3rd Annual Franklin Boulevard Community Health Fair

FREE health services and community resources will be featured at the 3rd Annual Franklin Boulevard Community Health Fair.  The Church of the Nazarene will hold the fair on Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at 4405 Franklin Boulevard, Sacramento. 

Medical staff from Kaiser will provide health screenings, vaccinations, and check ups to under-insured families.  There will also be workshops about home ownership, avoiding foreclosure, and finding employment.

Volunteer for Good Luck this Summer

Our friends at the
Sacramento Public Library Foundation
are looking for a few good volunteers. 

Their summer phone bank will be starting soon to call library donors.  Volunteers will help raise money for the Lucky Day collection.  These bestselling books will be available at your local branch on a first come, first serve basis.  The books can't be reserved, so if it's there when you walk in, it's YOUR lucky day!

June 10 - Meet Author Trina Robbins at the Rice Bowl Restaurant

July 8-22 Book Sale at MLK, Jr. Library, Sacramento

The Friends of the Library, Martin Luther King, Jr. branch in Sacramento, are looking for volunteers for their upcoming Book Sale, July 8-22

Volunteers are needed for set up on Friday, July 8 and for cashiering throughout the event. 

Volunteers are also needed to serve on the Friends' Board of Directors.

Sacramento City Council District 8 is once again hosting its Annual Summer Concert Series at the following locations.  Each concert will run from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

May 21st Rummage Sale to Benefit Paratransit

Paratransit, Inc. is holding a Rummage Sale this Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm at 2501 Florin Road, Sacramento

Proceeds from this event will be used to send their State Champion Bus Roadeo Team to Indianapolis.  There they will compete in the International Bus Roadeo sponsored by the Community Transportation Association of America.  Paratransit's team has won California's top award  for four consecutive years.  Way to go guys and gals!
