The Tale of a little girl...

the dance club over here is super chui.

We learnt the Cha cha here. yet again. -.-"" I was expecting to learn hip hop or lyrical or smt else. And ... not to be hao lian.. but.. i think i can dance it much better than her given my only one semester training. She made all the technical flaws and did not know her choreography. Its super chui. and she definitely cannot be compared to Belmond in DSA. I reckon.. shes just a student with a strong passion for dance and.. i admire her for that! n i think shes independent and daring to set up her own dance club. it seems like there are like no seniors one or no like.. committee or smt. haha. but anyway, who i m to judge? i m yet again.. a chui dancer too..
i lvoe dance and i miss mj. but im not good at it still. haha..

it gets quite boring during weekends.

Went to Hotel CBD to try out their $5 pizzas hoping for a cheap dinner for once. We ordered Taandori chicken pizza and thai chicken. turned out.. there were 2 tanndoris. the person at the counter probably heard wrongly and did not see my finger when i pointed at the menu.

Anyway, was pretty bored in hostel and so.. i streamed Alvin and the Chipmunks to watch. i'm such a movie buff. i love all happy movies. so, alvin and the chipmunks was no exception. except.. it made me feel like crying during the happy scenes.

Lisa introed me this damn lame game but im so hooked on it i couldnt stop playing with it for like half an hour!

hi there! its australia day today! so.. erm.. happy australia day! the people here are very hyped up about australia day. Some get drunk in mid day and run around shouting happy australia day! while others celebrate by playing lots of weird games etc.

Today, however, the group of us went to this restaurant in Oasis at Broadbeach for... DIM SUM BREAKFAST!!! it was superb and we ate heartily. Also, we were very satisfied and happy for the first time after a very long time.. because the food in the brasserie sucks big time. The two koreans who went along, james and min ah.. also liked the food very much. WE tried to guess the bill before it came. there were guesses of like.. $150, $200.. and there was even a guess of $300!

we were damn shocked when we saw the bill! it was.... $63.30!!!

damn freakin cheap la! 6 people for that amount. one person only needed to pay around $11! Cheap and good food! i can foresee us going there more often next time!

After that, we went to Pacific Fair to watch 27 Dresses. There is student price for movie tickets here. They cost $11 per person. And the thing i dont like about cinemas here is that it is free seating. So.. if you do not go on time, you might not get a seat of your choice.

27 dresses is a wonderful romantic comedy and i absolutely love it! i give it 4 out of 5 popcorns!

Speaking about sitting rides, the queues were so freakin long! coz it was a sch holiday. This ride above.. we queued for about 1 and a half hours.. then guess what??? They suddenly had technical difficulties and so.. we had wasted all our precious time!!!!

hello. i'm back again!

Went for spinning class today. The instructor or whatever u call him, is so much better than the previous one. this one really was a good workout. if its him again, i think i will go for it. if not, spinning is actually quite boring because all you do is to spin the exercise bike. i;m really trying to make the effort to like exercise everyday. so, i really hope i can lose weight.

Anyway, my classes have all commenced and so far, i'm lucky im not the only asian in each class. i hope it will continue that way for tutorials. its only when i come here, to bond that i feel the strong effects of racism. it is not so bad in like sydney and Brisbane because there are more Asians there. over here, there are very little asians and the locals tend to ostracize us, so to speak.

There are so many stories of racism that i hear everyday. For example, a few asians were assaulted with rocks at a bus stop near bond uni. Next, a group of teenagers threw eggs at a girl while she was walking along the street. More examples would be.. the ang mos dun wanna group with asians in project work. Next, the ang mos dun talk to asians at all. other than that, at the food place, some of us have experienced weird looking stares as well as violent behaviour such as banging things on the table. I think the list would go on and now that i'm here, im quite glad i have not experienced any extreme racism yet.

I'm so lucky that in Singapore, i m a majority. However, even so, i dont think the racism in singapore is as bad as here. at least in singapore, we treat everyone fairly. at least i think i do. and i'm proud to say i have not exhibited much racist behaviour to anyone since i was born.

So, what is wrong with some people? why are we, asians, the marginalized one? Did we do anything to offend them? is it just our skin colour. Sometimes, its very sad to know of such things. but i think, all these experiences only serve to make us stronger. WE are proud of our heritage and we know that. so i think.. thats good enough. Actually, the locals should be glad that we came here instead of being disgusted or wateva by us. that is because we believed that this place would bring us new experience and excitement thats why we chose here. however, these people do not hesitate to bring us down. They have let us down as this place doesnt seem as friendly as before we reached. Now, what we will bring back with us are memories of racism and fear. Its actually quite an awful disgrace i must say. i hope people will change. =)

gd morning! its almost coming to 11am here! i'm going off to the gym soon. i shall prove to everyone that not everyone who goes to aussie will gain weight when they come back. im trying to work out as often as i can and make full use of my $88 activities fee. haha

jia you to losing weight!

Saturday, January 19, 2008

hello! i haven been bloggin for quite a while yea. ok. anyway,im having a relaxed weekend this week. i'm going to stay in, and work on my assignments. can you believe it?first week and i have so many assignments to complete already. and so, i'm going to start on it after this blog entry.

So many things happen in so little time and i must say, i now do not really regret coming to Bond after all. Coming for an exchange, initially, was a regretful decision in my first week at bond. Thats because i probably have not been meeting the right people at the right time. However, over this week, i have met many nice people and good friends. Also, coming here has let me learn about many other different things i probably would not have experienced in Singapore, such as racism.

heres one event i went for. Yesterday, Friday, there was a big event, called Pub Crawl. But Cathryn is a good girl. She doesnt want to waste her parents money while she is here by buying drinks and getting herself unhealthy. Pub Crawl is an event where you pay A$25 to go to all different pubs and try all their drinks there. You have to pay for the drinks btw. so anyway, you are paying more like.. for the transport i think.

So instead of going for Pub Crawl, we went for Rec Crawl. Recreation Crawl.
There was Ice skating, arcade as well as bumper cars. It sorta let us relive our youths once again. haha.
here are some pics. will post the rest when i get them from the rest!
