Unilever?

None.

Except that we can probably say travel safety is highly emphasized because up to 70% of their employees travel very frequently.

After which, i was lucky enough to also experience their farewell for a fellow employee who has been working with the company for 6 years. They big him farewell, boss gave a speech, he gave a speech too. And token of appreciation was presented. The spirit was fun and jovial, no doubt there was a tinge of regret when employees had to see him go. Despite that, jokes were exchanged and praises for him were aplenty. They congratulate him as he moves on to the next level in his career.

Now, thats why i call true company culture. At least, for an outsider like me, i felt i wanted to belong to the company.
