There's one thing about being able to do art and appreciating art.
Personally, i feel that being able to appreciate art comes along with experience and knowledge. Being able to do art, requires great amount of creativity, strength, knowledge, experience and perspective.
Being able to do a great art that many others can enjoy and see it your way, is even harder than the above two.
I went to the City Hall and South Beach Development establishments for the singapore Biennale 08 with dew dew today. I must admit, there are many many many art pieces which i have no idea what they are talking about - despite the guidebook and the exhibition explanations provided. But here (below) are some of the art work which have impressed me, and i'm sure, will impress you as well.
If you're free, take the chance to visit the exhibits. Even if you don;t understand art, you might be surprised and awed by some amazing art pieces in the Biennale 08.

Above: Hall with Orange Lines. Supposed to create the illusion that the lines are straight and floating? haha. Something i dont quite understand. Sorry, nv pay enough attend to COM 206 (Visual Communication)

Above: Myself attempting to practice the skills ive learnt in 206, something called invisible lines or smt. whatever la.

Above: yet another try.

Above: One of my favourite pieces, where the dancer is stretched beyond boundaries of the norm.

Above: My favourite! Hair Salon. The illusion to one is that it is just a single room with mirrors that reflect the other side. However, the reality is otherwise. I like the concept that it blurs the lines between reality and illusion, with simple inverts of pictures and items.

Above: See how everything is symmetrical despite it not being a mirror?

Above: just look at the clock and u will understand what i mean.

Above: Explanation of the Hair Salon

Above: Interesting art piece of a swing made by neon lights. the artist is a musician and the swing swings to the rhythm somewhat like a pendulum. The fact that it is a swing that you can see but yet cannot seat on creates a certain fantasy feeling.

Above: Its supposed to be a monument of some kind where the black cards you can step on to walk to this particular art piece mimics namecards where people's identity are commonly forgotten.

Above: Picture taken by yours truly. haha. i like the idea of the window rails overlooking the wall which says "one hundred years of solitude".

Above: Guess what it is?
It is actually a picture taken by an artist who used her left over food to take a picture to mimic disasters.

Above: Just what is that?!?!
A chewing gum with saliva... *urghhhh*

Above: Another supposed emo shot.

Above: This temple is made of sugar. It is made to slowly deteriorate til the end of the Biennale.
Thats all for the highlights at the South Beach Devt.
We then headed on to City Hall for more exhibits!

Above: Dew Dew pointing to the new seats where many prepare for the Singapore F1 Grand Prix.

Above: MAGGOTS!! MAGGOTS!! and MAGGOTS!!!!!
This maggots lead you all the way to a once popular restaurant in the city hall itself.
Imagine the irony.

Above: Creepy??? hehe

Above: Just what is this?!?!?!

Above: Heres a closer look! The painting was actually made up of paint threads! magnificent isnt it? =)

Above: Little Guilin. Where one steps into another world when you open these ikea closets.

Above: Another one of my favourite!! These are made of wool!!!!!!!

Incredible the amount of effort put in!

Above: The floor shows an enlarged Goggle Map of Singapore. Viewers were encouraged to paste personal notes in the art piece itself about their personal information!

Hee...

Yes, its us again!

Above: A room with items all covered in charcoal.. with flames burning.

Above: Yes, again, its one of my hot favourites!!! miniature forest with trees made up of wires(if i dun rmb wrongly!). One side is brightly coloured and cheerful while the other side reflects a cold and gloomy forest. Unfortunately, i forgot the take the other side. =X

Above: This is a very interesting art installation. Find out for yourself why! i shall not tell u!

Above: War of the Worlds. hehe.. C the UFO??

Above: Evening scene outside the City Hall.
I cant wait to go to the Central Promontory site to see the Slipper Forest!
