Snow Day!

When it gets really snowy, we like to head over to our friends' neighborhood to sled a bit. Rusty makes for a great ride in the snow!

Car Accident Slash Science Fair

We lost control in more ways than one in mid-February. On a rainy Sunday morning, Parker and I drove down to Arlington to set up his and Audrey's science fair project boards at the Fort Worth Regional Science and Engineering Fair. On our way there, we were involved in an accident, which was really scary, of course. We were okay, but our car didn't fare so well. Audrey and Miles had gone to church with a friend, and we were just going to quickly set up and be on our way, but this obviously delayed us. Neal came down from the church building and picked us up. We set up and made it back to church, but needed a rental car for a few weeks while the Yukon was being put back together. I am thankful for our insurance company and for everyone's safety that day. No one was hurt!

Parker set up his project with the help of his teacher, Mr. Fuchs. He worked on this with his buddy, Tyler. Because of the weather the days following the set-up, the students weren't able to meet with the judges to discuss their projects. They were judged completely on what was presented on their boards, which was a little crazy! Despite that disadvantage, the boys won second place in Physics/Astronomy for the Middle School level and an invitation to compete at the State Science Fair. Texas is a big state! This is a big deal! :)

Audrey's beautiful project won an honorable mention in Animal Sciences.

Regional DI Competition for Audrey

Audrey's DI Team, Pokem in DI, competed over the weekend at the regional, Mid-Cities Tournament. They did a great job! They were only up against one other team, but that team was made up of four  senior boys. These girls rocked it and took first place!

Right before the performance!

Last-minute adjustments to Fluffy, their creature in the Creature Feature challenge. They chose the technical challenge this year:
- Build a creature that uses technical methods to perform team-chosen actions.
- Present a story of adventure with the creature as a character.
- Use technical methods to demonstrate features of a world where the story is set.
- Create and present two Team Choice Elements that show off the team’s interests, skills, areas of
strength, and talents.

During the performance.

Waiting for the awards ceremony to begin!

First Place! Going to State!

Ice cream to celebrate!

Meredith's Wedding

We had such a lovely time visiting Lubbock and Canyon for Meredith and Jon's wedding. It is so nice to be close enough to family that trips like this are possible! The whole weekend was so fun and the blessings were abounding.

Horn folks gathering outside the Lubbock Temple after the sealing ceremony.

Audrey and Claire! Love these girls.

Audrey with the bride.

With the happy couple.

Taking photos on the lawn.

Canyon, Texas is called Canyon because of Palo Duro Canyon, just outside of town. All the times we have been coming to Canyon, this was our first time stopping. It was so pretty! Parker and Miles had to leave the weekend early to get back in time for baseball tryouts.

Fun in February

My mom and dad came for a quick visit in February. We always love to see them!

Miles led the flag ceremony at the Pack Meeting, and got some awards, too!

Neal turns 40!

Well, in true Neal and Leslie fashion, we had a pretty low-key celebration for Neal's birthday. His dad and Gail, Mark and Martha and Jeff, Jackson and Nelson came to Benihana, a central location. We had a great time! Yay for birthdays and men like Neal who only get better every year. We love this guy and are so proud and lucky to be his family.

He works hard and naps hard.
