Every day an Indexcard: Make your mark!

Ik heb mezelf vrijdag ingeschreven voor  een  online cursus van Robin Mead:  Make Your Mark/

On Friday I enrolled in the Robin Mead online course: Make Your Mark.

De opdracht voor deze week was om met een zwarte stift vooral veel lijnen te tekenen: recht, krom, dikke stift, dunne stift, niets is fout, alles mag. Natuurlijk ben ik dat gaan toepassen op mijn indexkaartjes. Twee vliegen in 1 klap nietwaar?/
The lesson of this week was to draw lines, curvy, straight lines, thick/thin, nothing is wrong, everything goes. Ofcourse I had to try this out on my ndexcards.

Ik begon uit de vrije hand/ I started just scribbling with no start point.

I keep looking at this one and keep seeing non intended shapes: 2 hands, a rooster head, a kind of tree, waves.
Do you see them too or is it just me?

Ik had nog een afdruk voor me liggen van de bloem van onze Art Journey set Big Flowers. Ik kreeg toen het idee om die 2 x op een indexkaartje te stempelen. Zowel links als rechts en dat als startpunt te gebruiken.

Lying in front of me I saw a stamp-print of one of the flowers of the Art Journey stamp sheet: Big Flowers and thought that would be a nice starting point for my next index card. I stamped the flower on the left and the right and filled up the space in between.

Oh, dit is leuk om te doen, ik ga er nog eentje maken. Nu stempelde ik de Art Journey stempel: Ornament in het midden en ging wat meer symetrisch te werk.

This is fun!! I am going to make another one. Now I took the Art Journey stamp: Ornament and stamped that in the middle of the card and made more symmetry in my work.

Tot nu toe heeft deze cursus me al veel lol gebracht en ik denk dat dit heel verslavend is. Ook zo gemakkelijk. Een stukje papier en een zwarte fineliner en je kunt je gang gaan. De volgende oefening is heel wat lastiger volgens mij, maar wie weet laat ik jullie nog wat zien./ 

These first exercises have been lots of fun and quiet addictive too. So easy to do as you only need a small piece of paper and a black marker. The next exercise is more difficult, but I might show you if it's worth showing at all.

Every Day an Indexcard: June 30

Door de hitte en de vele bestellingen loop ik een beetje uit de pas met de volgorde van de kaartjes.
Deze was ik op 30 juni gestart voor het 12 jarig jubileum van Art Journey, maar heb deze vanmorgen pas af kunnen maken.
Het kaartje met de 12 er op komt van de rommelmarkt waar Jeanette en ik zaterdag heerlijk rondgestruind hebben. De pak kaarten (een soort van Rummikub in kaartvorm) hebben we samen verdeeld en zie hier, de eerste is alweer gebruikt!

As the weather is very hot and I have tons of orders for our Art Journey stamps, I have not been able to show you my cards in the correct order. I started this card on June 30 as a mark for the 12 year anniversary of Art Journey. I just finished it this morning. The card with the 12 my friend Jeanette and I just found at a flee-market last Saturday and the 12 already came in handy.

En hier een overzicht van alle kaartjes tot nu toe (de 50% wit springt er erg uit he?). Erg leuk om te doen, maar of ik het straks na mijn vakantie nog elke dag kan volhouden? Ik ga in ieder geval mijn best doen.

And here all cards up till now (the 50% white is the one that stands out!). It's great fun to sit down each day and make a card. But I don't know if I can keep it up if I am back to work again after this vacation. But I will at least try.

Art Journey challenge #59: 50% wit/white. ICAD #12

Het thema voor onze nieuwste challenge is 50%. Voor sommigen van ons lastiger dan anderen. Ik dacht er geen moeite mee te zullen hebben, maar het was toch nog even een strijd. Onderstaand kaartje heb ik toch gemeend te moeten combineren met mijn andere persoonlijke challenge: iedere dag een indexcard te willen maken. (ICAD staat voor Index Card A Day)

The theme for our new Art Journey challenge is 50% white. For some of us harder than for others. I thought it would be easy but found it quiet difficult during the proces. As I am also doiing my own personal challenge I thought I should combine these to in making an indexcard. (ICAD stands for Index Card A Day).

Stamps used: Art Journey stamps: Garden Birds, Vintage Sewing and Handwriting.

I hoop dat deze bijdrage en die van de andere designteamleden, je inspireert om deze maand met ons mee te doen!

Everyday an indexcard: weekend creativity

Hierbij de 2 kaartjes die ik dit weekend heb gemaakt/ this weekend I made these two cards

Niet zoveel gestempeld op de eerste indexcard. Gezicht,  "bloemen" en de tekst in de achtergrond zijn templates. Teksten zijn van Hero Arts en Door County.
Ondergrond is gemaakt met verf en schilderstape.

Not much stamping goiing on in the indexcard below. The face, "flowers" and text in the background are made with templates/stencils. Black text are stamps from Hero Arts and Door County.
Background is made with paint and papertape.

Een kaartje buiten mijn "comfortzone". Ik zie op Pinterest vaak zulke technieken voorbij komen en toen zelf ook maar eens een poging gewaagd. Eerst met allerlei kleurtjes verf en templates een achtergrond gemaakt. Daarna een paar cirkels met zwarte stift en de tussenruimte met gesso  weggevaagd. Verder nog met stiften wat gedoodeld, iets wat me niet echt ligt, ik wil denk ik te "netjes" werken. Tekst is een stempel van Art Impressions.

The card above is a bit out of my "comfortzone". I see alot of people using techniques like this on Pinterest in their journals, so I thought that I should give it a try.
First I made a background with all kinds of colors paint. I drew a few circles with a marker and covered the space inbetween with gesso. After that some doodeling what isn't really something that works well for me. I think I am overthinking it and trying to be too "neat".  The Text Dream is a stamp from Art Impressions.

Every Day an Indexcard # June 26: Owl

Vanavond kreeg ik een berichtje van iemand die reageerde op mijn indexcards. Blijkt er een hele groep mensen te zijn die vanaf 1 juni tot 31 juli elke dag een indexcard maken, en dit is de vijfde jaar in een rij dat ze dit al doen:
Daisy Yellow: ICAD ( index card a day) Challenge. Op facebook laten ze elkaar hun werk zien. Je snapt ik heb me meteen aangemeld, want je hoeft niet op de eerste dag te beginnen.  En ik maar denken dat ik de enige gek ben!!

Vanavond heb ik onderstaand kaartje gemaakt met in de hoofdrol de vliegende uil van de Art Journey sheet Owls. Ook het veertje komt van deze sheet. De rest is collage materiaal en reliëfpasta.

This evening I got an e-mail from somebody who told me that there are more people out there making an indexcard a day. Daisy Yellow ICAD (index card a day) Challenge. Ofcourse I signed up to see what other people are creating.  

This evening I made this card featuring the owl out of the Art Journey sheet Owls. The little feather is also on that sheet. De other stuff is collage material and modeling paste.

Every day an indexcard # June , 24 and 25 Tulips

Gisterenavond nog laat een kaartje gemaakt maar het werd me te laat om nog achter de computer te kruipen. Vandaag de hele dag in de tuin gewerkt, heerlijk!! Eindelijk eens lekker weer om de boel eens goed onder handen te nemen. Dus ook nu weer laat aan het werk. Ik merk dat het normaal wordt om nog even iets te maken, hoe weinig tijd er ook is, ik ga toch even zitten, en wonder boven wonder komt er ook nog wat uit mijn handen ook. De flow zit er helemaal in.

Gisteren had ik 2 indexkaartjes eerst bewerkt met gesso en toen bespoten met dylusions ink spray en perfectpearls mist. Daarna gespeeld met templates en babywipes maar je moet wel goed kijken om dat nog terug te vinden.

In beide kaartjes gestempeld met de Art Journey sets: Tulips en Text. Na het opbleken van de bloemen met chloor (bij het kaartje van vandaag kwam de chloor iets buiten de randjes, maar dat vond ik juist mooi) daarna ingekleurd met Inktense potloden en een witte houtskool potlood. Lijntjes van de bloemen wat bijgewerkt met een Graphik Line Painter van Derwent.

Yesterday evening it was too late to get the computer up and running to show you my card that I made late in the evening. Today was a great day to work in the garden so again it is late but I managed to make a good photo of both of the cards even at this hour.

Yesterday I covered two indexcards in Gesso and then sprayed Dylusions ink and Perfectpearls mist. I then played with stencils and babywipes, but you will have to take a good look to find that showing now. 
In both cards I used the Art Journey stampsets Tulips and Text. After stamping the flowers I took some bleach to lighten the tulips. In today's card the bleach flowed across the lines, but I rather like that look. I then colored the flowers with inktense pencils and a white charcoal pencil. The lines were retouched with a Graphik Line Painter from Derwent.

Every day an indexcard # June the 23rd

Vandaag kwamen mijn nieuwe goodies binnen. Die prachtige stencils van Stencil Girl. Veel te duur gekocht, maar ik heb vakantie en we gaan niet weg, dus een beetje verwennerij mag toch wel dacht ik zo! (Wat een goede smoes he?)

Onderstaande indexcard heb ik dus NIET zelf getekend maar is helemaal met stencils gemaakt. Het gezicht is van Stencil Girl en voor de witte reliefpasta heb een template van Crafters Workshop gebruikt.
De ondergrond is distresspaint op een blz uit een woordenboek met water bewerkt.
Het gezicht heb ik eerst met zwarte verf door de stencil heen getamponneerd, maar omdat ik dat niet zwart genoeg vond heb ik het nog met een houtskool potlood bewerkt en nog delen erbij getekend, bijvoorbeeld in de ogen en de neus. Die waren met de template/stencil naar mijn gevoel  niet helemaal af.  Ogen en mond ingekleurd met stiften en potloden.

Today my new goodies, the stencils from Stencil Girl arrived. They didn't come cheap, but as we are not goiing away on vacation, I that was a good excuse to spoil myself. LOL!

The indexcard below was NOT drawn by me. I made the intire image with stencils. The face from Stencil Girl and the white texturepaste with the stencil of Crafters Workshop.
The background is done with working with distresspaint and water on a page of a dictionary.
First I put some black paint through the stencil with a brush, but as it was not black enough to my taste I also drew the face again with charcoal and added some details in the eye's and nose.  I colored the eye's, mouth and cheeks with markers and pencils.

It looks like the card is not completely straight in the corners but in real life it is, don't know
 why the photo turned out this way. I think because the card is warped and is standing up for
the picture.

Every day an indexcard # June 22nd

Hmmmm, vandaag niet zo goed gelukt. Heb wat restjes papier bij elkaar gezocht om een soort van vintage kaartje te maken. Moest een paar ongelukjes "weg werken"en ben niet zo tevreden met het eind resultaat. Te druk naar mijn smaak. Maar ja, het kan niet elke dag geweldig zijn toch? En ik heb toch maar mooi weer iets gestempeld vandaag.

Hmm, today not so happy with what I made. Took some scrappaper to make some sort of "vintage" card. But as I had to cover up some "mistakes", I am not that pleased. To much goiing on. But hey! Sometimes it works out that way. And I did some stamping today, so goal achieved.

Every day an indexcard: # June 21st

Vandaag was een productief dagje. Niet alleen heb ik mijn voorgenomen indexkaartje gemaakt, ook heb ik de ijzeren doosje die ik gisteren liet zien gepimpt.
Allereerst het kaartje. Geïnspireerd  op een gezicht die ik gisteren op Pinterest zag heb ik vandaag mijn eigen versie getekend. De bloemen zijn van de sheet Big Flowers van Art Journey. 
Bloemen ingekleurd met potloden, het gezicht met waterverf. Best nog lastig hoor dat waterverf, moet me hier zeker nog verder in verdiepen.

Today was productive.; Not only did I make my daily indexcard, I also altered the iron box I showed you yesterday.
First the card. Inspired by a face I saw on Pinterest yesterday I drew my own. The flowers are from the Art Journey sheet Big Flowers. I colored the flowers with pencils and the face with watercolor paint. This is not as easy as it looks this watercolorpaint. I need to alot of more excersise.

En nu de doos. Ik ben er nog niet uit of het zo af is of niet. Ik wil eigenlijk de randen bijkleuren met zwart of zo, maar ben gelijkertijd bang om het dan helemaal te verprutsen. Ik laat het eerst zo denk ik. Gebruik gemaakt van Stencils, Rub-ons, Stempels en plaatjes uit 1 van mijn gevonden boeken.

And now the altered box. I don't know if I want to keep it like this or if I need to darken the edges. Don't won't to spoil it all. 

I used Stencils, Rub-ons, Stamps and pictures out one of the books I bought this week.

Goed voornemen/ Good intentions.....

Gisteren was een dag van leuke vondsten. Samen met mijn moeder gezellig een paar uurtjes in 1 van de 3 kringloopwinkels die Emmen rijk is doorgebracht. En omdat ik sinds kort aan het journalen geslagen ben had ik nog meer dan anders belangstelling voor de afdeling boeken. Heb 15 boeken gekocht en MOEST toen van mezelf stoppen.
Ook heb ik, en nee niet in de kringloopwinkel, maar in mijn eigen hobbykamer onderstaand bakje teruggevonden, en in dat bakje een hele stapel gele indexkaartjes.

Yesterday was a day filled with great finds! Together with my mother I had some loveley hours in one of the 3 thriftshops in Emmen, a city nearby. And as I just discovered the wonderfull art of Journaling I spent even more time than usual in the booksection. I bought 15 books and then told myself to stop.
I also found, and no not in the thriftshop but in my own craftroom, this box with a whole bunch of yellow indexcards.

Gisterenavond was ik op Pinterest en zag een pin waarop iemand een bakje vol met indexcards een jaar lang had bewerkt. Opeens werd ik heel onrustig. Dat wilde ik ook!!! Al jaren wil ik een dagboek bij houden, al jaren wil ik journalen, al jaren wil ik meer tijd maken voor mezelf. Is dit niet HET antwoord op al deze wensen? Als ik nou een elke dag een kaartje maak en achter op mijn gedachten enz. de vrije loop geef? Zou ik dat volhouden?

Yesterday evening I was pinning on Pinterest and saw a pin of somebody who made a simular box as I kind of journal and made a card everyday for a year long. Suddenly it hit me. This is what I want to do too! For years I have meaning to keep a diary, for years I have been wanted to start journaling, for years I have been wanting to take and make more time for myself. Isn't this an anwer to all my wishes? If I could make a card everyday and write some of my thoughts at the back of the card. Could I keep this up?

Could I do something like this for myself?

Ik weet niet of ik het vol hou, ik weet niet of ik elke dag de tijd en inspiratie zal hebben. Ik weet ook niet of ik het elke dag ga showen, maar........................ het begin is er. Ik heb vandaag met gebruik van 2 van de boeken die ik gisteren heb gemaakt onderstaand kaartje gemaakt. Een kunstwerk? Nee! Leuk om te doen? JA! En daar  gaat het om.

I don't know if I can keep it up, I don't know if I can get the time or inspiration to do this everyday, but............. the first card is a fact. Today with also using 2 of the books I bought yesterday, I made the card below. Is it a work of great art? No! But was it fun? YES! And that's the only thing that counts.

Natuurlijk moet ik het doosje ook nog pimpen, dat wordt mijn volgend project, zo gauw die klaar is zal ik het jullie laten zien. Ook zal ik een aantekening in mijn agenda van volgende jaar maken om jullie op 20 juni 2016 te laten zien wat het eind resultaat is. Ben benieuwd. Jullie ook?

Ofcourse I need to pimp the box, that's goiing to be my next project, as soon as that's finished I will show it to you all. I will also put in a reminder in my calender to show you on the 20th of June 2016 what has become of my box of cards. I wonder how many cards there will be. And you?
