Not much to say about this final one - mostly happy with him though.

25mm Ghost Miniatures - Wizards 5/6

Finally finished the last of the Ghost Miniatures Wizards this weekend. This one's the most Gandalfy of the lot.

25mm Ghost Miniatures - Wizards 4/6

Reminds me of a 70s Kung Fu character. I did the black trim on the robe (it's not sculpted).

Got sidetracked on ghosts (and witches now too) and still have just the fine details on the remaining two Ghost Miniatures wizards. They're coming along.

25mm Ghost Miniatures - Wizards 3/6

I hit this guy twice with the Testor's dullcoat and can't get the shine off. Before that I did use a home brew wash of Pledge and ink on the robe, but after sealing it seems to still poke through all over the place.
I kept referring to him as "the Assyrian" as I painted him - the ringlets in the beard inspired that methinks.

He was finished a few weeks ago but I was hoping to seal a bunch of figures at once so he had to wait until I did so. Some of the dynamism was lost on the robe after too.

25mm Ghost Miniatures - Wizards 2/6

Blogger is too clunky for me with the image control - I'll just post these as I finish them.

Tried to do a little OSL effects on the sleeve. I also wanted to find a use for colors I use very infrequently: the turquoise/green build from Vallejo Game Color. Flame was too obvious, so was a gray to white or a straight blue.

I have two others finished but are really too glossy to show just yet - when I finish the last one I'll dull coat them all and pull them together.

25mm Ghost Miniatures - Wizards 1/6

There are six figures in this pack - still available from Old Glory.  I'll just update this entry as I finish them and include them all here. The other five are in various stages of completion with mostly small details left to finish off. At first, since they are just ok models, I thought I would paint them entirely against type - the "good" ones I would paint as evil and the "evil" ones as good. I ended up not doing that as much as I had planned as there is a kind of ambiguity about the sculpts themselves. This one was partly inspired by my distant memories of Saruman in the Hobbit films where he is a goodie.

More to come including a group shot - watch this space!

25mm Perth Pewter - Wizard with Owl

Had this guy for ages and decided to do a bunch of wizards at once - he's the first of around half a dozen. More to come!

For size comparison purposes ... he's quite tiny.

25mm Grenadier - Advanced Dungeons & Dragons - Magician and Enchanter

I've owned these a couple times over the years - my first collection of fantasy stuff was unpainted, poorly stored and trivially traded away for I know not what. I, much later, reacquired bits and pieces of them. On one of the box set photos this guy is labeled "Magician" ...

... and this one "Enchanter". Both painted in the early 00s.

On the 1980 box description it's not clear who is who. My guess is that this one is called "Magic user w/Snap in spells".
