The blue and the gold.....

The spring migrants are beginning to show up!  Today I had 5 male Indigo Buntings in the yard!
I miss my big camera with its zoom right now....sigh.
At least if they come to the feeder by the door I can get a fair shot.
I just love all that blue!
They are very pretty little finches.
Here are 3 males and a female on the right.  The female is very plain brown but is also pretty.  I hope to get a better shot of one than this.
They were picking seeds out of the drive mostly.
I've also had more Goldfinches show up.  There were about a dozen on the drive this morning with the Indigo Buntings.  Very colorful!
Most of the males are now fully golden and beautiful.
A little too much light on this one.
Three in the drive.
This means the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks should be showing up, too....can't wait!

Love those Indigo Buntings! We still have a few of those. I love to see them feeding with the Goldfinch! The Rose-breasted Grosbeaks have been here and gone as of last week. They are very beautiful, too.

Mary: Thanks everyone! My driveway is so colorful right now with the blues, the golds, and the red Cardinals! Helps make up for all the dreary rain we've had. I hope to get back on a more even posting schedule and visit all of your blogs and catch up once again. I just seem to be behind all the time right now.

I seen indigo buntings at my brother's house, but up here I only see them when we are out for a drive!

I love that one shot of the goldfinch you say has a little too much light. It is perfect on my computer.

We had a male indigo bunting in bird Alley once! I was thrilled to see it for it was a rare sighting for me. I wish one would come and visit again. When I look at your pictures I realize I am living very much on the fringe of nowheresville birdville. Beautiful pictures. I am so envious.

Just loved your Indigo Buntings. I took some pictures of a little brown bird a couple of weeks ago. it was pretty dreary out, but when I looked at them closer, there seemed to be a little bluish cast. I wondered at the time if they were Indigo Buntings. I haven't seen any blue ones like yours for about three years. I hope they come back.

Such a contrast in colours Mary, the Indigo is really unusual.

Mary, your birds give a real splash in their primary colours! Most of our birds are very muted in comparison.

I have just discovered your wonderful praise verse in your sidebar. How special. I feel it may have a tune?
